* TWO-PARTER... (Part 1 of 2)

http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-obama-immigration-20140726-story.html#page=2

Even as President Obama grapples with the crisis of immigrant children arriving at the Southwest border...

* GRAPPLES WITH THE CRISIS...? THE CRISIS HE INVITED...?

...White House officials are laying the groundwork for a large-scale expansion of immigrant rights that would come by executive action within weeks.

* WHICH WAS NO DOUBT THE PLAN ALL ALONG.

Officials signaled strongly Friday that Obama's move would shield from deportation large numbers of immigrants living in the country illegally, as advocacy groups have demanded.

* NICE DAY OUT TODAY, HUH? SUN IS SHINING... CLOUDS ARE WHITE, SKIES ARE BLUE.. A LITTLE HOT BUT NOTHING A DIP IN THE POOL WON'T CURE.

Roughly 5 million of the estimated 11 million people who entered the country without legal authorization or overstayed their visas could be protected under a leading option the White House is considering, according to officials who discussed the proposals on condition of anonymity.

* FOLKS... WE'RE BASICALLY BEING PREPPED TO ACCEPT THE COUP...

* ALL HAIL OBAMA!

Obama said last month that because Congress had failed to act on comprehensive immigration reform, he would take executive action to "fix as much of our immigration system as I can on my own."

* FUCK THE CONSTITUTION.

That move will come by the end of the summer...

* JUST RELAX FOLKS; SPREAD YOUR LEGS... DON'T TENSE UP... BREATH...

...White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer told reporters Friday.

* YAVOLL, HERR REICHMARSCHALL!

Obama could use his executive powers to expedite deportations...

* YES HE COULD! LEGALLY! CONSTITUTIONALLY! BECAUSE IN DOING SO HE'D BE WORKING WITH THE EXISTING LAW... WITHIN EXISTING LAW... IN PURSUIT OF ENFORCING EXISTING LAW. (ANYONE NOT SEE THE DIFFERENCE...???)

At the same time, he seems likely to act to prevent deportations of many of the immigrants already living, working and raising children in the U.S.

* WHICH IS NOT HIS CALL... NOT WITHIN HIS POWERS...

* IN THIS CASE OBAMA WOULD BE WORKING AGAINST THE LAW.

So far, more than 520,000 people have received permits to stay and work in the U.S. under the administration's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which was created in 2012...

* FOLKS. REMEMBER OBAMA WANTED THE LAW CHANGED. CONGRESS DIDN'T CHANGE THE LAW. SO... OBAMA SIMPLY CHANGED THE LAW UNILATERALLY.

* FOLKS... UNDERSTAND... OBAMA'S WAY IS THE ROAD TO DISASTER. HE'S NOT JUST FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGING AMERICA... HE'S DESTROYING THE CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC UNDER THE RULE OF LAW WE KNEW AS AMERICA AND CONVERTING HER TO "AMERIKA."

An estimated 57,000 unaccompanied minors, mostly from Central America, have crossed into the U.S. from Mexico since last October.

* OBAMA INVITED THEM! EVERY POLICY OBAMA PUSHED... EVERY SPEECH HE MADE ON THE SUBJECT... WAS LIKE RINGING A BELL TO CALL ANY AND ALL WHO WANTED TO COME TO AMERICA TO COME!

* TO BE CONTINUED...

* CONCLUDING... (Part 2 of 2)

Republicans, who balked at the administration's request for $3.7 billion to increase the number of deportation courts, bolster border security and care for the children who have arrived...

* FOLKS. WE'VE BEEN OVER THIS. OBAMA SIMPLY WANTS CONGRESS TO BORROW ANOTHER $3.7 BILLION... ADD IT TO THE NATIONAL DEBT... AND HE'LL SPEND IT AS HE SEES FIT. (HOW'D THE STIMULUS PLAN GO? WHERE'D THOSE TRILLIONS GO? FOLKS... THE LAST THING OBAMA WOULD SPEND THE MONEY ON IS ACTUAL BORDER SECURITY. WE HAVE HIS OWN RECORD TO ASSURE US OF THIS!)

...proposed a scaled-back plan Friday for less than $1 billion.

* AND YOU KNOW THEY'RE GONNA PORK THAT UP!

* FOLKS... WE CAN'T PAY OUR EXISTING BILLS ABSENT BORROWING! AND NOW MORE SPENDING... MORE DEBT? (HOW'BOUT PRIORITIZING SPENDING! ISN'T THAT WHAT YOU AND I DO? ISN'T THAT WHAT BUSINESSES DO...?!?!)

Senate Democrats have proposed $2.7 billion. Neither is expected to win support from both chambers.

* BUT, AGAIN... THOUGH THE REPUBLICANS SUCK... THEY "ONLY" SUCK $1 BILLION WORTH. THE DEMS SUCK - RESPECTIVELY - $2.7 BILLION AND $3.7 BILLION WORTH.

With Congress only a few days from its long August break, money is running out to care for the youths and process their immigration cases.

* IF YOU DIDN'T ALLOW THEM TO CROSS THE BORDER IN THE FIRST PLACE...

(*SIGH*)

Border Patrol agents have been working overtime, and Customs and Border Protection has racked up large bills to provide food and transportation to handle the influx.

* THE COUNTRY OF ORIGIN OF EACH ILLEGAL SHOULD BE DETERMINED AND THEIR COUNTRY OF ORIGIN SHOULD BE BILLED.

If Congress doesn't approve more spending, agency officials will have to divert money from programs that speed up cross-border trade and cargo, Customs and Border Protection chief Gil Kerlikowske said in a C-SPAN interview.

* OF COURSE THAT'S WHAT HE SAYS...

(*SMIRK*)

House Republicans have insisted on amending a 2008 law that guarantees hearings before unaccompanied children can be returned to their home countries. Senate Democrats mostly oppose that idea. The White House has sent mixed messages, initially saying Congress should change the law, then backing down after opposition from Senate Democrats.

(*HEADACHE*)

* BTW, FOLKS... RECALL... IN 2008 THE DEMOCRATS CONTROLLED BOTH HOUSES OF CONGRESS - HOUSE AND SENATE. THEY'RE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ROADBLOCK LAW, THIS ROADBLOCK TO COMMON SENSE!

* HELL... YA HAVE TO WONDER IF EVEN AS FAR BACK AS 2008 THE DEMS WERE PLANNING FOR TODAY'S OBAMA POLICIES OF FLOODING THE BORDERS... OF DISMANTLING BORDER CONTROLS FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES.

Republicans have also been split on immigration, with many conservatives arguing that Congress should not act because the administration cannot be trusted to enforce the immigration laws.

* THEY CAN'T BE...!!! (AND NOT JUST IMMIGRATION LAWS!) MY GOD, FOLKS... THERE'S AN ACTUAL RECORD!

But a majority of GOP lawmakers appeared prepared to break ranks with the conservatives and move ahead for a vote next week.

* PERHAPS... OR... THIS COULD BE THE LA TIMES TRYING TO PUSH THE RINOs FORWARD... SCARE THOSE WHO WOULD DEFEND OUR LAWS AND OUR BORDERS.

Under the House Republican proposal, Congress would reimburse states for deploying National Guard troops...

* AGAIN... FOLKS... VIA DEBT! VIA FLASHING THE OL' CREDIT CARD ONCE AGAIN!

...as Republican Gov. Rick Perry of Texas has done...

* WHAT EXACTLY ARE THESE TROOPS DOING? HOW MANY INVADERS HAS THE TEXAS NATIONAL GUARD PREVENTED FROM CROSSING OVER OUR BORDER? (METRICS, FOLKS... METRICS... FACTS... STATS... NUMBERS... WHERE ARE THEY?)

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2707189/Violent-transnational-drug-cartels-recruiting-unaccompanied-minors-Border-Security-facilities.html

Members of some of the United States' most notorious street gangs have infiltrated shelters housing illegal immigrant minors from Central America and are recruiting them, say Homeland Security sources.

An estimated 57,000 minors from Central America have flooded across the border from Mexico to the U.S. in recent months, and gang leaders are reportedly filling their ranks from among them.

Transnational gangs such as the Mara Salvatruca, also known as MS-13, and the 18th Street gang are using established juvenile members from Central America to cross the border and recruit other children to the cartels, say sources.

According to Fox News, Border Control agents have witnessed gang members using a Red Cross phone bank at the facility at Nogales, Arizona, to 'recruit, enlist and pressure' other minors into crossing the border.

Shawn Moran, vice president of the National Border Control Patrol Council, a union which represents border agents, says agents have witnessed the recruiting process.

The Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement said earlier this week that they have no knowledge or evidence that gangs are recruiting immigrant minors.

* YEAH... WHAT ELSE WOULD THEY SAY...?!

'We know it’s happening because agents are telling us,' Moran told Fox News. He said agents have overheard conversations in which recruits are given phone numbers to call after crossing the border in order to contact gang members.

http://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/213405-gop-border-patrol-agents-handcuffed-by-wildlife-rules

The Interior Department controls about 800 miles along the dividing line with Mexico, or about 40% of the total, with other land in the region owned by the Forest Service.

GOP lawmakers argue federal regulations intended to protect land and wildlife have become an obstacle for Customs and Borders Protection officers because they restrict their ability to drive near the border, build infrastructure or install surveillance technology.

“There is no doubt that the restrictions on accessing land along the border have made it more difficult for the Border Patrol to do their job,” said Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who traveled to McAllen County, Texas, earlier this month to meet with officials about the surge of child migrants into the United States.

Smugglers know where agents cannot patrol or monitor, Cruz said, so they target those areas when moving people across the border.

“It seems a common sense reform to say that the border patrol should be able to fully access and patrol the border,” he said.

* YEP. SOUNDS LIKE COMMON SENSE.

A House Republican working group led by Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas) this week recommended prohibiting the Interior and Forest Service from in any way hampering border patrol.

* MORE COMMON SENSE...

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), who accompanied Cruz, wants border security to play a larger role in how federal officials manage land. At a hearing this week in the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, she said officers sometimes cannot build roads or even trails on federal land. “We’re not asking for a major highway around there, but … we need to think about national security issues and how we enforce our own laws, when you juxtapose that with other priorities within the federal agencies,” she said.

* SOUNDS REASONABLE...

Democrats aren’t buying the GOP’s argument.

* BECAUSE DEMOCRATS DON'T WANT A SECURE BORDER.

(*SHRUG*)

This is not the first time that land restrictions have been drawn into the debate over border patrol. Many Republicans criticized President Obama in May for creating the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument, abutting the border in New Mexico. The designation, said Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), will “place additional burdens on Border Patrol personnel and limit access to high crime areas along the border, making it easier for drug smugglers and human traffickers to move in and out of the country.”

* WHICH OBVIOUSLY IT DOES!

Rep. Rob Bishop (R-Utah), the chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee’s subpanel with responsibility over national parks, has made border security a top issue, and introduced the National Security and Federal Lands Protection Act in an attempt to ensure that the issue is prioritized over environmental conservation.

* FOLKS... JUST AS ASIDE... SHOULDN'T STATE AND FEDERAL PARKLAND BE WITHIN OUR BORDERS? WHY WOULD WE WANT PARKLAND ABUTTING A BORDER...???

The Obama administration and congressional Democrats don’t see the problem.

* THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION AND CONGRESSIONAL DEMOCRATS ARE LARGELY BEHIND THE PROBLEM!

* FOLKS... THE BORDER PATROL SHOULD HAVE THE LAST SAY ON... OUR BORDERS. (AT LEAST IN TERMS OF WHERE ROAD ACCESS IS NECESSARY!) THIS IS SIMPLE COMMON SENSE.
