Weekend Newsbites: Sunday, March 2, 2014

What a friggin' disaster it is having this amateur poser in the White House...

(*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD*)

So... Putin called his bluff.  As Scott Wilson put it in today's Washington Post, "Rarely has a threat by a U.S. president been dismissed as quickly - and as comprehensively - as Obama's warning Friday night to Russian President Vladimir Putin."

Wow...

Just... wow...

As to Obama's minions...

(*PAUSE*)

I just wonder whom history will judge the more incompetent - Hillary Rodham Clinton or John "I voted for the bill before I voted against it" Kerry.

Folks... look around the world! It doesn't take a partisan to realize that as bad as Bush was, the present (choom?) crew running the country is running it into the ground! I mean... it's not just foreign policy... it's domestic policies... it's the Europization of the American economy... it's failure after failure after miserable failure!

We... are... so... screwed...

Republican Rep. Mike Rogers, the chair of the House Intelligence Committee, criticized the U.S.'s response to Russian aggression in the Crimea region of Ukraine, suggesting that President Barack Obama was being outsmarted by Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

"Putin is playing chess, and I think we are playing marbles — and I don't think it's even close," Rogers said on Fox News Sunday. "They've been running circles around us."

Rogers suggested that Russia has been so aggressive in the Crimea region because they believe that there is "nothing that can stop them." He said he believes that Putin would like to make Crimea part of the Russian Federation — but that it wouldn't stop there.

"I believe it's the naïve position of the National Security Council and the president's advisers that, if we just keep giving things to Russia, they'll wake up and say, 'the United States is not that bad,'" Rogers said. "That is completely missing the motivations of why Russia does what Russia does."

Rogers said there were few good options for dealing with Russia's military intervention in Crimea. Rogers said he would cancel U.S. participation in the upcoming G-8 summit in Sochi, Russia, something the White House said Saturday it was prepared to do if Russia did not withdraw its troops from Ukraine. Rogers also said Obama should make it clear that the U.S. will support Ukraine financially.

* FRANKLY, FOLKS, THIS WHOLE UKRAINE BUSINESS IS A MESS. IT'S CERTAINLY NOT A BLACK AND WHITE SITUATION AND U.S. INCOMPETENCE IN THE REGION DATES BACK TO THE CLINTON YEARS. WHILE THIS INVASION BY RUSSIA ISN'T SOMETHING I WELCOME, THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT UKRAINE IS WITHIN RUSSIA'S HISTORICAL AND GEOGRAPHIC SPHERE OF INFLUENCE AND WE - ESPECIALLY DURING THE BUSH YEARS - PAID ABSOLUTELY NO HEED TO THIS REALITY OR TO RUSSIAN FEELINGS.

* IT WAS ONE THING TO OPEN NATO MEMBERSHIP TO THE SOVIET "PRISONER" STATES OF EASTERN EUROPE; IT WAS QUITE ANOTHER THING - AND TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE - TO BAIT THE TIGER BY PUBLICLY DISCUSSING THE OPTIONS OF BRINGING GEORGIA AND UKRAINE INTO NATO.

* SOMEONE MIGHT WANNA ASK REP. ROGERS WHERE A BROKE U.S. GOVERNMENT IS GOING TO GET THE MONEY TO "SUPPORT UKRAINE FINANCIALLY" WHEN WE CAN'T EVEN COME CLOSE TO SUPPORTING OURSELVES FINANCIALLY!
