Weekend Newsbites: Sat. & Sun., August 17 & 18, 2013

Is anyone reading this blog...?

(Rhetorical question... 72 page views yesterday, 2,956 last month, 68,445 all time as of this moment.)

I suppose what I'm really asking is, "Why are the rest of you not up in arms?"

Is it because you reject the premise - the facts - found each day within my newsbites and stand-alones?

Folks... you can reject my opinions... reject my prescriptions... even reject - to a point - how I connect the dots. But folks... unless you're rejecting the dots themselves... why do remain "You the Sheeple" instead fighting for your Rights as "We the People?"

Is it sheer complacency... material satisfaction...?

Is it fear?

Is it simply that you feel nothing you say or do will make a difference so why rock the boat?

Hey... I'm no profile in courage myself! While reading between the lines gives even the casual reader of Usually Right a pretty good idea of where I stand, I'm careful not to put anything into writing that might result in a visit from the FBI, Secret Service, Homeland Security, or even the local police.

I'm not chiding you for not having yet marched upon Washington guns in hand...

(*RUEFUL SMILE*)

...but I am questioning why - to all appearances - most of you are not as upset as I am that our President... and presidents before him... that our Congress... and Congress' before this one... that our Supreme Court... and Supreme Courts before this one... have slowly but surely dismantled the Founder's Constitutional Republic to the point where the politicians, the media, and even "You the Sheeple" simply acknowledge that "yes... this is what has happened" and then switch the topic to A-Rod's suspension or some other popular culture "hot topic."

I post the news nearly every day... the news from mainstream sources, from international mainstream sources as well as domestic organs, from journals of opinion and blogs and think tanks and...

(*SHRUG*)

Do NRO pieces appear more frequently than HuffPost pieces? Sure! But the Left, Right, and "Center" are all represented here - if not always day to day, than certainly week to week! The NYT... Washington Post... UK Telegraph and UK Mail... ABC, CBS, NBC News...

(*SHRUG*)

So why - with so much evidence - is the reality that we have an out-of-control federal government led by an incompetent President with no regard for nor respect for the Constitution not leading to more public outrage?

And, folks... as you know... this isn't simply partisan disdain; Bush was willing to violate the Constitution... McCain couldn't care less about the Constitution... my friends and regular readers know my views on Boehner, McConnell, and the RINOs.

(*SIGH*)

Bottom line... the average American elected official nowadays has less respect for the Constitution and the Rule of Law than any preceding generation of politicians.

No... perhaps there was never a true "Golden Age" - even the Continental Congresses of the Revolutionary War period itself were full of incompetents and scoundrels - but look around you... look how deviancy has been publicly defined down now as never before.

Ask yourselves this: What political outrage could Obama possibly commit  that would cause Reid and Pelosi and the Democratic Party and constituencies to break with him... impeach, convict, and remove him from office?

While you're contemplating that question, ask yourselves another: Just assuming for the sake of argument that the elected Democrats in Washington are as bad as I claim they are... if the Democrats were to be "awarded" two stars out of ten on a 1-10 scale where ten represents respect for and adherence to the Constitution of the United States... what would be your star rating for the GOP leadership? Me... I'd give them three stars... tops.

America is in trouble, folks. Few deny this. And yet... more often than not the silence is deafening concerning how much further "You the Sheeple" will allow things to go.

Do you truly want a fascist state? Any oligarchy?

Folks... what sort of nation do you plan to leave your children?

Or do you consider this question "their problem?"

The brother of a Ayman al-Zawahri (the veteran terrorist leader of al-Qaeda) has been arrested according to Egyptian security forces.

* AND THIS IS GOOD... CORRECT...???

(*PHONING THE WHITE HOUSE NOW TO ASK*)

A security official said that Mohammed al-Zawahri, leader of the ultraconservative Jihadi Salafist group, was detained at a checkpoint in Giza, the city across the Nile from Cairo.

(*DOUBLE-CHECKING WITH SECRETARY KERRY TO MAKE SURE WE'RE NOT GOING TO DENOUNCE THE ARREST*)

Ayman al-Zawahri is credited by many as having been the 'operational brains' behind the 9/11 suicide attacks on the U.S. and to have approved the co-ordinated bombings on London’s transport system in in 2005 that left 52 innocent people dead. Mohammed Al-Zawahri's group espouses a hard-line ideology but was not clandestine prior to Egypt's July 3 coup. He was allied with ousted President Mohammed Morsi, an Islamist, whose supporters are now taking to the streets to protest the killings of its supporters in a security crackdown last week.

* DO WE YET KNOW WHETHER KERRY AND OBAMA ARE DEMANDING THE RETURN OF MORSI TO POWER...???

Authorities said earlier that al-Zawahri had commanded insurgents in Sinai Peninsula.

* AH... "MILITARY" EXPERIENCE; PERHAPS THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION WILL REQUEST THAT THE EGYPTIAN HIGH COMMAND RECRUIT AL-ZAWAHRI TO ITS RANKS...

(*SMIRK*)

For years second only to Bin Laden on the 'most wanted' lists of terrorists released by the U.S. in 2001, he has a £15-million bounty on his head and five years ago survived a missile strike aimed at killing him.

The terror chief is notorious in Egypt after being sentenced to death in absentia by an Egyptian military court in 1999.

He has also been indicted in connection with the 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.

* PERHAPS KERRY WILL OFFER HIM A JOB AS A SECURITY CONSULTANT?

(*SNICKER*)

Zawahri has repeatedly called for al Qaeda to seize control of a state, an elusive goal for the group. He wrote in his 2001 essay Knights Under The Prophet's Banner: 'If we do not achieve this goal, our actions will be nothing more than small scale harassment.'

* ON A SERIOUS NOTE... WOULDN'T IT BE NICE IF WE COULD BELIEVE OBAMA KNEW WHO THE (RELATIVE) GOOD GUYS WERE IN EGYPT?
