From the AP:
The Obama administration will stop deporting and begin
granting work permits to younger illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as
children and have since led law-abiding lives.
* BLATANTLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL!
* ARTICLE 1; SECTION 8: THE CONGRESS SHALL HAVE THE POWER
TO ... ESTABLISH AN UNIFORM RULE OF NATURALIZATION.
The policy change, described to The Associated Press by
two senior administration officials, will affect as many as 800,000 immigrants
who have lived in fear of deportation. It also bypasses Congress...
* NICE OF THE AP TO NOTE THIS!
* SERIOUSLY, FOLKS... SUCH AN ACTION WOULD BE BLATANTLY
UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND TO CALL EVEN THE ATTEMPT "TYRANNICAL" IS NOT HYPERBOLE!
Under the administration plan, illegal immigrants will be
immune from deportation if they were brought to the United States before they
turned 16 and are younger than 30, have been in the country for at least five
continuous years, have no criminal history, graduated from a U.S. high school
or earned a GED, or served in the military. They also can apply for a work
permit that will be good for two years with no limits on how many times it can
be renewed.
* FOLKS... IT DOESN'T MATTER WHETHER THE PLAN SOUNDS
GOOD, BAD, OR INDIFFERENT TO YOU OR ME; THE PRESIDENT HAS NO RIGHT TO SIMPLY BYPASS
CONGRESS! IT'S IN THE CONSTITUTION...!!! CONGRESS - AND ONLY CONGRESS - HAS THE
CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY TO MAKE CHANGES IN OUR LAWS SUCH AS THESE! IF THIS IS
ALLOWED TO GO THROUGH... THEN AMERICA IS WITHOUT DOUBT NO LONGER A
CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC UNDER THE RULE OF LAW.
The policy will not lead toward citizenship but will
remove the threat of deportation and grant the ability to work legally, leaving
eligible immigrants able to remain in the United States for extended periods.
It tracks closely to a proposal offered by Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of
Florida as an alternative to the DREAM Act.
* FOLKS... IF RUBIO - OR ANY SENATOR OR SENATORS... OR
ANY CONGRESSMAN OR CONGRESSMEN - WANT SUCH LEGISLATION THEN IT'S UP TO THEM TO
GET IT WRITTEN AND PASSED! THE CONSTITUTION DOES NOT ALLOW THE PRESIDENT TO
BYPASS CONGRESS - EVEN IF CONGRESS ITSELF STEPS ASIDE FOR POLITICAL REASONS!
The change is likely to cause an outcry from
congressional Republicans, who are sure to perceive Obama's actions as an end
run around them.
* IT'S NOT JUST AN END RUN AROUND REPUBLICANS! IT'S A
BLATANT VIOLATION OF THE CONSTITUTION! EACH AND EVERY LOYAL DEMOCRAT SENATOR
AND CONGRESSMAN SHOULD RISE UP AND DECLARE THAT IF THE PRESIDENT ATTEMPTS TO
ISSUE THIS ORDER THAT THEY WILL ALLY WITH THEIR REPUBLICAN COLLEAGUES AND
IMPEACH THE PRESIDENT AND REMOVE HIM FROM OFFICE!
* OF COURSE THEY WON'T... THEY WON'T BECAUSE THEY DON'T
CARE ABOUT THE CONSTITUTION OR THE RULE OF LAW! THIS CROSSES A LINE, MY
FRIENDS... IF ALLOWED TO STAND THERE'LL BE NO GOING BACK. THIS IS CAESAR
CROSSING THE RUBICON.

Couldn't agree more Bill! I think the only place we may disagree is in the perception of our outrage. I believe the majority of Americans are outraged...this will not stand.
I realize you believe this, Chip.
Unfortunately... you're wrong.
If you watched tonight's news I doubt you heard one anchor, reporter, or interviewee take anywhere near as strong a line as I did and I'll bet you dollars to donuts that while the Sunday morning talk shows will indeed focus on Obama's decisions, the time will be split pretty much evenly between talking about that "rude conservative blogger" from Daily Caller (???) who "interrupted" the President's press conference with the other key topic being the partisan political effect (who wins, who loses) of the President's unconstitutional executive order.
And, Chip... THAT'S gonna be from people who actually FOLLOW politics!
As for the average schmuck... well... let's just count it as luck that Lindsey Lohan didn't actually DIE today or else that would have taken up the entire weekend in terms of news coverage.
Chip... bury your head in the sand if it makes you feel better. I don't know what else to tell you. The American People DON'T care. If they did Washington would be in flames right now.
(Yeah... hyperbole... but basically true.)
