Weekend Newsbites: Sat. & Sun., March 29 & 30, 2014

Well... actually... just Sunday newsbites.

(*WINK*)

And probably not many of those!

Folks... what's you homepage? Mine is the Drudge Report. It wasn't all that long ago that just Drudge Report hat tips kept Usually Right stocked with newsbite material. No longer...

Think about it, folks - if the average American was an uninformed moron back in the age of a free and proactive press... well... where will the "New Media Norms" of the Age of Obama leave us?

Folks... ignorance is not bliss.

Barker's Newsbites: Thursday, March 27, 2014

Understand, folks, the "entitled class" isn't made up of only those on actual welfare; those employed by government... those whose livings depend upon government contracts... the status quo is good for them... further expansion of government even better for them...

I wish I could say that only idiots would support the likes of a Hillary Rodham Clinton. Unfortunately that's simply not the case. Perceived self-interest is a powerful enticement for most people. "Looking out for number one" is the guiding principle for most folks.

The thing is... it's an illusion. Sure... short term... voting for these scum may seem to make sense. But what of the long term? Look at what these people have done to our country in just the past five years plus?!

This is why I "waste" my time on newsbites. I shouldn't need to make the case - the case makes itself - but I do.

Wake up, people... wake up!

Barker's Newsbites: Wednesday, March 26, 2014

Folks... just to let you know... further Supreme Court rulings on ObamaCare minutia won't put Humpty Dumpty back together; our Constitution was directly and permanently torn asunder on June 28, 2012 when Chief Justice Roberts led a majority of the Court to violate their oaths of office and basically render the concept of the Constitutional Rule of Law moot.

Anyway... on to newsbiting... on to cataloging the history of the decline and fall of America... once home to the Free... once home to the Brave.

We're playing it by ear this year, folks! The Boys (Ted & Carl) are scheduled to arrive around 3:00 p.m. and then off to the Rushing Duck for some libations.

So... folks... (those of you who aren't world renowned Lighting Designers)... any thoughts on the Obama-Clinton-Kerry foreign policy?

Who wishes Putin was OUR President...?!?!

I mean... think about it! The guy loves his country... loves his people... puts his nation's interests first...

Obviously Putin is highly intelligent...

Skynet...

Revenge of the machines...

HAL 9000...

All I know is that during the night both my clock-radio and bedroom VCR...

(Yeah, yeah... it's the friggin' BEDROOM for God's sake!)

...reset themselves!

I awoke at 7:23 a.m. (according to my bedside clock-radio) only to note (after sitting on the john with the door open so I could see the cable box in Kim's bedroom) a moment later that "time had reversed itself" and according to Optimum the time was 6:24 a.m.!

At that point... being the husband I am... I shouted out "Honey...?! WHAT TIME IS IT...?!?!"

"Honey" replied, "6::25 a.m. according to my clock... 5:25 a.m. according to the VCR!"

(*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD*)

Oh, well... the good news... I'll get BOTH cups of morning coffee into me before leaving for a ride!

Barker's Newsbites: Monday, March 10, 2014

Let's see if I can get a few newsbites posted (in the comments section of this post).

New Tires...

I'm in a good mood!

Just purchased four new tires for Hank!

Discount Tires Direct...

Saved $45 as compared to TireRack! (Factoring in the whole package... including a $25 instant rebate off the four tire purchase deducted at checkout and a $30 Visa Gift Card to be mailed to us... thanks for opening a Discount Tires Direct account which allows us to pay off the tires over six months at no interest!)

Yokohama AVID Ascend - according to my research the best bang for the buck for Hank!

(Full disclosure... I did most of my research at TireRack... but while I'm grateful that they provide useful consumer generated survey data, bottom line... $45 is $45.) (Also... why take $610 out of my gainful capital when these guys are willing to provide me with six months of interest free money?!)

Once they're in... on they go... any necessary suspension work will be done... alignment of course... and Hank will once again be geared up for a safe, smooth, quiet, responsive ride... at speeds up 129mph/149 mph.

Anyway... just wanted to share my joy!

I Pledge Allegiance, to the Constitution, of the United States of America...

Now doesn't that make more sense, folks?

This thought came to me yesterday as I was scrolling down Face Book posts and comments.and came upon one dealing with the question of whether starting each school day with the Pledge of Allegiance was appropriate.

Funny... it's taken me more than 51 years... but for whatever reason... it "clicked" yesterday. The "problem" with "The Pledge" isn't centered upon free expression or even patriotism. No. The true PROBLEM with "The Pledge" is that the PLEDGE... the ALLEGIANCE... is being given to a symbol of government, not to the underpinning of government... the one and only foundation of LEGITIMATE government.

Apparently I'm not the only one who understands this! My childhood friend and fellow Face Book political agitator Sandy Smith Drayton sent me the following link. (Give it a read!)

If You Read Nothing Else This Week... READ THIS!

Know who Lee Stranahan is? Google him.

In any case, please... PLEASE... click the link above and read "The Benghazi Cover-Up."

Is this the be all and end all...? No. Are Stranahan and myself 100% on the same page? No. That said... Stranahan's article would be REQUIRED READING if I have my way.

(Or... you could simply go through every post and newsbites on Benghazi featured here on Usually Right from 9/11/12  through the present... and continue reading in the future!)

Barker's Newsbites: Tuesday, March 4, 2014

Well, folks... here we are... today's newsbites!

As always... the actual newsbites will be found within the comments section of this post!

I Have No Problem With Vladamir Putin!

Anyone been disappointed in the "uneven" postings lately... or in the number of "vacation days" from blogging I've taken lately?

Well... if anyone is... you're always welcome to get me going with a post... question... commentary... of your own!

Nope. Not saying you have to. As I've always said, this blog is for me first and foremost and for the education and entertainment of my readers second.

Anyway...

RUSSIA... UKRAINE... PUTIN... OBAMA...

I've addressed the incompetence of Obama and his minions as it relates to foreign policy before. (Hell... same with Bush... check out the Bush era posts!)

I've also addressed my general views on Russia and Putin before... but perhaps they bear repeating:

I have no problem with Vladamir Putin!

I'd rather have the American equivalent of a Vladamir Putin as President of the United States than Obama!

Putin is a Russian patriot! He's a nationalist! He's an old-style "martial Christian" - Russian Orthodox of course. (The man believes in and respects God. He's "anchored." There's a moral/ethical center within him, though no doubt he'll "do what he has to do" when he feels he has to do it.)

PUTIN TOOK ON AND BEAT HIS NATION'S OLIGARCHS! (Did Bush? Has Obama?)

Putin believes in the greatness of the Russian People and will do all within his power to return Russia to  greatness! (Compare this to what we know about the Obamas... President Obama's efforts to "fundamentally change" America... the First Lady's lack of pride in America - until her husband's swearing in!)

You know what else? CHINA is our enemy! Our goal should be to enlist RUSSIA as our ally! Instead... under Clinton, Bush, and Obama... we've deliberately alienated Russia and in so doing pushed them ever closer to China!

Do I want to bring back the unitary dictatorship of the Soviet Union? No! But do I approve of baiting the Bear... of irresponsible (and frankly insane) proposals to bring Georgia and Ukraine into NATO? No!

Yes... taking the former Eastern European satellite states under our wing was one thing... the right thing... but actually encroaching upon - threatening - the existence of  Russia's historical sphere of influence? Outrageous and counterproductive!

Folks... understand... Europe is more of a burden than a trustworthy ally.

Folks... understand... sooner or later there will be a shooting war between ourselves and China.

The way things are heading... what I foresee is the U.S. being further and further abandoned, isolated, and ultimately challenged. Unless and until Japan remilitarizes there's only so much help they'll be able to lend us in a future conflict with China. (That is, if we don't "succeed" in alienating them as well!) As to the rest of our Pacific allies... yes... we have friends... but, again, how much of that friendship translates to burden rather than force-multiplier?

If (when) the shit hits the fan... we want Russia as an ally. More so than Europe! (Because as an enemy... Russia can cut much of Europe's energy imports and thus render them a gravely wounded "ally" even were they willing to "stay the course.")

Anyway... what's gonna unfold is gonna unfold. The Chinese communists were smart enough to realize that they could simply BUY the American oligarchy. (Buy 'em... and eventually dispense with them once they've so weakened their own country and so empowered China so as to give China the means to do so while suffering minimal damage in the doing...)

Anyway... ramble off!

F--k You, Chris Christie!

Mornin' gang!

So... blew out a tire - one of my snows ($169) - on Friday night while coming home from JFK. Hit a pothole going north right before Exit 2 of the PIP; luckily I was able to limp off the highway onto Alpine asphalt. Thank God for Joey Baby and his AAA card!

(While of course we could have changed the tire ourselves it was friggin' cold outside - and dark - and as it turned out a AAA guy was in the neighborhood so we were serviced and up and running within a half-hour of the initial disaster!)

A really nice Alpine cop stopped and stayed with us. A few PIP cops stopped by to chat as well. Turns out that in the previous week alone the cops had recorded over 400 blowouts on that two exit spanning stretch of parkway alone!

Imagine... just imagine if a private enterprise was so irresponsible as to allow the physical conditions of their parking lot or private road to deteriorate to the point where their customers experienced this degree of financial loss and risk of physical harm to life and limb. Do you suppose a private entity would get away with such outrageous conduct? Or would the government shut down such a private road or condemn such a parking lot? Might not criminal charges even be levied - let alone regulatory fines and perhaps civil action?

But... hey... this is government. They do what they want. (Oh... and by the way... this is Chris Christie, folks!  This is Jersey! Not that the New York span of the PIP isn't a mess - it is - but I've never in my life seen anything as bad as that Jersey span from the GWB thru the Exit 2 span!)

Weekend Newsbites: Sunday, March 2, 2014

What a friggin' disaster it is having this amateur poser in the White House...

(*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD*)

So... Putin called his bluff.  As Scott Wilson put it in today's Washington Post, "Rarely has a threat by a U.S. president been dismissed as quickly - and as comprehensively - as Obama's warning Friday night to Russian President Vladimir Putin."

Wow...

Just... wow...

As to Obama's minions...

(*PAUSE*)

I just wonder whom history will judge the more incompetent - Hillary Rodham Clinton or John "I voted for the bill before I voted against it" Kerry.

Folks... look around the world! It doesn't take a partisan to realize that as bad as Bush was, the present (choom?) crew running the country is running it into the ground! I mean... it's not just foreign policy... it's domestic policies... it's the Europization of the American economy... it's failure after failure after miserable failure!

We... are... so... screwed...
