Barker's Newsbites: Tuesday, May 14, 2013

So... eight months after the fact... the mainstream media are starting to ask some of the same questions concerning Benghazi that I asked from the beginning! Case in point:

"Why Clinton Didn’t Talk Benghazi on Sunday Shows"

Yeah, folks... that's the Politico headline... eight months later.

So far, the only high-ranking member of Obama administration to suffer politically from Benghazi is Susan Rice, who withdrew from consideration for Secretary of State late last year after blowback for reciting errant talking points on the Sunday shows after the attacks.

But Rice’s unwanted place at the center of the Benghazi firestorm raises one tantalizing question: Why was she the administration’s point woman with the press — or, more to the point: Why wasn’t Hillary Clinton, Ambassador Chris Stevens’ boss, the messenger?

Wow... what an insightful question... eight months after the fact. True professional journalism on display, here, folks!

Rice told NBC’s Brian Williams that Clinton was simply too tired to endure the grueling ordeal of five morning shows - the so-called “Full Ginsburg” - shortly after pulling her name in mid-December, under withering criticism from Congressional Republicans.

Uh-huh...

A couple points, here, folks: First... notice... Williams' - NBC's Brian Williams - became curious about this only in... er... mid-December...? (Benghazi: September 11, 2012.)

Second point: "Too tired...?!?!" An American consulate had been burned to the ground. A U.S. Ambassador - along with three other Americans - had been murdered by terrorists. And... er... umm... the Secretary of State was "too tired" to address the matter... "too tired" to take the five minute car ride from her Washington D.C. home to the Washington D.C. network news studios...? "Too tired" even to allow the networks to come to her... to interview her either in Washington D.C. or if necessary by remote from the Clinton's Chappaqua, NY estate...?

“Secretary Clinton had originally been asked by most of the networks to go on,” Rice told Williams. “She had had an incredibly grueling week dealing with the protests around the Middle East and North Africa. I was asked. I was willing to do so. It wasn’t what I had planned for that weekend originally, but I don’t regret doing that.”

"Incredibly grueling." Uh-huh. (And what does "dealing with" mean? Shouldn't that have been the question Williams and the rest of the mainstream media should have been asking from Day One? As far as it looks, the only "dealing" Clinton was engaged in was failing to deal!)

But three sources close to the situation tell Politico that it was less a matter of fatigue, and more a matter of Clinton not wanting to go on the shows.

Imagine that...

And by the way... assuming these three sources that Politico refers to are telling the truth... doesn't that indicate by extension that either Mrs. Clinton lied to Rice or that Rice lied to Williams?

The aides said Clinton had a “default” policy of rejecting all Sunday requests. None of the officials was willing to speculate on why the secretary wouldn’t make an exception after such an extraordinary event — or whether Clinton had wanted to avoid a controversy that could have compromised her political future.

Hmm... what do you think, folks?

West Wing officials would have little compunction about asking Clinton’s successor John Kerry to appear on the shows — but Clinton enjoyed a level of autonomy from West Wing meddling unique in the recent history of her department. Obama’s top aides, deferential and wary of reigniting old tensions with his 2008 foe, didn’t force the issue and scrambled to find a stand-in for Clinton.

Let's assume for a moment... for a second... that the above is absolutely accurate. What in God's name does this say about Barrack Hussein Obama?

But, wait, folks... let's examine the logic - or lack thereof - of what Politico is trying to sell here. Did Leon Panetta have the same "autonomy" as Clinton? He was logically next in line to represent the administration!

Or... they could have gone up rather than down; Vice President Biden could have taken the lead and appeared on the Sunday news shows to represent the administration!

The National Security Advisor... the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff... the Director of the CIA...

Folks... do you realize how relatively low on the totem pole Susan Rice was - and is? She ranks below the Secretary of Energy... who is preceded by the Secretary of Transportation!

On September 16, Rice told CBS’s “Face the Nation” that “we do not have information at present that leads us to conclude that this [attack] was pre-meditated or pre-planned...”

A lie.

And so it goes... and so it goes...

The IRS acting chief...

* HIS NAME IS STEVE MILLER. AND THE FACT THAT HE'S STILL EMPLOYED BY THE U.S. GOVERNMENT - AS ACTING IRS CHIEF NO LESS - TELLS YOU ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE LEVEL OF POLITICIZATION IN OBAMA'S WASHINGTON. (READ ON!)

On Monday, the IRS said Miller was first informed on May, 3, 2012, that applications for tax-exempt status by tea party groups were inappropriately singled out for extra scrutiny.

Congress, though, was not told tea party groups were being inappropriately targeted, even after Miller had been briefed on the matter.

* ONE... MORE... TIME...

* AND YET TODAY MILLER IS ACTING CHIEF OF THE IRS...?!?!

At least twice after the briefing, Miller wrote letters to members of Congress to explain the process of reviewing applications for tax-exempt status without disclosing that tea party groups had been targeted.

* WITHOUT DISCLOSING THAT TEA PARTY GROUPS HAD BEEN TARGETED... DELIBERATELY TARGETED... TARGETED BASED UPON THEIR IDEOLOGY, THEIR POLITICS, THEIR VALUES!

On July 25, 2012, Miller testified before the House Ways and Means oversight subcommittee, but again did not mention the additional scrutiny — despite being asked about it.

* YOU'RE READING WHAT I'M READING - RIGHT?

* AND TODAY... AT THIS VERY MOMENT... MILLER IS ACTING CHIEF OF THE IRS AS OPPOSED TO BEING IN A JAIL CELL AWAITING TRIAL!

* FOLKS... THE INMATES ARE RUNNING THE ASYLUM!

State prosecutors in the case against George Zimmerman are pushing to keep Zimmerman's attorneys from bringing testimony about Trayvon Martin's past during the trial.

(*SMIRK*)

* YEAH... I BET THEY ARE!

The state said in motions filed on Friday they want to prevent Zimmerman's attorneys from bringing up Martin's personal life, including his school records, previous suspension from school, fights, text messages sent prior to his death unless related to case and his social media use.

* FOLKS... UNDERSTAND... OUR CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM ISN'T ABOUT JUSTICE AND IT'S NOT ABOUT PROTECTING YOU AND ME.

The motion also says the state wants to prevent the defense from using Martin's toxicology report, which showed the level of marijuana in Martin's blood the night he was shot and killed.

(*SNORT*)

Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder after shooting and killing Martin in Sanford in February 2012.

* LISTEN... WHEN SOMEONE IS CHARGED WITH MURDER... HE OR SHE DESERVES ALL THE LEEWAY POSSIBLE IN TERMS OF MOUNTING A DEFENSE - EVEN IF PART OF THAT DEFENSE IS GOING ON OFFENSE.

* LET THE JURY HEAR ALL THE EVIDENCE... LET THE JURY DECIDE WHAT'S RELEVANT AND WHAT'S NOT AND WHAT TESTIMONY SHOWS OR DOESN'T SHOW.

* TWO-PARTER... (Part 1 of 2)

http://www.wafb.com/story/22240991/family-attacked-for-being-in-wrong-neighborhood

"I feel that's racist," said Henderson.

* WHAT'S RACIST...?!?! (READ ON TO FIND OUT...)

He was in the "wrong neighborhood" is just one reason a man gave as to why he was punched in the face. His wife and daughter were also hit.

* THE REASON HE SAID THIS WAS BECAUSE HE WAS TOLD THIS... RIGHT BEFORE HE WAS ASSAULTED!

Police arrested one man and ticketed two others. They are all accused of punching the family.

* YOU'RE GONNA "LOVE" THIS, FOLKS...

At the corner of Plank Road and Scenic Highway in Baton Rouge sits a Chevron gas station. It's off I-110 near Memorial Stadium. A family stopped there to get gas Sunday around 10 p.m.

* A WHITE FAMILY. (YEAH... IT'S RELEVANT... KEEP READING...)

"Upon our arrival, we located three victims who were attacked in the parking lot," said Cpl. Tommy Stubbs, spokesperson for the Baton Rouge Police Department.

The owners of the gas station did not want to comment on camera, but said there's a wide variety of customers in and out of the store in the daytime. At night, though, it's not the safest of places, especially with the area having some of the highest crime in the city.

"It was a small scene but it got to be a big scene after the fight broke out and it was a big scene when the police came," said Keisha Henderson, a witness.

Stubbs...

* THE POLICE SPOKESMAN...

...said a man wearing a pink shirt was in line trying to pay for gas when Donald Dickerson, 41, started making fun of him, leading to an argument.

* DICKERSON IS BLACK. (YEAH... AGAIN... IT'S RELEVANT; JUST READ ON!)

* TO BE CONTINUED...

William R. Barker said...

* CONCLUDING... (Part 2 of 2)

"The defendant (Dickerson) approached the white male victim," the police report stated. It went on to read, "the defendant told him he was in the wrong neighborhood and he was not going to make it out." The victim said that's when he "was punched and knocked to the ground."

At this time, his wife got out of the car and ran to help her husband.

The victim said, "he continued to struggle with the defendant and was eventually knocked unconscious, which later he awoke in the hospital."

His wife told police, "after running to help her husband, she remembers falling to the ground and (being) knocked unconscious."

According to a close family friend, that's when the couple's teenage daughter got out of the car to check on her parents and, "observed a female punch her mother in the face, when her mother then fell to the concrete, hitting her head on the surface."

The daughter was also punched in the face.

(*PURSED LIPS*)

"There were only three suspects but there were multiple people in the parking lot," said Stubbs.

Of those three, Dickerson was arrested and charged with second-degree battery. The other two suspects, Devin Bessye, 24, and Ashley Simmons, 22, were released on site after police wrote them each a summons for simple battery.

* WERE RELEASED ON SITE...??? SIMPLE BATTERY...???

When police were questioned about why all three defendants were not charged with felony second degree battery, Stubbs responded, "Because you have to have disfigurement for a second-degree battery charge, and only one victim had disfigurement and he was attacked by the one suspect that we booked."

* HERE'S THE PROBLEM WITH THAT ASSERTION:

Louisiana law defines second-degree battery as "bodily injury which involves unconsciousness, extreme physical pain or protracted and obvious disfigurement." The victim suffered "a broken eye socket, broken nose, and several lacerations to the face," and his wife was knocked unconscious.

* AND HIS WIFE WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS...

"I feel that's racist," said Henderson.

* THAT'S KEISHA HENDERSON... THE WITNESS.

* JUST AS A SIDE COMMENT, THE WRITING AND EDITING OF THIS PIECE IS ATROCIOUS!

As to why officers only charged one suspect with second-degree battery, police said under former Police Chief Dewayne White, officers were told to take all offenders to prison. Towards the end of his term, the policy changed and officers were told to use discretion. That's the policy in place now.

* AND THIS WAS THEIR IDEA OF "DISCRETION...???"

As to whether this falls under a hate crime, police said early reports show it does not meet the statute but remains under investigation.

* PERHAPS IT WASN'T A HATE CRIME. (*SHRUG*) BUT PERHAPS IT WAS. BUT PUTTING THAT ASIDE... WHY WERE ALL THREE SCUM NOT TAKEN TO JAIL? WHAT WAS THE BASIS OF "POLICE DISCRETION" IN THIS CASE?

All three defendants, Dickerson, Bessye and Simmons, have had run-ins with the law prior to Sunday's incident.

* WHAT A FUCKING SURPRISE...

(*SMIRK*)

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/scott-whitlock/2013/05/13/finally-56-days-later-abc-ends-blackout-and-covers-gosnell-house-h-0#ixzz2TDVLCX4t

Fifty six days after the grisly trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell began, ABC broke its self-imposed blackout and finally offered coverage.

As the Media Research Center has aggressively documented, ABC went from March 18, 2013 (the trial's start) through Monday afternoon with no coverage. (Yet during the same time, the network devoted a staggering 187 minutes - 70 segments - to other shocking criminal cases such as Jodi Arias and Amanda Knox.)

[Last night,] ABC World News anchor Diane Sawyer belatedly told viewers that Gosnell was convicted on three counts of first degree murder against newborn babies, as well as on a slew of other charges. [Sawyer's colleague,] Terry Moran explained, "For two months, jurors heard often shocking, grisly testimony." He described the details as a "house of horrors."

A house of horrors that ABC took 56 days to notice.

(*NODDING*)

Moran noted that "Opponents of legalized abortion seized on this case."

* YEAH? SO...???

The journalist quoted Jeanneane Maxon, the vice president of Americans United for Life. She asserted, "Well, Gosnell's not an aberration. Abortion clinics are unregulated and every year we see the deaths of women inside these clinics."

Nightline's Moran first highlighted the Gosnell case on Twitter, way back on April 12. But he has failed to cover the story until now.

* TWITTER. UH-HUH...

* THREE-PARTER... (Part 1 of 3)

http://www.humanevents.com/2013/05/14/the-heretic-at-heritage/

Jason Richwine, the young conservative scholar who co-authored the Heritage Foundation report on the long-term costs of the amnesty bill backed by the “Gang of Eight,” is gone from Heritage.

He was purged after The Washington Post unearthed his doctoral dissertation at the JFK School of Government.

Richwine’s thesis: IQ tests fairly measure mental ability. The average IQ of immigrants is well below that of white Americans. This difference in IQ is likely to persist through several generations.

And the potential consequences of this?

“A lack of socioeconomic assimilation among low IQ immigrant groups, more underclass behavior, less social trust and an increase in the proportion of unskilled workers in the American labor market.”

Richwine defended his 166-page thesis before Harvard’s George Borjas, Richard Zeckhauser and Christopher Jencks, who once edited The New Republic. But while his thesis was acceptable at Harvard — it earned Richwine a Ph.D. — it has scandalized the Potomac priesthood.

* UNDERSTAND, FOLKS... RICHWINE'S THESIS EARNED HIM A Ph.D. FROM HARVARD! DOES ANYONE READING THIS ACTUALLY BELIEVE HARVARD WOULDN'T HAVE DENIED RICHWINE HIS Ph.D. HAD THEY BEEN ABLE TO FIND ANY IRREGULARITIES WITH HIS RESEARCH METHODS...?!?!

* TO BE CONTINUED...

William R. Barker said...

* CONTINUING... (Part 2 of 3)

Our elites appear unanimous: Richwine’s view that intelligence is not equally distributed among ethnic and racial groups and is partly inherited is rankest heresy. Yet no one seems to want to prove him wrong.

In The Wall Street Journal last month, Warren Kozak noted that 28,000 students in America’s citadel of diversity, New York City, took the eighth-grade exam to enter Stuyvesant, the Bronx School of Science and Brooklyn Tech, the city’s most elite high schools. Students are admitted solely on their entrance test scores. Of the 830 students who will be entering Stuyvesant as freshmen this fall, 1% are black, 3% are Hispanic, 21% are white — and 75% are Asian.

* GO ASIANS!

Now, blacks and Hispanics far outnumber Asians in New York. But at Stuyvesant, Asians will outnumber blacks and Hispanics together 19-to-1. Is this the result of racially biased tests at Stuyvesant?

(*SNORT*)

At Berkeley, crown jewel of the California university system, 40% of California’s population and an even larger share of California’s young are 12% of the freshman class.

* HISPANICS. WE'RE TALKING HISPANICS.

Asians, outnumbered almost 3-to-1 by Hispanics in California, have almost four times as many slots as Hispanics in the freshman class.

Another example of racial bias?

(*SMIRK*)

The 2009 Programme for International Student Assessment, PISA, which measures the academic ability of 15-year-olds worldwide, found the U.S.A. falling to 17th in reading, 23rd in science, 31st in math. Yet - Spain aside - not one Hispanic nation - from which a plurality of our immigrants come - was among the top 40 in reading, science or math. (But these folks are going to come here and make us No. 1 again?)

(*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD*)

Is there greater “underclass behavior” among Hispanics?
The crime rate among Hispanics is about three times that of white Americans, while the Asian crime rate is about a third that of whites.

Among white folks, the recent illegitimacy rate was 28%; among Hispanics, 53%.

(*SIGH*)

According to one study a few years back, Hispanics were 19 times as likely as whites to join gangs.

(*BITING MY LOWER LIP*)

* TO BE CONTINUED...

William R. Barker said...

* CONCLUDING... (Part 3 of 3)

Six years ago, in “E Pluribus Unum: Diversity and Community in the 21st Century,” Robert Putnam, author of “Bowling Alone,” wrote that after 30,000 interviews he found that ethnic and racial diversity can be devastating to communities and destructive of community values. In racially mixed communities, Putnam wrote, not only do people not trust strangers, they do not even trust their own kind. “People living in ethnically diverse settings appear to ‘hunker down,’ that is, to pull in like a turtle … (to) withdraw even from close friends, to expect the worst from their community and its leaders, to volunteer less, give less to charity and work on community projects less often, to register to vote less, to agitate for social reform more but have less faith they can actually make a difference, and to huddle unhappily in front of the television.”

With the immigration bill granting amnesty to 12 million illegals, an open door to their dependents and a million new immigrants each year, almost all from the Third World, America in 2040 is going to look like Los Angeles today. Yet, it was in L.A. that Putnam found social capital at its most depleted and exhausted.

* THUS... BACK TO RICHWINE... (READ ON!)

If Richwine is right, America in 2040 will be a country with whites and Asians dominating the professions, and 100 million Hispanics concentrated in semi-skilled work and manual labor.

* OR PUT INTO "HIGHER" POSITIONS NOT BASED UPON MERIT, BUT BASED UPON AFFIRMATIVE ACTION!

The issues Richwine raises go to the question of whether we shall survive as one nation and one people.

* WE WON'T.

(*SHRUG*)

If our huge bloc of Hispanics, already America’s largest minority at 53 million, is fed by constant new immigration, but fails for a couple of generations to reach the middle-class status that Irish, Germans, Jews, Italians and Poles attained after two generations, what becomes of our “indivisible” nation?

(*PURSED LIPS*)

Rather than face this question, better to purge and silence the Harvard "extremist" who dared to raise it.

* SEE, FOLKS... YOU CAN'T EVEN TRUST HERITAGE.
