Mitt Romney Defends the Constitution and the Rule of Law

Just kidding, folks... just kidding!

No! Don't be silly! Mitt Romney cares not one whit for the Constitution.

Here are the pertinent excerpts from Romney's interview yesterday by Bob Schieffer on the CBS Sunday Morning Talk Show "Face the Nation"

BOB SCHIEFFER: The President said, Friday, the government will no longer seek to deport eight hundred thousand of these young illegal immigrants who were brought into this country by their parents. I think you said this is just a short-term solution to a long-term problem, but would you repeal this order if you became President?

First of all, Bob, the proper first question would have been, "do you believe the Constitution empowers the President to take such unilateral action?"

Second of all, Bob, assuming Romney answered "yes," your next query would be "and where in the Constitution is this this power to be found, Governor?"

MITT ROMNEY: Well, let's step back and look at the issue. I mean, first of all, we have to secure the border. We need to have an employment verification system to make sure that those that are working here in this country are here legally and then with regards to these kids who were brought in by their parents through no fault of their own, there needs to be a long-term solution so they know what their status is. This is something Congress has been working on, and I thought we are about to see some proposals brought forward by Senator Marco Rubio and by Democrat senators, but the President jumped in and said I'm going to take this action. He called it a stopgap measure. I don't know why he feels stopgap measures are the right way to go and he...

BOB SCHIEFFER (voice overlapping): Well, what would you do about it?

Yeah, Mitt... what would you do about it...???

MITT ROMNEY: Well, as you know, he was President for the last three and a half years; did nothing on immigration. Two years, he had a Democratic House and Senate, did nothing of permanent or long-term basis. What I would do is I'd make sure that by coming into office I would work with Congress to put in place a long-term solution for the children of those that have come here illegally...

BOB SCHIEFFER (voice overlapping): Would you...

Mitt. Answer the man's question! Even though it's the wrong question, it's still the question! Would you reverse President Barack Hussein Obama's illegal executive order?!

MITT ROMNEY: ...and I've said, for instance, that those who served in the military, I would give permanent residents, too...

BOB SCHIEFFER: Sure, but would you repeal this?

First... what's Romney babbling about? He's "give" those illegals who join the military citizenship? Is that what the fool is saying? If so... under what authority...?!?!

Second... the actual Schieffer question regarding whether a President Romney would declare President Obama's illegal order null and void has still not be answered!

MITT ROMNEY: Well, it would be overtaken by events, if you will, by virtue of my putting in place a long-term solution with legislation which creates law that relates to these individuals, such that they know what their standing is going to be...

He actually does think he's running for King!

He actually has no clue that there's a Constitution... a written Constitution... that our Constitution created a federal Republic with states and a federal government of limited powers...

He seems totally oblivious to the whole notion of separation of powers...

BOB SCHIEFFER (voice overlapping): But would...

MITT ROMNEY: ..not just for the term of the President, but on a permanent basis.

Mitt Romney - like Obama - believes that laws are made via presidential declaration...!

Folks... you're reading what I'm reading... there's simply no other reasonable conclusion that can be drawn!

BOB SCHIEFFER: I won't keep on about this but just to make sure I understand, would you leave this in place while you worked out a long-term solution or would you just repeal it?

MITT ROMNEY: We'll, we'll look at that - we'll look at that setting as we reach that... but my anticipation is, I'd come into office and say we need to get this done on a long-term basis, not this kind of a stopgap measure.

(*HEADACHE*)

MITT ROMNEY: What the President did, he should have worked on this years ago. If he felt seriously about this, he should have taken action when he had a Democrat House and Senate, but he didn't. He saves these sort of things until four and a half months before the general election.

Folks... seriously... I'm trying to give this idiot the benefit of the doubt... but it's clear that while he believes it would have been... er... "nice"... for President Obama to have worked with Congress to get new immigration status laws on the books in the... er... usual (i.e. Constitutional) fashion... Romney doesn't view the President's blatantly unconstitutional actions as unconstitutional!

BOB SCHIEFFER: Well, why did you think he did that?

As for Schieffer... obviously Schieffer doesn't even consider such "details" as... oh... Constitutional restraints upon presidential power... as even worthy of consideration!

MITT ROMNEY: Well, I think the timing is is pretty clear. If he really wanted to make a solution that dealt with these kids or with the illegal immigration in America, then this is something he would have taken up in his first three and a half years, not in his last few months.

But... but... but... but...

Oh... never mind...

BOB SCHIEFFER: So he did it for politics?

MITT ROMNEY: Well, that's certainly a big part of the equation.

Folks. America is dead. We've got Obama and the Socialist Democrats on one side vs. Romney and the Corporatist Republicans on the other and together the power players on both "sides" make up the oligarchy that is slowly but surely destroying everything we hold dear.

None of these people give a fig about the Constitution!

None of these people consider themselves bound by the Constitution... by the Rule of Law.

What are We The People to do?

That's my point, exactly, Chip.

This is serious business and Romney - and indeed most of the folks at his level of "the game" are BAD people... VERY bad people.

They're "bad" in the sense that they're power-hungry and when and if given the chance they always do what they feel is in their personal best interest and to hell with Right vs. Wrong and to hell with the Ideals of our Founders.

I weep when thinking of how come November - for the first time in my life - I'm going to have to vote for the lesser of two evils and lay my principles aside for what I can only hope and pray is the greater good.

I am so ashamed of the vast majority of my fellow Americans, Chip. THEY have allowed this to happen. THEY with their ignorance and stupidity and selfishness and laziness.

I tried, Chip. I tried for years... for DECADES.

I tried from "the inside." I've fought from "the outside."

You keep your optimism, Chip - and I mean that sincerely.

Even if there's just a 1-1,000 chance that you're right and I'm wrong and that America can be saved from the oligarchy of a modern age the world still needs to look to miracles.

I'll continue to post what I post no matter how it physically hurts me to do so.

Yes, Chip... it PHYSICALLY and emotionally hurts me to follow and report what's happening to my beloved country.

Anyway...
