Well, folks, after a flurry of postings yesterday... nada.
Obviously no response from Nan Hayworth herself.
As for the rest of you... well... except for my buddy John Hicks I've received no emails, no phone calls, no comments. Par for the course unfortunately.
That's people for ya! People suck. (*SHRUG*) I try not to let it get me down.
If you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem - and as far as I can tell, most of you are part of the problem.
Short-sighted. Selfish. Oblivious. Lazy. That's most people.
Don't get me wrong! I'm not talking about the lack of direct response to me or this blog!
No!
I'm talking about knowing that few of you will actually push for what's right; those of you involved in politics are far more interested in the "game" aspect ("your team" vs. "their team") than in trying to prevent the filthy scumbag politicians of both parties from destroying our country.
I'm not naming names... but you each know who you are.
Those of you who have children... you should be ashamed of yourselves. But I know you're not. That's what gets to me.
Listen... it would be one thing is I thought you believed I was wrong... that I thought you believed all is well and that America is moving in the right direction... but I know you don't.
I know you folks get exactly what I'm saying! And yet... you won't do anything about it.
Oh, well... human nature is what it is. I know my "chiding" ain't gonna change that.
Hopefully the tiny minority of us who speak out, who contact our politicians directly, who attend rallies and make our voices heard will against all odds create an opportunity for the rest of you to wake up and do more than exist as pawns. (Yes... many of you very comfortable pawns... but pawns nevertheless.)
Anyway... (*SIGH*)... on to today's newsbites...

Bob Greenstein of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities claims that the Boehner budget is a form of “class warfare.”
* AND HE'S RIGHT - BUT NOT FOR THE REASONS HE THINKS! NOPE. BOEHNER'S PLAN ACTUALLY SETS INTO CEMENT MOST OF THE OBAMA WELFARE INCREASES OF THE PAST TWO AND A HALF YEARS.
President Obama has already increased federal means-tested spending from $471 billion in fiscal year (FY) 2007 to $701 billion in FY 2011. That’s a 50% increase. When fiscal contributions that state governments make to federal means-tested welfare programs are included, total spending in FY 2011 will come to $910 billion. That’s almost $10,000 for every poor and low-income person in the U.S.
According to Obama’s budget plans, this spending would not decline in future years. In fact, it will soon exceed $1 trillion per annum. Facing massive future deficits, the nation simply cannot afford this extravagance.
The Boehner plan does not contain transformational changes needed to control spending.
The federal government operates over 70 means-tested assistance programs. These programs provide cash, food, housing, medical care, social services, and training targeted exclusively to poor and low-income Americans. (Means-tested programs do not include Social Security and Medicare.) Moreover, welfare programs have failed to address the causes of poverty, and the capacity for self-support has actually declined.
The Boehner budget plan does not appear to require a rollback of [any appreciable] magnitude.
[Boehner's] plan would almost certainly leave intact much of the increases in means-tested welfare that have occurred in recent years.
Under the plan, it seems likely that means-tested aid to the poor would remain above pre-recession levels, even after adjusting for inflation.
The Boehner plan does not fundamentally change the approach to any spending, including anti-poverty spending, and therefore fails to control the explosive growth of welfare spending.

Rep. James Clyburn and a group of House Democrats are urging President Barack Obama to invoke the 14th Amendment to raise the debt ceiling if Congress can’t come up with a satisfactory plan before the Tuesday deadline.
(*SNORT*)
* FOLKS... AS WE'VE COVERED, THE 14TH AMENDMENT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DEBT LIMIT. THIS IS BASICALLY A CALL FOR VIOLATING THE CONSTITUTION.
Clyburn, the third-ranking House Democrat, said Wednesday that if the president is delivered a bill to raise the debt ceiling for only a short period of time, he should...turn to the phrase in the Constitution that says the validity of the U.S. government’s debt “shall not be questioned.” “If that’s what lands on his desk, a short-term lifting of the ceiling, the debt ceiling, he should put it on his desk next to an executive order,” Clyburn said at a press conference. “He should sign an executive order invoking the 14th Amendment to this issue.” The Associated Press reported that he was applauded when he suggested the idea at a caucus meeting earlier in the day.
* AND THIS IS THE THIRD-RANKING HOUSE DEMOCRAT! HE CALLS FOR TRASHING THE CONSTITUTION VIA "EXECUTIVE ORDER" AND HIS IDEA IS APPLAUDED. FOLKS... YOU NEED TO ARM YOURSELVES... YOU NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SHOOT. YES, FOLKS... IF NECESSARY VIOLENCE IS JUSTIFIED IN DEFENDING THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES.
Obama and others in his administration have said they will not rely on the 14th Amendment. At a town hall last week, Obama said that he has “talked to my lawyers” and “they are not persuaded that that is a winning argument.”
* EVEN BARAK HUSSEIN OBAMA ISN'T THIS NUTS...! WHAT'S THAT SAY ABOUT THIS MORON CLYBURN... THIRD-RANKING HOUSE DEMOCRAT?!
* BUT WAIT...!
“We’re getting down to decision time,” said Rep. John Larson (D-Conn.), the chairman of the Democratic caucus. “We have to have a failsafe mechanism and we believe that failsafe mechanism is the 14th Amendment and the president of the United States.”
* ...CHAIRMAN OF THE DEMOCRATIC CAUCUS...
* FOLKS... YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND HOW THESE PEOPLE THINK. (OH... AND NOTE... EVEN OBAMA DOESN'T COME RIGHT OUT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION AND CALL CLYBURN AND LARSON TRAITORS; NO, HE JUST DOESN'T THINK HE'D GET AWAY WITH IT!)
* FOLKS... WE'RE IN DEEP, DEEP, DEEP, DEEP SHIT...

Reid and Boehner are using the time-honored Washington dodge of “baseline budgeting,” meaning that the proposed cuts are not actual reductions in spending from year to year, but cuts from projected future increases. Thus, under both the Reid and Boehner plans, actual federal spending will continue to rise.
* THE END.
