Welcome to today's Newsbites!
Still blogging from the library, but... saw Phil last night and he gave me a laptop to use temporarily (which I haven't hooked up yet due to my technophobia) till he can get around to setting up my file swap into my "new" 8200."
(Phil even gave me a mouse accessory for the laptop in the hopes that this would spur my courage to actually use it!)
Anyway... cross your fingers that when I get home I can work up the courage to plug the laptop into the power supply and DSL connection!
*** UPDATE ***
Oh, well... so much for the laptop.
Too many wires...
My wires which connect my phone jack to my DSL/Phone Line interface to my modem doesn't fit into the laptop phone wire jack.
(*SHRUG*)
No doubt I'm doing something wrong... but frankly... I just don't care enough to want to aggravate myself further trying to make heads or tails of all the wires under/behind my desk.

When burglar Kesler Dufrene became a twice-convicted felon in 2006, a Bradenton judge shipped him to prison for five years.
[B]ecause of his convictions, an immigration judge ordered Dufrene deported to his native Haiti.
That never happened.
* FIRST OF ALL, WHY WASN'T HE DEPORTED AFTER SERVING HIS SENTENCE FOR HIS FIRST CRIME...?!?!
Instead, when Dufrene’s state prison term was up, Miami immigration authorities in October 2010 released him from custody.
* WHY...??? UNDER WHOSE AUTHORITY...? A JUDGE HAD ORDERED THE DEPORTATION.
Two months later, North Miami police say, Dufrene slaughtered three people, including a 15-year-old girl in a murder case that remains as baffling today as it did the afternoon the bodies were discovered.
The episode is a black eye for U.S. authorities, who by law could not detain Dufrene indefinitely after the Obama administration ordered a temporary halt of deportations to the island nation. The deportations were halted because of the carnage wrought by Haiti’s January 2010 earthquake.
* AHH...! THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION - ULTIMATELY OBAMA HIMSELF - BEAR RESPONSIBILITY FOR THESE THREE NEEDLESS DEATHS!
“Because of the moratorium on removals to Haiti in effect when Dufrene came into ICE custody, his removal to Haiti was not likely in the reasonably foreseeable future,” an Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman said in a statement Friday.
* BUT IT WAS THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION'S RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE FOR SUCH EXCEPTIONS TO THE "TEMPORARY HALT" OF DEPORTATIONS TO HAITI. THEY FAILED. THUS... THREE PEOPLE - ONE A 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL - ARE DEAD.
Dufrene, a native of Haiti, had a long history of arrests in Manatee County, Florida — nine in all, his first at age 14 for battery on a teacher.
* HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN DEPORTED THEN.
In February 2006, Dufrene was on probation for stealing a car when he was rearrested, this time for burglary. He was found hiding in a bedroom closet in a vacant house in Manatee County. Neighbors wrestled him down and held him until police arrived. Dufrene claimed he was cold and looking for shelter.
In July 2006, deputies again arrested him after a homeowner surprised him inside another Manatee County home. Five months later, Dufrene pleaded guilty to one of the burglaries and violating probation, and was sentenced to five years in prison.
* FOLKS... THIS RECORD SPEAKS FOR ITSELF.
