This is their America... where a guy is fired for airing his political opinions when asked!
In the Left's America first you distort someone's comments - lie about them - and then you punish them... because, folks... rants like this don't derail a career, but making the point that "natural enemies" golfing together was nothing more and nothing less than phony political posturing - shots for the camera - falsely portraying a bipartisanism that doesn't truly exist in terms of basic ideas and worldviews and where it does on occasion lead to "compromise"... far more often than not the American Taxpayer is the ultimate victim of said "compromise!
Folks... com'on... that's what Williams was getting at! The "Hitler" remark wasn't about comparing Obama to Hitler... to a Nazi... to an anti-Semite...

As for Williams later line about calling Obama and Biden "the enemy"... it was the media who linked that to the "Hitler-Netanyahu" crack; clearly Williams was answering a separate direct question.
Listen, was the "Hitler-Netanyahu" crack ill-advised - stupid, in fact? Yeah! But, com'on... deliberately advancing the false narrative that Williams "called Obama Hitler" in the sense of slurring him as a Nazi... as a mass murderer... that's just disgusting and unfortunately such sleaziness and dishonesty is an ongoing tactic of the Left.
Yes... "the Right" has engaged in more than a fair share of morally repulsive low blows over time, but frankly... the record clearly shows that not only does the Left engage in more dirty blows... but... the liberal media and the Left in general often grants their fellow-travelers a pass beyond any pass they'd grant to a dumb remark thrown out by a conservative.
Good for Country Music for rallying around "one of their own!"

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Many homes and other structures built along Missouri's Lake of the Ozarks may be allowed to remain after federal energy regulators on Thursday revised directions for how to "manage" the shoreline.
The Lake of the Ozarks is a 93-mile long lake created in 1931 by the Bagnell Dam and Osage hydroelectric project that now is operated by Ameren Missouri, a unit of Ameren Corp. The central Missouri lake has become a tourism destination for people living throughout the Midwest.
Conflict arose after Ameren in 2007 submitted a required shoreline management plan to the federal commission.

That plan noted that some structures had been built over time on land that actually belonged to the utility's hydroelectric project. The federal commission said that in most cases, the non-conforming structures should be removed in a timely manner and the site could be restored.

Lakeside residents have feared they could lose their homes, patios and boathouses after the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission said in July that many structures may have to go if they encroach onto land that is part of the Ameren Missouri hydroelectric project that created the lake. ... Several hundred people skipped a critical World Series game last month to attend a community forum, and federal legislation was filed by Missouri's delegation in the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate that called for barring regulators from ordering the removal of homes.

Speaking to reporters on a conference call, John Katz, the deputy assistant general counsel for energy projects at FERC, criticized how development along the Lake of the Ozarks has been handled. "Ameren, through its inaction, over the last eight years has needlessly raised public concern and has mistakenly led property owners to believe the commission has created the problem," Katz said.

...the federal commission directed Ameren to redraw its territory around the lake by June 2012 to remove unneeded land so that most homes and structures no longer are considered to be within the boundaries. For structures that interfere, Ameren was to work with landowners to find a solution to satisfy both sides. Federal officials said homes and other structures built on land for which the owners have a deed, lease or easement can remain and never were at risk of being torn down.

The chairman of the federal commission said in a written statement Thursday that the revisions should resolve all the outstanding issue...

Happy Valley was in bedlam early today as angry, chanting students ran amok in a bizarre climax to an unforgettable day that ended with the unthinkable: the firing of football legend Joe Paterno.
Chanting "Joe Pa-ter-no!" and "One More Game!" students raced to the stately Old Main administration building and on frat-house-lined Beaver Avenue...where demonstrators overturned a TV news van, toppled street lights, shook stop signs and threw toilet paper.

Alabama's Jefferson County filed for bankruptcy court protection on Wednesday in the biggest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history.

Commissioners for the county, which is home to Birmingham, the state's biggest city and economic powerhouse, voted 4-1 to declare bankruptcy after meeting behind closed doors for two days in a last ditch-attempt to restructure its debt out of court.

Costs ballooned as interest rates rose, and the county had teetered on the edge of insolvency since its debt was downgraded in 2008. With more than $5 billion in total indebtedness, the Chapter 9 filing on Wednesday surpassed that filed by Orange County California, in 1994.
Larry Langford, a Democrat and former mayor of Birmingham, was sentenced to 15 years in prison last year for his role in corrupt business deals that fueled the multibillion-dollar sewer debt. Langford presided over the county commission during the height of the bond swaps that led to the run-up of the massive debt.

The rap from Democrats [and their media allies] has been that Republicans refuse to touch revenues, preferring only to cut spending.
[S]o we were eager to listen yesterday when Pat Toomey called with the latest lowdown. Most notably, the Pennsylvania Senator explained why he and his five fellow Republicans have decided to put new tax revenues on the table.
Mr. Toomey explained that this week the GOP Six offered to raise revenues by $500 billion over 10 years as part of a tax reform that would lock in lower tax rates in return for giving up deductions.
Democrats have rejected it, which is puzzling since it would achieve so many of their stated goals.

The GOP offer would raise about $250 billion over 10 years by using some variation of economist Martin Feldstein's proposal that no combination of deductions could exceed, say, 2% of a taxpayer's adjusted gross income.

Another $40 billion or so in new revenue would come from changing the formula for adjusting tax brackets for inflation. And $200 billion more would come from a variety of asset and spectrum sales, user fees, tax compliance and other things...
* AH... SO THAT'S THE "OTHER" $250 BILLION SO AS TO GET BACK TO THE TOTAL OF $500 BILLION. ANYONE CARE TO MAKE A WAGER CONCERNING HOW REALISTIC SUCH ASSUMPTIONS ARE? (*SMIRK*) NOPE. ME NEITHER.
* AGAIN, FOLKS... THE COUNTRY NEEDS TO GET IT'S FISCAL HOUSE IN ORDER TODAY... NOT 10 YEARS DOWN THE ROAD.

As for spending cuts, Democrats would only have to agree to $750 billion over 10 years. About $180 billion of that would come from changing the inflation calculation for benefits, so the other reductions would hardly be extreme
