In an analyst note, Ethan S. Harris, head of developed-markets economic research at Bank of America Merrill Lynch drops a bit of a bombshell prediction:
"We expect a moderate slowdown in the beginning of next year, as two small policy shocks - another debt downgrade and fiscal tightening - hit the economy. The “not-so-super” Deficit Commission is very unlikely to come up with a credible deficit-reduction plan. The committee is more divided than the overall Congress. Since the fall-back plan is sharp cuts in discretionary spending, the whole point of the Committee is to put taxes and entitlements on the table. However, all the Republican members have signed the Norquist “no taxes” pledge and with taxes off the table it is hard to imagine the liberal Democrats on the Committee agreeing to significant entitlement cuts. The credit rating agencies have strongly suggested that further rating cuts are likely if Congress does not come up with a credible long-run plan. Hence, we expect at least one credit downgrade in late November or early December when the super Committee crashes."
(*SARCASTIC CLAP-CLAP-CLAP*)
* AGAIN, FOLKS... IF VIOLENCE ISN'T THE ANSWER... IF KILLING A FEW OF THESE FOOLS SO THAT THE OTHERS GET THE MESSAGE ISN'T THE ANSWER... WHAT IS? (SIMPLY SITTING BACK AND RELAXING AS THEY DRIVE THE CAR OFF THE CLIFF...???)
Afghanistan would support Pakistan in case of military conflict between Pakistan and the United States, Afghan President Hamid Karzai said in an interview to a private Pakistani TV channel broadcast on Saturday.
* ANOTHER OBAMA FOREIGN POLICY TRIUMPH...?

* HERE... LET'S GO TO THE VIDEO REPLAY:
Afghanistan would support Pakistan in case of military conflict between Pakistan and the United States, Afghan President Hamid Karzai said in an interview to a private Pakistani TV channel broadcast on Saturday.
"God forbid, If ever there is a war between Pakistan and America, Afghanistan will side with Pakistan," Karzai said in the interview to Geo television.
"If Pakistan is attacked and if the people of Pakistan needs Afghanistan's help, Afghanistan will be there with you."
Should taxpayers continue to guarantee personal McMansions, even as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have lost $142 billion, and counting?
* TAXPAYERS SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN FORCED (BY OUR ELECTED "LEADERS") TO "GUARANTEE" MCMANSIONS!
Homeowners who lived through the recent government-backed housing boom and bust would say no, but for Senate Democrats and a clutch of Republicans in hock to the housing lobby, the answer is a resounding yes.
* AND THOSE "REPUBLICANS" ARE:
Roy Blunt (MO); Scott Brown (MA); Saxby Chambliss (GA); Lindsey Graham (SC); Dean Heller (NV); Johnny Isakson (GA); Lisa Murkowski (AK); and Olympia Snowe (ME).
* THESE EIGHT "REPUBLICANS" SHOULD BE DRAGGED OUT OF THE CAPITAL AND BEATEN ON THE CAPITAL STEPS - LIVE!
That's a reference to Thursday night's 60-38 vote in favor of a measure to raise "conforming loan limits" for Fannie, Freddie and the Federal Housing Administration to $729,750 in certain markets for two more years. The limits dictate the size of mortgage that each agency is allowed to guarantee, and they had been reduced earlier this month as planned under previous law to $625,500.
* FOLKS... THE DEMOCRATS... SUPPOSEDLY THE PARTY "OF THE PEOPLE"... VOTED TO HAVE THE POOR, THE LOWER MIDDLE CLASS, AND THE MIDDLE CLASS SUBSIDIZE THE MCMANSIONS OF THE UPPER CLASS... THAT'S THE SORT OF HYPOCRISY ONE IS USED TO COMING FROM THE DEMOCRATIC POLITICAL ELITE... BUT IT'S THE ACTIONS OF THESE EIGHT SCUMBAG "REPUBLICANS" WHICH REALLY INFURIATE ME.
Even the Obama Administration recognized this subsidy train can't last forever if we want to reduce the role of government in housing markets. So it pledged in its February white paper on Fan and Fed to reduce the limits so "larger loans for more expensive homes will once again be funded only through the private market." Funny, then, that the White House didn't do more to stop Senate Democrats from repudiating this pledge.
* WELL, JEEZ... WE KNOW WHAT KIND OF MAN OBAMA IS. HE'S A LIAR AND A FRAUD.
