John Kerry was introduced at the 2004 Democratic National Convention by Wade Sanders, a retired Navy Captain and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy who served as a Swift Boat officer in Vietnam.

Like Kerry, Sanders was the recipient of a Silver Star for [supposed] gallantry in action.

During the 2004 campaign, Sanders functioned as Kerry's lead attack dog against the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, repeatedly denouncing the veterans on the air as liars and comparing them to Nazi propagandists.

* WAIT FOR IT... WAIT FOR IT...

Wade Sanders is currently in Federal prison, serving a 37-month sentence for possessing child pornography.

Now the Navy Times reports that Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus has revoked Sanders' Silver Star.

The highly unusual decision appears unrelated to Sanders' felony conviction.

A Navy spokesman cited "subsequently determined facts and evidence surrounding both the incident for which the award was made and the processing of the award itself."

John Kerry has to be hoping this doesn't become a trend.

As one might imagine, the media has ignored this story. Even the Navy Times declined to post its own article online.

The Obama administration sought to intimidate witnesses into not testifying to Congress on Tuesday about whether ATF knowingly allowed weapons, including assault rifles, to be “walked” into Mexico, the chairman of a House committee investigating the program said in an interview Monday.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell E. Issa, California Republican, said at least two scheduled witnesses expected to be asked about a controversial weapons investigation known as “Fast and Furious”received warning letters from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to limit their testimony.

* FOLKS... UNDERSTAND... THE LEVEL OF CORRUPTION WITHIN THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION IS - LITERALLY - CRIMINAL.

Mr. Issa also said he is certain the Fast and Furious operation was known by most top officials at the Justice Department and that Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. either knew and misled Congress, or was so out of the loop that he’s guilty of mismanagement.

* LYING TO CONGRESS IS A CRIME.

[A]fter receiving subpoenas, at least two of the agents got letters from ATF Associate Chief Counsel Barry S. Orlow warning them to keep certain areas "off-limits," including those still under investigation. Neither of the targeted agents was identified.

* FOLKS... ASKING FOR CERTAIN INFORMATION TO BE SHARED IN PRIVATE WITH THE MEMBERS OF THE CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEE ONLY... THAT WOULD BE A FAIR AND REASONABLE REQUEST; BUT BASICALLY ORDERING AGENTS TO ENGAGE IN CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS... (*SHRUG*)

* AGAIN, FOLKS... THIS ADMINISTRATION OPERATES - AT BEST - "OUTSIDE" THE LAW; AT WORST... IN DEFIANCE OF THE LAW.

Mr. Issa said at least one witness wanted to back out of testifying to his committee after receiving the letter, but the chairman declined that request. Instead he fired a letter back to William J. Hoover, deputy director of ATF, saying the “timing and content of this letter strongly suggest that ATF is obstructing and interfering with the congressional investigation.”

In return for a $1 trillion debt-ceiling increase, and after a promise of $1.2 trillion in cuts, we get … $850 billion in actual savings over 10 years and just $1 billion this year, which plays directly into conservative fears of back-loaded deficit reduction that future Congresses will end up canceling.

I’d love to believe the Boehner plan is not a joke, really I would.

But I see that, right away, Obama gets a $1 trillion credit extension (our current $14.3 trillion credit line apparently not being enough) while the “real” cuts in spending - which are trumpeted because they purportedly exceed the increase in the debt ceiling - will supposedly take place over the course of a decade.

You have to say “purportedly” and “supposedly” because whatever this Congress does cannot bind any future Congress.

* HMM... SOUNDS FAMILIAR... NOW WHO IS THAT "USUALLY RIGHT" GUY WHO KEEPS ON NOTING THIS... (*GRIN*)

The only cuts that really matter are the ones made today.

So, leaving aside several other misgivings about the Boehner proposal - i.e., before we ever get to the other $1.5 trillion credit expansion President Obama would get next year, and the blue-ribbon committee half-staffed by Harry Reid that is going to solve all our spending problems - I have just one question:

Mr. Speaker, what are the cuts that will be made now in exchange for permitting the president to sink us another $1 trillion into the hole?
