Kimball Clark, 45, was locked up Friday on drug-dealing charges — again — when he was overheard using his one phone call to ask the person on the other end of the line to “get my EBT card and go to the ATM and get the money to bail me out, get me outa here tonight,” according to a Boston police report.

* AN EBT CARD IS THE MODERN VERSION OF FOOD STAMPS.

Clark, who gave police a South End address, is charged with distribution of heroin within 1,000 feet of a school. He posted bail and was released, but it is unclear where he got the money. Police said he had $758 in cash on him when he was busted Friday in what cops say was a deal in progress in Dorchester, but that cash was seized. Efforts to reach Clark for comment yesterday were unsuccessful. It is unclear whether he has an EBT card assigned to him. His prior convictions include assault and battery in 2007 and cocaine possession with intent to distribute in 2006, according to the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office.

During a meeting with 18 Delaware Tea Party leaders on Wednesday, Newt Gingrich lambasted FOX News Channel, accusing the cable network of having been in the tank for Mitt Romney from the beginning of the Republican presidential fight.

* AND HE'S RIGHT! THEY WERE! MOST OF THE SO-CALLED "CONSERVATIVE" MEDIA WERE! JEEZUS... I OUTLINED IT IN REAL TIME AS IT WAS HAPPENING! CHECK OUT THE ARCHIVES HERE AT USUALLY RIGHT!

An employee himself of the news outlet as recently as last year, he also cited former colleagues for attacking him out of what he characterized as personal jealousy.

“I think FOX has been for Romney all the way through,” Gingrich said during the private meeting...at Wesley College. “In our experience, Callista and I both believe CNN is less biased than FOX this year. We are more likely to get neutral coverage out of CNN than we are of FOX, and we’re more likely to get distortion out of FOX. That’s just a fact.”

* YES! I SAW IT AND COMMENTED UPON IT AS IT WAS HAPPENING!

The former House speaker’s blunt remarks came in response to a question from one of the state Tea Party leaders about the manner in which his campaign has been treated by conservative media outlets.

Gingrich did not pull his punches in accusing Rupert Murdoch - the chairman and CEO of News Corp., FOX News’ parent company - of pushing for Romney behind the scenes.

“I assume it’s because Murdoch at some point [who] said, ‘I want Romney,’ and so ‘fair and balanced’ became ‘Romney,’ ” Gingrich said. “And there’s no question that Fox had a lot to do with stopping my campaign because such a high percentage of our base watches FOX.”

* AGAIN... RIGHT IN LINE WITH WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING ALL ALONG!

Gingrich said that despite serving two decades in Congress, he was the “least establishment candidate since Ronald Reagan” - another reason why he said he had not endeared himself to conservative media figures.

“They know I don’t care about their opinions,” he said. “I don’t go to their cocktail parties. I don’t go to their Christmas parties. The only press events I go to are interesting dinners when the wife insists on it, so we’re going to go to the White House Correspondents' dinner because she wants to. And we’re actually going to go to CNN’s table, not FOX.”

The former speaker also took a direct shot at the political party whose presidential nomination he continues to seek, calling the GOP “a party that’s inarticulate.”

“The Republican Party is a managerial party that doesn’t like to fight, doesn’t like to read books,” he said. “This is why the Tea Party was so horrifying. Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 13,000 to a seasonally adjusted 380,000, the Labor Department said on Thursday, defying economists' expectations for a drop to 355,000.

From Jan. 1 through April 1 this year, 120 homicides were recorded in Chicago, up sharply from 75 in the same period in both 2011 and 2010, according to department statistics. Nonfatal shootings totaled almost 490 in the first three months of 2012, up 37 percent from a year earlier.

Three years into his presidency, Obama has not introduced a plan for comprehensive tax reform — arguably the most important vehicle for fixing the nation’s finances and boosting long-term economic growth.

His opponents haven’t done much better, but that doesn’t excuse the president’s failures: appointing the Simpson-Bowles commission and then disregarding its findings, offering a plan for business tax reform only, and issuing a series of platitudes.

The Buffett Rule, rather than overhauling the tax code, would simply add another layer.

President Obama admits it: His proposed “Buffett Rule” tax on millionaires is a gimmick.

Actually, the gimmick was apparent even without the president’s acknowledgment. President Obama gave his remarks in a room in the White House complex adorned with campaign-style photos of his factory tours. On stage with him were eight props: four millionaires, each paired with a middle-class assistant. The octet smiled and nodded so much as Obama made his case that it appeared the president was sharing the stage with eight bobbleheads.

A search of the White House Web site yields 17,400 mentions of the Buffett Rule — a proposal that would [supposedly] bring in $47 billion over 10 years, much of that from 22,000 wealthy households.

By contrast, the alternative minimum tax gets fewer than 600 mentions on the site. The AMT, if not changed, will take about $1 trillion over a decade from millions of taxpayers, many of whom earn less than $200,000 a year.

Obama’s prioritization is no mystery: The populist Buffett Rule polls well. This explains its inclusion in countless presidential speeches and statements.

The politics of the Buffett Rule — which has no chance of passing when the Senate takes it up next week — are so overt that Obama’s remarks Wednesday were virtually indistinguishable from a section of his campaign speech in Florida on Tuesday.

Officials at the General Services Administration invented fake awards as an excuse to hold taxpayer-funded dinner events at conferences, according to an interview transcript obtained by Roll Call.

At one such event, GSA bestowed the “jackass award” on an employee, a GSA employee told the agency’s Office of Inspector General, according to the transcript.

* WE'VE GOT TO KILL THESE PEOPLE. LITERALLY.

“GSA has been using tax dollars as a slush fund to pay for lavish parties and exotic vacations. From what we’re learning, GSA has a whole laundry list of instances where they were abusing taxpayer dollars. This goes a lot farther and a lot deeper than what we’ve seen,” said Rep. Jeff Denham (R-CA), who chairs a Transportation and Infrastructure subpanel with jurisdiction over the GSA.

House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) said: “Lavish and wasteful expenditures weren’t limited to one convention; they’re part of a disturbing culture of spending. In an unintended way, jackasses at GSA have helped expose the extent of the federal government’s spending problem.”

The GSA is under fire because the inspector general revealed in an April 2 report that the agency spent almost $823,000 on an October 2010 Las Vegas conference for about 300 people. The inspector general also said officials violated scores of rules and regulations governing spending of taxpayer dollars.

In the wake of the report, GSA Administrator Martha Johnson resigned, two of her top aides were fired and four other managers were placed on leave.

Inflation is sometimes referred to as a hidden tax. Unlike other taxes, it doesn’t require legislation by Congress or the states. It doesn’t merit a line item on the 1040 federal income-tax form many Americans will file this week. And it doesn’t appear on the bottom of sales’ receipts as a percentage markup on the things we buy.

Yet, like a tax, it takes resources out of the economy and redirects them to less productive uses.

It distorts price signals and leads to a misallocation of capital.

It’s a silent way for the government and central bank to devalue the currency, raise prices, help borrowers and punish savers.

And it’s exactly the wrong prescription for the U.S.

* AMEN! BUT THAT SAID, INFLATION IS WHAT THE DEMPUBLICANS AND REPUBLICRATS HAVE BEEN PUSHING - FIRST UNDER BUSH... THE PUSH REDOUBLED UNDER OBAMA.

The official push for higher inflation as a cure for a sluggish U.S. recovery began about two years ago with a paper by International Monetary Fund economists, including Chief Economist Olivier Blanchard, titled “Rethinking Macroeconomic Policy.”

Other notables jumped on board, including Harvard’s Ken Rogoff (does he think this time is different?) and Greg Mankiw, an economic adviser to President George W. Bush.

* F%&KING BUSH...!!!

In their view, higher inflation would accelerate the deleveraging process by allowing debtors - including the U.S. government - to pay back their loans in devalued dollars. (Score: borrowers 1, savers 0.)

Paul Krugman, another advocate of higher inflation, argued in his April 5 New York Times column that 3% or 4% inflation would “almost surely help the economy.”

* KRUGMAN IS A MORON.

It would do this by eroding the real value of debt and discouraging businesses and consumers from sitting on cash.

(If 3% to 4% inflation can do all that, just think what 6% to 8% could do!)

* ACTUALLY, FOLKS, IF WE MEASURED INFLATION IN THE SAME MANNER AS WE DID DURING THE 70'S INFLATION WOULD BE ABOVE 10%... I'M GUESSING AT LEAST 12% OR 13%.

The U.S. lives beyond its means. The federal government is running a trillion-dollar deficit for the fourth consecutive year, compounding its inability to make good on promises it has made to future retirees. Consumers binged on credit because home ownership was touted as a reliable piggy bank. All the postmortems on the financial crisis emphasized the need to save more, consume less. Yet somehow the trip to bountiful now goes through Debtville and Inflation City?

* INSANE, ISN'T IT?!

All the incentives are pointed in that direction. The Fed’s benchmark rate has been at 0 to 0.25% since December 2008. If Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke has his way - that is, unless events divert him from his chosen course - it will be at zero until late 2014, a total of six years.

* FOLKS... ONE MORE TIME... IT IS THE POLICY OF THE U.S. GOVERNMENT TO IMPOVERISH US! THEIR "ECONOMIC PLAN" ENTAILS US SPENDING MORE FOR LESS AND GOING FURTHER AND FURTHER INTO DEBT IN ORDER TO DO SO!
