Michael Bloomberg - American Fascist

In the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Monday the country’s interpretation of the Constitution will “have to change” to allow for greater security to stave off future attacks.

Bloomberg's is the face of American fascism.

Notice... "the country's interpretation of the Constitution will have to change," not, "we must change the Constitution via the Amendment Process... via the Rule of Law."

In certain ways Michael Bloomberg is the most dangerous man in America. He's a billionaire. He's got the bully pulpit of the Mayoralty of New York City. But most insidious, he is small... physically small... non-threatening on the face of it. One's instinct when disagreeing with Mayor Bloomberg is not to "fear" him, but to insult him, belittle him, relegate him to "that annoying little man."

We mustn't fool ourselves, though! Bloomberg is a man of power. Vast power! Indeed, were he to read this blog posting he'd surely laugh... surely feel contempt for me without even knowing me. And in a sense that would be fair; he's Billionaire Mayor of New York Mike Bloomberg and I'm... not. Not even close. Neither is hardly anyone to a man like that.

Beware, my friends... the fascistic impulses of Michael Bloomberg are shared by many men and women in power... and perhaps worse... by millions... tens of millions... of regular citizens without power, but, who hope for "leaders" who will "interpret" the Rule of Law as they would - namely by pushing their preferred policies and interests and to hell with the Constitution as written and meant to be read.

“It really says something bad about us that we have to do it. But our obligation first and foremost is to keep our kids safe in the schools; first and foremost, to keep you safe if you go to a sporting event; first and foremost is to keep you safe if you walk down the streets or go into our parks,” he said. “We cannot let the terrorists put us in a situation where we can’t do those things. And the ways to do that is to provide what we think is an appropriate level of protection.”

In other words... "To hell with the Constitution and the Rule of Law."

Fascism "for the Children."

No, Mr. Mayor, you are wrong... and clearly your wealth and position makes you one of the threats that "We the People" should fear most.

In 1759 Ben Franklin penned, "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." In 2013 I agree with Ben Franklin and hope and pray my readers do as well.

I'll raise a Big Gulp to that sentiment, Bill.
