Barker's Newsbites: Monday, November 1, 2010

Well, folks... tomorrow is Election Day.

So... those of you with land lines... how'bout all these damned robocalls?!

Notice folks, the same politicians (of both parties) who created "do not call" laws deliberately exempted their own calls which invade our privacy and waste our time.

Anyway...

(*SIGH*)

Tomorrow criminal scum such as Charlie Rangel and Maxine Waters will be re-elected to Congress.

(Hey... folks... this ain't partisan - they're just the first two I think of; no doubt there are quite a few Republican crooks who will be re-elected tomorrow as well.)

(Oh... and to be clear... just because the Congressional Black Caucus seems to be unusually chock full of criminals... even for a congressional caucus... there are no doubt a number of white crooks just as corrupt as the likes of Rangel and Waters.)

(Last point: At least Rangel seems like a jolly scoundrel. Waters comes off as a vicious, low-IQ whack job.)

Tomorrow I pray that Carl Paladino is able to pull off a miracle.

Is the guy a "hero" of mine or roll model - someone I look up to? No. But is he the only guy standing between Andrew Cuomo and the governorship of New York State...? Yeah...

I hope Christine O'Donnell wins in Delaware.

I pray Joe Miller wins in Alaska.

Ditto Dino Rossi in Washington state.

I can't get too worked up about Schumer - this is New York - but the fact that this idiot Gillibrand is going to be re-elected with no real Republican opposition just kills me.

Folks... if only New York would secede from the Union...

(*SIGH*)

I fear Barbara Boxer will be re-elected in California. And if Brown beats Whitman - as the polls seem to indicate is the smart bet - then damn the people of California to hell!

(Looks like Toomey is gonna win in Pennsylvania. So much for the views of the Frums of the vast RINO conspiracy...)

(*WINK*)

To reiterate, I hope the Dems retain technical "control" of the U.S. Senate. I certainly wouldn't want to see Mitch McConnell as Senate Majority Leader undercutting principled conservatives as he no doubt would while at the same time tarnishing the reputation of the the "new" GOP by returning to power (in the Senate anyway) the cowardly, dishonorable, hypocritical ways of the "old" GOP.

Nope... until DeMint and the other true conservatives can successfully supplant the Senate GOP "old boys and girls" network of "go along to get along" RINOs who act as the "Democrat Lite" wing of the Senate Republican Caucus, I'd rather let the REAL Democrats keep center stage as the party in power in the Senate.

As to the House...

All I can say it... Boehner better not screw up. He'd better walk the walk once he's Speaker. He'd better go after the Left with everything he's got!

O.K. Rant off. For now...

On to the newsbites...!

Employees at a CBS affiliate in Anchorage left an accidental voicemail for an aide to GOP Senate candidate Joe Miller in which they discussed and laughed about the possibility of reporting on the appearance of sex offenders at a Miller rally. And they chatted about responding with a Twitter alert to “any sort of chaos whatsoever” including the candidate being “punched.”

Mr. Miller’s campaign released the recording over the weekend, saying that KTVA reporters were heard “creating, if not fabricating, two stories” about Mr. Miller.

* FOLKS... THE RECORDING IS OUT THERE (AND AVAILABLE ON THE LINK PAGE) - AUTHENTICATED.

* FOLKS... HOW MANY SMOKING GUNS DO YOU NEED TO WITNESS GO OFF?

A [U.S.] military jury on Sunday gave teen terrorist Omar Khadr a 40-year prison sentence for killing an American commando in Afghanistan, but the sentence was merely symbolic - the United States already had agreed to limit Khadr's prison time to eight years, and Canada last week said it would allow Khadr to serve the bulk of his sentence there.

* BY "THE UNITED STATES" WE'RE TALKING PRESIDENT OBAMA.

Khadr, 24, looked straight ahead when the jury foreman announced the 40-year sentence.

The seven-officer jury was unaware that Khadr's sentence had already been set before they began deliberating Saturday.

* THIS IS HOW THINGS WORK IN CHIC... er... IN THE UNITED STATES IN THE AGE OF OBAMA. DISGUSTING.

Guantánamo's youngest captive had pleaded guilty to five war crimes, including hurling the grenade that mortally wounded Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Speer, 28, during a July 2002 assault on an al Qaeda compound. Khadr was 15.

The prosecution sought a 25-year sentence. Defense lawyers recommended repatriation. In a rebuke, the jury said he should be imprisoned until age 64.

* AGAIN, FOLKS.... "THE PROSECUTION" REPRESENTS THE WILL OF THE POWERS THAT BE - ULTIMATELY THAT OF THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF, BARAK OBAMA - THE JURY REPRESENTS WHAT'S BEST ABOUT AMERICA.

The Toronto-born Khadr also admitted that, in the days ahead of his capture, he planted mines intended to maim or kill U.S. and allied forces.

Khadr, raised in a militant Muslim family between a suburb of Toronto and Afghanistan, is Guantánamo's last Western-born detainee among the 174 held here. ... Former Army Sgt. Layne Morris, who lost an eye in the firefight that captured Khadr, said he was concerned that an eight-year sentence put the Canadian "on frankly the fast-track to freedom'' and "the prime of his life."

All the jurors refused through a Pentagon spokeswoman to speak to the 19 members of the news media on the base for more than a week to report the story.
