Fishermen on New Hampshire's Seacoast are warning that new [federak] fishing regulations could destroy their industry...

* WHY DOES THIS NOT SURPRISE ME? (*SIGH*)

"If they don't do something to modify the fishing regulations, we won't have a fishing industry on the Seacoast, is what it boils down to," said Hampton Town Manager Fred Welch.

(*GRITTING MY TEETH*)

The new regulations are known as "catch-share."

* RIGHT OFF THE BAT THAT DOESN'T SOUND GOOD!

"One of the fishermen from Rye had said that there had been three suicide attempts and a half dozen divorces during this first year of catch-shares," said Bob Campbell of the Yankee Fisherman's Cooperative. "Commercial fishermen are usually pretty tight-lipped, and for something this serious to come out, I mean, you know that the whole situation is grave."

Campbell said the cooperative has lost about $750,000 in business since the new regulations went into effect.

"We're off 1.1 million pounds of fish from last year, and over a million and a half pounds from the year before," he said.

Local fishermen said they were told by the federal team not to discuss the new regulations, just their effects.

Even former President Clinton calls the Obama administration's deep water drilling policy "ridiculous."

(*NOD*)

In the year since the Deepwater Horizon spill, the Obama administration has put in place what is effectively a permanent moratorium on deep water drilling. It stretched out the approval process for some Gulf-region drilling permits to more than nine months, lengths that former President Bill Clinton has called "ridiculous."

* UNLESS... UNLESS, THAT IS... UNLESS YOUR GOAL IS TO "NUDGE" AMERICANS TO USE LESS ENERGY BY ENSURING THAT ENERGY PRICES ARE HIGH. (*SHRUG*)

[S]ince the Nixon administration, U.S. leaders have all made the same commitment to cutting our reliance on foreign oil, finding reliable sources of clean energy, and keeping energy prices low.

One bipartisan policy tradition is to deny Americans the use of our own resources.

President George H.W. Bush took aggressive steps to keep off-limits vast supplies of oil and gas along the coasts of California and Florida. Since then, the build-up of restrictions, limitations and bans on drilling (onshore and off) have cost the U.S. economy billions of dollars while increasing our dependence on foreign sources of energy.

* WELL... I WOULDN'T EXACTLY CALL PAPPY BUSH THE POSTER CHILD FOR CONSERVATISM... BUT I GET THE AUTHOR'S POINT.

* LAYING ASIDE WHAT OCCURRED DURING THE NIXON ADMINISTRATIONS ('69-'74) OR THE FIRST (AND THANKFULLY LAST!) PAPPY BUSH ADMINISTRATION ('89-92) LET'S ACKNOWLEDGE THAT AS A SIMPLE GENERAL STATEMENT OF FACT, REPUBLICANS FAVOR GREATER DOMESTIC ENERGY EXPLOITATION THAN DEMOCRATS. IN OTHER WORDS, THERE'S A CLEAR POLICY CHOICE HERE.

Then there's tax policy.

(*NOD*)

Why, when gas prices are climbing, would any elected official call for new taxes on energy?

[And] characterizing legitimate tax credits as "subsidies" or "loopholes"[...?] [Such tactics] only distract from substantive treatment of these issues. [Democratic] lawmakers misrepresent the facts when they call the manufacturing deduction known as Section 199 - passed by Congress in 2004 to spur domestic job growth - a "subsidy" for oil and gas firms.

The truth is that all U.S. manufacturers, from software producers to filmmakers and coffee roasters, are eligible for this deduction.

(*NOD*)

We won't achieve energy security by restricting our own companies from drilling or singling them out for punitive taxes.

* DAMN STRAIGHT!

[L]et's stop demonizing Big Oil to score political points.

* AGREED.

* BTW... THE AUTHOR OF THIS PIECE IS FORMER DEMOCRAT CONGRESSMAN HAROLD FORD, JR.

The U.S. spent $40.49 billion more than it collected last month, a Treasury Department report said Wednesday.

(*GRITTING MY TEETH*)

The monthly deficit was smaller than April 2010's shortfall of $82.69 billion.

* AH... BUT WHAT OF NEXT MONTH... AND THE MONTH AFTER... AND THE YEAR END... AND NEXT YEAR...?

With nine months of fiscal 2011 elapsed, the government has spent $869.90 billion more than it has collected - higher than $799.68 billion for the same period a year earlier.

* BEAR IN MIND (NOT AS AN "EXCUSE" BUT AS A MATTER OF FACT) THAT THE FISCAL YEAR STARTS IN OCTOBER; MEANING THAT THE DEMS STILL CONTROLLED NOT JUST THE WHITE HOUSE AND THE SENATE, BUT ALSO THE HOUSE IN OCTOBER 2010, NOVEMBER 2010, DECEMBER 2010, AND MOST OF JANUARY 2011.

So far in fiscal 2011, the U.S. has collected $1.31 trillion and spent $2.18 trillion.

(*STILL GRITTING MY TEETH*)

Outlays have gone up compared to last year for Social Security and Medicare, Treasury's budget statement said.

* YOU MEAN... (*PAUSE*)... THE PROGRAMS THE DEMOCRATS INSIST DON'T REQUIRE MAJOR OVERHALL...??? (*SNORT*)

Net interest payments on the ballooning public debt have also climbed this year.

* OH... FOLKS... THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING...!!! (*MASSIVE MIGRAINE HEADACHE BUILDING*)

The overspending is pushing up the debt, and the government is nearing its $14.3 trillion borrowing limit.

[Timmy "the Tax Cheat" Geithner's] U.S. Treasury has asked Congress to raise the ceiling, but House Speaker John Boehner, (R-OH), said this week there would be no debt-limit increase without significant spending cuts.

* STAND FIRM, BOEHNER! STAND FIRM...!!!

The Obama administration has projected the country will run a $1.65 trillion deficit in 2011. That would be the biggest shortfall in U.S. history. The 2010 deficit was $1.29 trillion.

* IF ONLY SEAL TEAM SIX WOULD TARGET... (OH... NEVER MIND...) (*GROWL*)

Wow! The AP poll has Obama’s approval rating hitting 60%!

And 53% say he deserves to be reelected!

(*CHUCKLE*)

* WAIT FOR IT... WAIT FOR IT...

It is a poll of adults... [but] you don’t have to be a registered or likely voter to have an opinion on the president.

[W]hen you get to the party ID: 46% identify as Democrat or leaning Democrat...

(*LAUGHING*)

...29% identify as Republican or leaning Republican...

(*GUFFAW*)

...4% identify as purely independent leaning towards neither party, and 20% answered, “I don’t know.”

(*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD IN AMUSEMENT*)

With a poll sample that has a 17-percentage-point margin in favor of the Democrats, is anyone surprised that these results look like a David Axelrod dream?

* I'LL LET YOU FOLKS READ THE ARTICLE - AND HOPEFULLY READ BETWEEN THE LINES - FOR YOURSELVES.

* MY TAKE? THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION IS DOING ALL IT CAN TO REINFLATE ANOTHER REAL ESTATE BUBBLE... THEY'RE DOUBLING DOWN ON PAST DISASTEROUS POLICIES... THEY'RE PUSHING A SOCIALIST AGENDA OF GOVERNMENT "CONTROL" VS. OUTRIGHT "OWNERSHIP." (ACTUALLY... THAT'S CALLED FASCISM.)

(*SHRUG*)

* SERIOUSLY, FOLKS... THE WAY THE AUTHOR SPINS THE STORY IT'S BETTER THAT YOU READ IT AS WRITTEN.

(*SNORT*) (*SMIRK*)

If the election of America's first African-American president was expected to give blacks an economic boost...

(*ROLLING MY EYES AT THE VERY IDEA*)

(*DRUM ROLL*) WAIT FOR IT... WAIT FOR IT...

[T]he percentage of African-American men with a job has dropped to its lowest level since records began in 1972, according to the government's monthly jobs report released last week.

(*BANGING MY HEAD AGAINST THE WALL*)

[T]he percentage of black males over 20 who are currently employed dropped slightly - to 56.9% - [a just released] April [Department of Labor] report shows.

(*SIGH*)

* HEY... I'VE GOT AN IDEA! LET'S BRING MILLIONS OF NON-ENGLISH SPEAKING ILLEGAL ALIENS ACROSS OUR BORDERS TO COMPETE WITH AMERICANS FOR JOBS! YEAH...! THAT'S THE TICKET...! O-BAM-A! O-BAM-A! O-BAM-A!

[Prior to the Age of Obama], the percentage of black adult men with a job had never dropped below 60%, according to Labor Department statistics.

(*PURSED LIPS*)

And among blacks, it's not just men who are suffering. Just 51.5% of African-Americans across the board...have a job, the numbers show. (That group includes 16- to 19-year-olds...)

(*SARCASTIC CLAP-CLAP-CLAP*)

* MORE IMMIGRATION! THAT'S THE TICKET! (*RUEFUL GUFFAW*) (*FIGURATIVELY SPITTING ON THE GROUND*)

Lindsay Lohan dodged a huge bullet today -- she won't be locked up in jail ... this after pleading no contest to misdemeanor theft.

* FOLKS... UPON FIRST GLANCE YOU MAY WONDER WHY I CHOOSE TO POST THIS. WELL, IT'S SIMPLE. IT'S TO ILLUSTRATE THAT WE THE PEOPLE HAVE SO LOST CONTROL OF THE MACHINERY OF GOVERNMENT THAT THE PEOPLE IN POWER DON'T EVEN ATTEMPT TO PRETEND THAT "ALL ARE EQUAL BEFORE THE LAW" AND THAT THERE'S ANY FAIRNESS - ABSENT MONEY, INFLUENCE, AND POWER - WITH REGARD TO OUR LEGAL SYSTEM.

Lindsay's attorney Shawn Holley entered the plea a few minutes ago - Lindsay wasn't in court.

* NOT EVEN REQUIRED TO APPEAR IN COURT.

Judge Stephanie Sautner said during the hearing, she doesn't believe Lindsay's problem is substance abuse, but rather her problems are more deeply rooted and she is self-medicating to relieve those problems. As a result, Judge Sautner is not requiring Lindsay to undergo substance abuse counseling.

* I'D LIKE TO GIVE JUDGE SAUTNER THE DEATH PENALTY.

* O.K., O.K., PERHAPS... JUST PERHAPS... A BIT DRACONIAN. I WANT JUDGE SAUTNER OFF THE BENCH. HOW'S THAT?

Lindsay will not get additional time for the theft.

* NO... OF COURSE NOT... WHO GOES TO JAIL FOR COMMITTING A CRIME WHILE ON PROBATION... (*SNORT*)

She will be required to serve 120 days for her probation violation...In reality, the 120 days will amount to 14 days.

* ON SECOND THOUGHT... YEAH... I WANT SAUTNER DEAD.

[T]he Sheriff's Department may allow Lindsay to do the time at home, with an electronic monitoring device.

* DEAD... DEAD-DEAD-DEAD...!!!

Smile, Texas schoolchildren. You're on calorie camera.

That's the idea behind a $2 million project being unveiled Wednesday in the lunchroom of a San Antonio elementary school, where high-tech cameras installed in the cafeteria will begin photographing what foods children pile onto their trays - and later capture what they don't finish eating.

Digital imaging analysis of the snapshots will then calculate how many calories each student scarfed down.

Local health officials said the program, funded by a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant...

* I SAY WE ALL GET IN OUR CARS, DRIVE TO WASHINGTON D.C., AND BURN THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE BUILDING TO THE GROUND.

* FOLKS... SERIOUSLY... OTHER THAN BY LITERALLY KILLING THE BASTARDS, HOW IN GOD'S NAME ARE WE GOING TO GET THEM TO STOP PISSING OUR MONEY AWAY...?!?!

* DEAD! I WANT THESE BASTARDS DEAD!!!
