Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner didn't dispute a Harvard economist's estimate that each job in the White House's jobs plan would cost $200,000, but said the pricetag is the wrong way to measure the bill's worth.

(*BANGING MY HEAD AGAINST THE DESK*) (*SKULL FRACTURING...BLOOD SPOUTING INTO THE AIR*)

And he also pointed out, in an interview today with ABC News' David Muir, that there is no other option on the table for getting the economy moving and putting more people back to work.

* TIM "THE TAX CHEAT" GEITHNER IS A TOTAL INCOMPETENT... AND THUS EXPLAINS HIS HIGH POSITION WITHIN THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION.

* THIS ADMINISTRATION - AND IT'S ALLY, THE FED (BERNANKE) - ARE DESTROYING OUR ECONOMY BY DOING EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT'S NEEDED TO SAVE US.

* FOLKS... TWO WORDS: 1) REAGAN; 2) VOLCKER

The National Park Service says it has no time frame for reopening the Washington Monument, which has been closed to the public since cracks appeared after a 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck the area Aug. 23.

* WHICH PRETTY MUCH TELLS YOU ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT WASHINGTON... ABOUT GOVERNMENT... AND ABOUT THE CONTINUING DECLINE AND FALL A NATION ONCE LOOKED UPON AS THE GREATEST THE WORLD HAD EVER SEEN.

Engineers combed the interior of the 126-year-old monument after the quake and found pieces of mortar and rock, and aerial photographs showed a 4-foot-long crack at its top.

Interior damage estimates have been completed, officials said, and a five-day exterior assessment is scheduled to begin Tuesday.

* AND YET... (KEEP READING!)

The work so far has cost about $207,000, and the Park Service is expecting additional costs, Mr. Vogel said.

* FOLKS... RE-READ FROM THE TOP. NO REPAIRS HAVE YET BEEN MADE! IN FACT, WHILE INTERIOR DAMAGE ESTIMATES HAVE BEEN COMPLETED, EXTERIOR ASSESSMENTS HAVE NOT YET BEEN DONE. AND YET... $207,000 HAS BEEN SPENT. ON WHAT...?!?!

The exterior assessment will be led by a “difficult ascent team” from Northbrook, Ill.-based Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates Inc., an architecture and engineering firm that specializes in complicated construction projects.

* AND THE ARMY CORP OF ENGINEERS IS UNFIT FOR THIS DUTY...?!?! IT REQUIRES A PRIVATE FIRM FROM... er... ILLINOIS... TO DO THE JOB...??? HOW VERY CONVENIENT... (*SMIRK*)

* FOLKS... IF DOING NOTHING MORE THAN CHECKING OUT THE INTERIOR COST $207,000 IMAGINE WHAT ACTUAL REPAIRS ARE GOING TO COST WITH AN ILLINOIS FIRM AT THE HELM!

http://www.forbes.com/sites/sallypipes/2011/09/26/doctor-and-ama-split-over-contentious-issue-of-obamacare/

According to a new survey, the majority of doctors do not believe that the AMA (American Medical Association) represents their views and interests.

* DUH!

Much of that dissatisfaction stems from the organization’s support for President Obama’s contentious health care "reform" package.

* DOUBLE "DUH"...!!!

That shouldn’t be surprising. The AMA declares that its core mission is to “help doctors help patients.” But ObamaCare undermines that pursuit by making life harder for physicians and driving down the quality of care available to patients. (Increasingly doctors are turning to associations like Docs4PatientCare and the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons that actually do represent their interests.)

The survey - conducted by physician recruitment firm Jackson & Coker - is a brutal indictment of both the AMA and ObamaCare. Just 13% of doctors agree with their trade association’s support of the health reform law. Some doctors are even dissociating themselves from the AMA. Of those who have terminated their membership, 47% cited the organization’s continued backing of the health care law as the primary reason. In fact, the AMA now only counts about 17% of doctors as members.

The Jackson & Coker survey joins a large stack of research with similar findings. In February, the National Physicians Survey discovered that more than three times as many doctors believed that the quality of American health care would “deteriorate” rather than “improve” under ObamaCare.

http://www.detnews.com/article/20110927/OPINION03/109270322/Howes--Ford-pulls-its-ad-on-bailouts

For the only Detroit automaker that "didn't take the money" of the federal auto bailouts, Ford Motor Co. keeps paying a price for its comparative success and self-reliant turnaround.

As part of a [marketing] campaign featuring "real people" explaining their decision to buy [Fords], a guy named "Chris" says he "wasn't going to buy another car that was bailed out by our government," according the text of the ad, launched in early September. "I was going to buy from a manufacturer that's standing on their own: win, lose, or draw. That's what America is about is taking the chance to succeed and understanding when you fail that you gotta' pick yourself up and go back to work."

That's what some of America is about, evidently.

* BUT NOT ALL OF AMERICA! (READ ON!)

Ford pulled the ad after individuals inside the White House questioned whether the copy was publicly denigrating the controversial bailout policy...

* DID YOU EVER THINK IN YOUR WILDEST IMAGINATION THAT IT WOULD COME TO THIS, FOLKS?

(*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD*)

With President Barack Obama tuning his re-election campaign amid dismal economic conditions and simmering antipathy toward his stimulus spending and associated bailouts, the Ford ad carried the makings of a political liability when Team Obama can least afford yet another one. Can't have that.

* NOPE... CAN'T HAVE THAT... CAN'T HAVE THAT AS LONG AS THE LEFT CONTROLS THE LEVERS OF EXECUTIVE POWER...

The ad, pulled in response to White House questions (and, presumably, carping from rival GM), threatened to rekindle the negative (if accurate) association just when the president wants credit for their positive results (GM and Chrysler are moving forward, making money and selling vehicles) and to distance himself from any public downside of his decision. In other words, where presidential politics and automotive marketing collide - clean, green, politically correct vehicles not included - the president wins and the automaker loses because the benefit of the battle isn't worth the cost of waging it.

* FOLKS... IF YOU READ THE FULL ARTICLE YOU'LL NOTE THAT FORD HAS BENEFITED FROM TAXPAYER LARGESS AS WELL AND THAT (OFFICIALLY AT LEAST) FORD CONSISTENTLY SUPPORTED THE BAILOUTS OF ITS COMPETITORS (*SNORT*), BUT BOTTOM LINE... DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY DOUBT THAT POLITICAL PRESSURE ISN'T PLAYING A PART IN FORD'S DECISION TO PULL WHAT WOULD BE AN EFFECTIVE AD CAMPAIGN?

In 2008, using data provided by the Defense Department, the Heritage Foundation found that only 11% of enlisted military recruits in 2007 came from the poorest one-fifth, or quintile, of American neighborhoods (as of the 2000 Census), while 25% came from the wealthiest quintile.

* FOLKS... ONE MORE TIME:

In 2008, using data provided by the Defense Department, the Heritage Foundation found that only 11% of enlisted military recruits in 2007 came from the poorest one-fifth, or quintile, of American neighborhoods (as of the 2000 Census), while 25% came from the wealthiest quintile.

(*SHRUG*)

Heritage reported that "these trends are even more pronounced in the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program, in which 40% of enrollees come from the wealthiest neighborhoods, a number that has increased substantially over the past four years."

Indeed, the Heritage report showed that "low-income families are underrepresented in the military and high-income families are overrepresented.

Individuals from the bottom household income quintile make up 20% of Americans who are age 18-24 years old but only 10.6% of the 2006 recruits and 10.7% of the 2007 recruits. Individuals in the top two quintiles make up 40% of the population, but 49.3% of the recruits in both years."

* I KNOW... SIMPLY CITING STATS CAN MAKE YOUR EYES GLAZE OVER, BUT THIS IS THE SORT OF INFO THE AVERAGE AMERICAN CERTAINLY ISN'T AWARE OF - INFORMATION HE (OR SHE) SHOULD BE AWARE OF!

What about the charge that our Army is disproportionately black?

This too is false...

Whereas blacks comprise 17% of Americans ages 18-39 with high school degrees, they represent only a slightly larger proportion of enlisted soldiers, at 21%. (Meanwhile, whites were significantly overrepresented among enlisted Army personnel in 2010. While 58% of Americans 18-39 years old are white, 64% of the Army's enlisted men and women are.)

* INTERESTING, HUH?!

Whites are underrepresented to a minor degree in only one category, in which blacks are overrepresented: Army officers. While 74% of 25-54 year-olds with bachelor's degrees are white, 72% of Army officers are white. While 8% of 25-54 year-olds with B.A.s are black, 13% of Army officers are.

* VERY, VERY INTERESTING! (NOT TO BRAG, BUT I KNEW THIS - THE BASIC REALITY - PRIOR TO BEING EXPOSED TO THIS ARTICLE.)

Is it true that with a shaky economy, blacks have been driven to enlist in the Army in dramatically increased numbers? The 2010 numbers say otherwise. While 60% of 18-24 year-olds with a high school degree are white and 17% are black, 64% of new enlistees are white and 19% are black.

(*SHRUG*)

The missing bit of explanation for Army demographics is that Asians and Pacific Islanders, which make up the fastest-growing American demographic, are underrepresented in the Army, as are Hispanics. The explanation for the former is probably cultural, while for the latter it is a matter of difficulty speaking English. Only 12% of Army enlisted personnel are Hispanic, as opposed to 21% in the 18-39 year old population with a high school degree.
