Weekend Newsbites: Sat. & Sun., Oct. 5 & 6, 2013

Why are the scumbag politicians in the House of Representatives passing bills authorizing salary payments for hours not worked by federal workers who have been furloughed?

Yes, yes... I understand that some of you are no doubt thinking, "Because it's not the workers fault!"

So...???

Here's how the clowns at The Hill describe the House's latest action:

                                                   "The vote was a rare showing of bipartisanism..."

Yeah... bipartisanly paying people for not working - with your money and mine!

"The bill drew praise from the White House..."

Well of course it did! Obama is a very generous man... with our money!

While I don't believe the Senate has gotten around to passing this latest Screw The Taxpayer bill, you know they'll eventually get around to it. (When it comes to giving away taxpayer money... our "honorable" Members of the House and Senate are by and large "God Medal" champions!)

What is wrong with these people...???

Do I get paid when I don't work? No!

Wait... forget the comparison between business owner or paid by the job professional vs. salaried employee. Let's stick to apples vs. apples.

What happens to your average worker who gets canned? Fired... furloughed... even seasonal workers who regularly "have no work" for weeks or even months each year... isn't the norm for them to apply for (and in most cases receive) unemployment... unemployment compensation paid (at least in theory) out of unemployment funds collected as premiums?

Why should federal government workers be treated any differently than the average American whom they supposed work for...?!?!

I know some of you disagree with my view and set aside the points I've made. That would be fine and dandy if you people were the ones to have to pay for the "generosity" you support, but the problem is... I - and people who agree with me - are forced to pay too.

Indeed, the guy and gal who registered for unemployment on this past Friday... they're paying through their taxes (and the ever increasing debt piled upon their shoulders by government bond sales) for this latest privilege proposed for federal workers!

Anyway... it just steams me.

On to newsbites! (Found - as always - in the comment section!)

In general terms, politicians and the press may be referring to what has been happening in Washington, D.C., over the past few days as a government "shutdown" or a "partial government shutdown," but the actual accounting sheets of the U.S. Treasury show that massive amounts of taxed and borrowed money were flowing in and out of the government during the first two days of fiscal 2014.

According to the Daily Treasury Statement for Oct. 2, which was released yesterday at 4:00 p.m., the Treasury spent a total of $63.262 billion in the first two days of fiscal 2014. At the same time, it took in $25.681 billion in tax revenue.

* ONE... MORE... TIME...

...the Treasury spent a total of $63.262 billion in the first two days of fiscal 2014. At the same time, it took in $25.681 billion in tax revenue.

* THAT DOESN'T SOUND GOOD...

The Treasury also sold $1.648 billion in new Treasury securities - which is government debt.

* SO $1.648 BILLION IN NEW DEBT FOR THE AMERICAN TAXPAYER TO SHOULD WHILE THE SCUMBAG POLITICIANS IN WASHINGTON GET TO SPEND IT... AND THE SCUMBAG BANKERS AND TRADERS IN NEW YORK (WALL STREET) GET COMMISSIONS OFF OF THE SALE. NICE... REAL NICE...

Among the things, the federal government spent money on during the "partial government shutdown" was $1.129 billion in salaries for federal employees.

To put things in perspective, in the first two days of fiscal 2013 (Oct. 1-Oct. 2, 2012), when there was not a "shutdown," the federal government spent $124.409 billion...

* WOW...! GOD BLESS THE SHUT-DOWN! IN TWO DAYS IT'S SAVED AMERICANS ROUGHLY $61 BILLION!

...collected $29.057 billion in taxes, paid out $2.542 billion in federal salaries - and sold $100.91 billion in new Treasury securities (or government debt).

When the shutdown is over the federal government will be able to get back to business as usual...

* AND THAT'S A SHAME...

(*NOD*)

...and, depending on the outcome of the conflict over ObamaCare between the House Republicans and President Obama and Senate Democrats the government may or may not be able to add to its daily activities all those things that it will take to implement and pay for ObamaCare.
