Barker's Newsbites: Wednesday, January 11, 2012

OK, folks... for the moment we're back up and running!

(If I suddenly stop updating it'll be due to "technical difficulties.")

Anyway... no more diet updates. The diet is still on - going great - but I figure you guys get the idea. Over the weekend I bought a big container of real Greek (from goat's milk) yogurt, I have plenty of fruits and veggies and salad and light salad dressing in the house. I also picked up "Skinny Cow" (150 calorie!) "flying saucers" for dessert... yadda, yadda, yadda.

Made my triumphant return to the gym yesterday - burned off 500 calories! (The Pink Eye has been almost totally eradicated...)

Life is good - and as soon as my buddy Phil gets his ass over here to do whatever it is he'll do to alleviate my recent computer problems... life will be damned near perfect!

Now... on to politics!

http://dailycaller.com/2012/01/11/video-nh-poll-workers-shown-handing-out-ballots-in-dead-peoples-names/

Video footage provided exclusively to The Daily Caller shows election workers in New Hampshire giving out ballots in the names of dead voters at multiple voting precincts during the state’s primary election on Tuesday.

The bombshell video is the work of conservative filmmaker James O’Keefe and his organization, Project Veritas.

Voters in the Granite State are not required to present identification to vote. O’Keefe’s investigators were able to obtain ballots under the names of dead voters at polling locations Tuesday by simply asking for them, he said.

“Live free or die,” an election worker told one of the investigators in the video. “This is New Hampshire. No ID needed.”

O’Keefe said he eventually plans to post full, unedited videos of the encounters. “It shows the integrity of the elections process is severely comprised,” the filmmaker said.

He said no laws were broken during the investigation and that his team members never claimed to be the dead people whose ballots they were trying to obtain. Instead, they carefully worded the way they asked for ballots, phrasing it like: “Do you have Earnest Chavanelle?” and “Do you have Paul Soucy?”

In many cases, ballots were handed over by the poll workers without any skepticism. In only one case did a poll worker realize that the investigator wasn’t the person the ballot was meant for - because the woman giving out the ballots knew the dead person in question.

The investigators never actually voted when they were given ballots. Sting artists who received ballots would leave the voting precincts after saying they left their identification in the car. “We were very careful about that,” O'Keefe said.

O’Keefe said the investigation stemmed from discovering that “there are people who have voted who are dead.”

“We found many, many people who are both dead and registered to vote. … How is it that dead people are voting? Someone’s committing fraud.”

http://www.wltx.com/news/article/167748/2/DMV-900-Dead-People-May-Have-Voted-

The director of South Carolina's Department of Motor Vehicles has told the State Law Enforcement Division that more than 900 people who were recorded as having voted were actually dead.

DMV Director Kevin Shwedo told legislators about the issue Wednesday as the U.S. Justice Department questions a new state law requiring people to show photographic identification when they vote in person.

In response, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson asked SLED to review the evidence.

* I WONDER IF HOLDER'S JUSTICE DEPARTMENT WILL ALSO REVIEW THE EVIDENCE?

Shwedo analyzed more than 230,000 records on people without state driver's licenses or identification cards. He found state Election Commission data included 30,000 dead people. He said the records involving 900 dead people were turned over to SLED to investigate.

Shwedo said the records also included more than 91,000 people who now appear to live in other states.

South Carolina's voter ID law was signed into law last year, and was to have taken effect January 1st. However, last month, the U.S. Justice Department said the law was unconstitutional as currently written.

* YEP. VOTER FRAUD... CONSTITUTIONAL... PREVENTING VOTER FRAUD... UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-01-10/sept-11-bracelets-come-from-china.html

For last year’s 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, U.S. Transportation Security Administration officials wanted their workers to remember the thousands who died. So the agency bought 70,000 commemorative bracelets - made in China.

* DISGUSTING.

In the past five years, federal agencies awarded contracts valued at more than $500 billion for foreign goods and services, peaking at $111 billion in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, 2008, according to data compiled by Bloomberg Government.

* THANK YOU THEN-PRESIDENT BUSH, THEN-SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE PELOSI, AND SENATE MAJORITY LEADER HARRY REID!
