Barker's Newsbites: Monday, July 8, 2013

Read the article and view the video.

I'm curious; what do you folks think?

You know damn well what I think. But then again, I'm a simple man... a literate man; I've read and I understand the Constitution. I revere the Constitution.

(Plus... could you imagine my reaction to a drug dog scratching up Hank...?!)

Were the cops abusive? No. (Shocked...? Yeah... obviously that one good ol' boy wasn't used to being sassed...)

Do I blame the cops? Yes... not the officers; they're simply doing what they're told, and again, they weren't being abusive as such. But, yes... I blame the police brass and the various district attorney's offices and the courts for allowing this sort of thing.

Again... I'm curious... will anyone defend these so-called DWI stops via public comment here at Usually Right?

Jon Corzine will not be cuffed over MF Global’s improper handling of customers’ funds leading up to the commodity brokerage firm’s spectacular collapse in late 2011...

* OF COURSE NOT; HE'S A DEMOCRAT. FOLKS LIKE HIM AND CHARLIE RANGEL CAN DO ANYTHING THEY WANT TO DO.

Federal investigators have found no evidence that the disgraced Wall Street titan broke the law.

* WHAT A SURPRISE. FEDERAL INVESTIGATORS - WHO ULTIMATELY WORK FOR HOLDER AND OBAMA - HAVE FOUND "NO EVIDENCE" OF LAW-BREAKING.

Last week, Corzine was hit with civil charges by the Commodities Futures Trading Commission in connection with the illegal tapping of the funds, which were improperly co-mingled with the MFG’s house money in the firm’s final days.

* "ILLEGAL" TAPPING OF FUNDS... AND YET... NO EVIDENCE OF LAW-BREAKING. (FOLKS... IF YOU HAVE A BETTER EXPLANATION THAN GOOD OLD FASHIONED POLITICAL CORRUPTION I'D LOVE TO HEAR IT.)

The regulator also charged Edith O’Brien, MFG’s former assistant treasurer, for carrying out the illegal transfers in a desperate bid to keep the troubled company afloat. ... The CFTC lawsuit relied on recorded telephone conversations to support their allegation that Corzine was fully aware of the transfers. In one call, an employee told Corzine that some of the funds O’Brien transferred had not been returned, the lawsuit said. Corzine asked if O’Brien had received back “enough to be in compliance.” The employee replied, “No.”

* FOLKS... SERIOUSLY... IF ANY OF YOU HAVE BEEN WONDERING WHY THE RECENT LACK OF BLOGGING, IT'S STORIES SUCH AS THIS. THERE'S JUST SO MUCH IN THE NEWS THAT SO DISGUSTS ME THAT I'M LEFT APATHETIC AND DISHEARTENED TO THE POINT WHERE IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE MYSELF BLOG.

http://dailycaller.com/2013/07/05/law-requires-obama-administration-to-cut-off-egyptian-aid/

The $1.5 billion in U.S. foreign aid slated for Egypt next year is in jeopardy after the Egyptian army deposed democratically elected President Mohamed Morsi on Wednesday.

* NO; NO IT'S NOT.

Section 508 of the decades-old Foreign Assistance Act stipulates that “none of the funds appropriated or otherwise made available pursuant to this Act shall be obligated or expended to finance directly any assistance to any country whose duly elected head of government is deposed by a military coup or decree.”

* THE LAW...?!?! THAT'S WHAT'S GONNA STOP OBAMA? YEAH... UH-HUH...

* NOR WILL REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS BE CHOMPING AT THE BIT TO ENFORCE THE LAW; HELL... MCCAINIAC, GRAHAM, AND PETER KING WILL PROBABLY CALL FOR INCREASING FOREIGN AID! (MARK MY WORDS!)

A clause in the 2011 omnibus bill strengthens the provision, excluding from American aid any nation experiencing a “coup d’etat or decree in which the military plays a decisive role.”

* FOLKS... THE CONSTITUTION DOESN'T MATTER TO THESE PEOPLE; DO ANY OF YOU TRULY EXPECT A MERE LAW TO BE HONORED WHEN IT'S POLITICALLY INCONVENIENT?

John Bellinger, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, pointed out in his blog on Thursday that unlike many parts of the Foreign Assistance Act, the provision restricting foreign aid “does not include Presidential waiver authority.”

* SO...?

[T]he president also refused to call the takeover a coup, indicating his administration’s wariness to label events in Egypt before deciding how to proceed.

* PERHAPS HE'LL SIMPLY "DEEM" IT TO BE DEMOCRATIC ACTION BY OTHER MEANS. (*SNICKER*)

“The Egyptian military has long been a key partner of the United States and a stabilizing force in the region, and is perhaps the only trusted national institution in Egypt today,” House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said in a statement Wednesday. The ranking Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee echoed that sentiment. “In determining the future of U.S. assistance, the administration should look at the regional picture with our national security interests in mind,” Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker said in a Wednesday announcement. “Our long-standing cooperation with Egypt, which is essential for stability in the region, should remain a priority.”

Their comments indicate that the administration would face little protest from congressional Republicans if they decide to ignore or circumvent the law on foreign assistance.

(*SHRUG*)

* FOLKS... WE'RE SIMPLY NOT A NATION OF LAWS TODAY. THIS ISN'T HYPERBOLE - IT'S FACT.

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/buster/trayvon-martin/trayvon-martin-marijuana-usage-657901

Jurors in the George Zimmerman murder trial will be able to hear defense testimony that Trayvon Martin had small amounts of marijuana in his system at the time he was shot to death in February 2012.

* YEP... MEANING THAT ORIGINALLY THEY WERE *NOT* TO BE ALLOWED TO KNOW OF MARTIN'S DRUG USE.

(*SNORT*)

Zimmerman’s lawyers have previously argued that they should be allowed to introduce evidence of Martin’s drug use, pointing to text messages appearing to refer to his use of marijuana. Additionally, the attorneys also unsuccessfully argued for the admittance of a pair of photos of pot plants that were recovered from Martin’s cell phone.

In a ruling this afternoon, Judge Debra Nelson rejected a prosecution request to ban a portion of a toxicology report that revealed Martin had been smoking pot at some point prior to Zimmerman killing him with a single gunshot to the heart.

Nelson, who previously granted a prosecution motion to limit testimony about the government toxicology report, reversed herself in the wake of last Friday’s testimony by the medical examiner who performed the Martin autopsy. Zimmerman’s lawyers will apparently introduce findings from the government’s toxicology through the testimony of a defense forensics expert.

Medical examiner Shiping Bao told jurors that he had changed his opinion with regard to whether Martin’s marijuana level could have affected his physical or mental state on the night of the shooting. Bao initially concluded that the amount of THC in Martin’s blood would not have had any effect on the 17-year-old. However, during his testimony last week, Bao referenced Martin’s THC level, noting that “Marijuana could have no effect or some effect.”

* THIS BAO GUY SOUNDS LIKE A REAL WINNER..! (*SNORT*) MAKE UP YOUR FRIGGIN' MIND...!!!

In Zimmerman’s call to a non-emergency police line, he told a dispatcher that a person he was observing (who turned out to be Martin) appeared to be “on drugs.”

http://washingtonexaminer.com/recovery-woes-americas-second-largest-employer-is-a-temp-agency/article/2532778

Friday's disappointing jobs report showed that part-time jobs are at an all-time high.

Twenty-eight million Americans now working part-time.

Behind Wal-Mart, the second-largest employer in America is Kelly Services, a temporary work provider.

* ONE MORE TIME, FOLKS... DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER BOTH HOUSES OF CONGRESS AFTER THE 2006 ELECTIONS. THEY CONTROLLED THE HOUSE FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS. IN JANUARY OF 2009 OBAMA BECAME PRESIDENT. HE'S STILL PRESIDENT. HARRY REID AND THE DEMS HAVE CONTROLLED THE SENATE SINCE JANUARY OF 2007.

(*SHRUG*)

While part-time and temp jobs reached highs last month, full-time jobs decreased by another 240,000.

http://cnsnews.com/news/article/101m-get-food-aid-federal-gov-t-outnumber-full-time-private-sector-workers

The number of Americans receiving subsidized food assistance from the federal government has risen to 101 million, representing roughly a third of the U.S. population.

* HAIL CAESAR! (Er... I MEAN "OBAMA.") BREAD AND CIRUSES, FOLKS... BREAD AND CIRCUSES.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that a total of 101,000,000 people currently participate in at least one of the 15 food programs offered by the agency, at a cost of $114 billion in fiscal year 2012.

* NICE...

(*CLAP...CLAP...CLAP*)

[T]he number of Americans receiving food assistance has surpassed the number of full-time private sector workers in the U.S.

(*CLAP...CLAP...CLAP*)

The National School Lunch program provides 32 million students with low-cost or no-cost meals daily...

* BECAUSE GOD FORBID THEIR PARENTS - OR PARENT - PROVIDE LUNCH!

10.6 million participate in the School Breakfast Program...

(*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD*)

A “potential for overlap” exists with the many food programs offered by the USDA, allowing participants to have more than their daily food needs subsidized completely by the federal government. According to a July 3 audit by the Inspector General, the USDA’s Food Nutrition Service (FNS) “may be duplicating its efforts by providing participants total benefits in excess of 100% of daily nutritional needs when households and/or individuals participate in more than one FNS program simultaneously.”

* STICK A FORK IN US, FOLKS... WE'RE DONE.

California prison doctors sterilized almost 150 women over a four-year period because they didn’t want the state to have to provide welfare funding to any children they might have in the future, one of the top doctors admitted this week.

(*THUMBS UP*)

* AT LAST! SOME POSITIVE NEWS!

Saw the video of the DUI stop this weekend. This is a case of the cop not wanting to be there and some guy giving him grief. But the guy who made the video is entirely correct. You don't have to submit to a search without probable cause....and not wanting your car searched doesn't count as "probable cause." I would agree that the brass have to train their officers to know what people's rights are, although they really should already know this.

I'm absolutely against checkpoints. I think Reason.com posted a study that shows how it's a waste of resources and you're better off having these cops driving around in their cruisers, or on their bikes/foot trying to stop actual crime. Checkpoints automatically assume guilt, which I have a problem with.

Anyway, keep posting because I like to stop by and see what you have up.

Take care,
Moose
