Weekend Newbites: Sat. & Sun., Oct. 25 & 26, 2014

In the words of Michelle Zornes...

"So... I've been thinking about something you said months ago. The Democrats are pigs. Yes, Republicans have their share of them, but Democrats really can't get any more repulsive.

It is time to consider friendships and alliances. There is no 'benefit of doubt' anymore. Their goal is the destruction of all that is good."

Ms. Zornes was of course referring specifically to Friday's last newsbite, however... no one newsbites "justifies" such a sentiment.

(*PAUSE")

Do you know what DOES "justify" such a sentiment? Reality. (Yep... that's right; reality!)

Newsbite after newsbite, day after day, month after month, year after year...

(*SIGH*)

Seriously, folks... you know I don't make this $hit up! I provide the links! The vast majority of my postings come out of mainstream news reporting and pundits who - like me - harbor no illusions about the Republicans.

Bottom line: Usually Right is... SIMPLY... NOT... PARTISAN.

The system is what it is, however. We live within it. The Parties pick the candidates.

Again... as Michelle Zornes notes...

"The Democrats are pigs. Yes, Republicans have their share of them, but Democrats really can't get any more repulsive."

Unless one is a true Leftist... or unless one is tied into the Democratic Party in the sense of individuals being tied into an organized crime family... how can adherence to today's Democratic Party be justified... or even explained?

Again... the Republicans SUCK! But clearly as a matter of degree... the Democrats suck far, far, far worse.

Again... day after day I post my newsbites. The present reality is NOT my imagination! We're not talking "liberal vs. conservative" in the sense we understood the ideological battles of the '60's. The Democrats are now "The War Party" as much as the hawks within the GOP are! (Perhaps more so since Libya and everything which followed that disastrous insertion into another country's civil war!)

Obama is "President Drone Hit!" Commander-in-Chief "I Deem Thee Enemy of the State - Be Dead!"

(*PURSED LIPS*)

Obama is President "Right to Privacy - What Right to Privacy?"

While over time Obama's donor base has shifted, one thing is sure: Obama gets LOADS of support from "evil bankers" and "evil CEO's" and "the evil rich" in general.

Look around the country... gaze around the world... the Obama Presidency has been a disaster! (Unless one is rich; then you've probably done well - particularly the mega-wealthy.")

Folks... INDIVIDUAL READERS... either REALITY is gonna provide a wake-up check to you that you'll answer (even if grudgingly) on Election Day, or... face the fact: Voting FOR Democratic Party candidates is voting... DEMOCRAT. And voting DEMOCRAT is... voting AGAINST American values... AGAINST... AMERICA.

Must "We The People" regain control over the Boehner/McConnell/Bush GOP? Certainly. But let's prioritize. The American People GAVE the Democrats their chance. In 2006 we voted Republicans out of power in Congress. To this day the Harry Reid Democrats control the Senate. In 2008 we elected Barack Hussein Obama.

How's "the experiment" worked out so far, folks?

(*SPITTING ON THE GROUND*)

There are no perfect candidates; no perfect Parties.

That said...

THE BLEEDING MUST BE STANCHED.

Well said, and yes...it's the cumulative piling up of evidence. As you know, my decisions about friends and family are not made lightly. But we are now talking about the future of this nation, and the REALITY of what this means for the children of today. I am not even a parent, and it sickens me to see where this is headed. Indeed where it already is.

I finished thinking about what you said a while ago last night, after watching the feminist princess f-bomb video. There is no lower to sink.

Folks... just LOOK AT the rouges gallery of the Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight!

By one simple measure... SPP... (Scumbags Per Party)... there's simply no doubt as to the point I'm trying to get across.

ALL SHARPTON...?!?! Really...??? You need MORE than that? More than Pelosi... Reid... Biden... Obama... Obama's sycophants and cronies... the Clintons... the Clintons' sycophants and phonies...

(*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD*)

No, folks... you don't have the ethical right to ignore what's right before your eyes.

You don't have the moral right to use your vote to DESTROY America.

As I keep on saying, there are PLENTY of scumbag republican politicians... but the DEMOCRATIC PARTY... it's more like organized crime.

The percentage of U.S. Historical Climate Network stations to reach 90 degrees was the smallest on record this year, with four of the five coolest years occurring above 350 PPM CO2.

The most widespread heat occurred in 1931, when more than 98% of stations were over 90 degrees.

* TWO-PARTER... (Part 1 of 2)

http://nypost.com/2014/10/25/former-cbs-reporter-explains-how-the-liberal-media-protects-obama/

Sharyl Attkisson is an unreasonable woman. Important people have told her so.

When the longtime CBS reporter asked for details about reinforcements sent to the Benghazi compound during the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attack, White House national security spokesman Tommy Vietor replied, “I give up, Sharyl . . . I’ll work with more reasonable folks that follow up, I guess.”

Another White House flack, Eric Schultz, didn’t like being pressed for answers about the Fast and Furious scandal in which American agents directed guns into the arms of Mexican drug lords. “Goddammit, Sharyl!” he screamed at her. “The Washington Post is reasonable, the LA Times is reasonable, The New York Times is reasonable. You’re the only one who’s not reasonable!”

Two of her former bosses, CBS Evening News executive producers Jim Murphy and Rick Kaplan, called her a “pit bull.”

That was when Sharyl was being nice.

Now that she’s no longer on the CBS payroll, this pit bull is off the leash and tearing flesh off the behinds of senior media and government officials.

In her new memoir/exposé “Stonewalled: My Fight for Truth Against the Forces of Obstruction, Intimidation, and Harassment in Obama’s Washington” (Harper), Attkisson unloads on her colleagues in big-time TV news for their cowardice and cheerleading for the Obama administration while unmasking the corruption, misdirection and outright lying of today’s Washington political machine.

Calling herself “politically agnostic,” Attkisson, a five-time Emmy winner, says she simply follows the story - and the money - wherever it leads her.

In nearly 20 years at CBS News, she has done many stories attacking Republicans and corporate America, and she points out that TV news, being reluctant to offend its advertisers, has become more and more skittish about, for instance, stories questioning pharmaceutical companies or car manufacturers.

Working on a piece that raised questions about the American Red Cross disaster response, she says a boss told her, “We must do nothing to upset our corporate partners . . . until the stock splits.” (Parent company Viacom and CBS split in 2006). Meanwhile, she notes, “CBS This Morning” is airing blatant advertorials such as a three-minute segment pushing TGI Fridays’ all-you-can-eat appetizer promotion or four minutes plugging a Doritos taco shell sold at Taco Bell.

Reporters on the ground aren’t necessarily ideological, Attkisson says, but the major network news decisions get made by a handful of New York execs who read the same papers and think the same thoughts. One of her bosses had a rule that conservative analysts must always be labeled conservatives, but liberal analysts were simply “analysts.” “And if a conservative analyst’s opinion really rubbed the supervisor the wrong way,” says Attkisson, “she might rewrite the script to label him a ‘right-wing’ analyst.”

Often they dream up stories beforehand and turn the reporters into “casting agents,” told “we need to find someone who will say . . .” that a given policy is good or bad. “We’re asked to create a reality that fits their New York image of what they believe,” she writes.

* CONCLUDING... (Part 2 of 2)

Reporting on the many green-energy firms such as Solyndra that went belly-up after burning through hundreds of millions in Washington handouts, Attkisson ran into increasing difficulty getting her stories on the air. A colleague told her about the following exchange: “[The stories] are pretty significant,” said a news exec. “Maybe we should be airing some of them on the ‘Evening News?’” Replied the program’s chief Pat Shevlin, “What’s the matter, don’t you support green energy?”

Says Attkisson: That’s like saying you’re anti-medicine if you point out pharmaceutical company fraud.

Attkisson mischievously cites what she calls the “Substitution Game”: She likes to imagine how a story about today’s administration would have been handled if it made Republicans look bad.

In green energy, for instance: “Imagine a parallel scenario in which President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney personally appeared at groundbreakings for, and used billions of tax dollars to support, multiple giant corporate ventures whose investors were sometimes major campaign bundlers, only to have one (or two, or three) go bankrupt . . . when they knew in advance the companies’ credit ratings were junk.”

The administration, with the full cooperation of the media, has successfully turned “Benghazi” into a word associated with nutters, like “Roswell” or “grassy knoll,” but Attkisson notes that “the truth is that most of the damaging information came from Obama administration insiders; from government documents.

Similarly, though the major media can’t mention the Fast and Furious scandal without a world-weary eyeroll, Attkisson points out that the story led to the resignation of a U.S. attorney - and the head of the ATF - and led President Obama to invoke for the first time “executive privilege” to stanch the flow of damaging information.

When the White House didn’t like her reporting, it would make clear where the real power lay. A flack would send a blistering e-mail to her boss, David Rhodes, CBS News’ president — and Rhodes’s brother Ben, a top national security advisor to President Obama. In mid-October 2012, with the presidential election coming up, Attkisson says CBS suddenly lost interest in airing her reporting on the Benghazi attacks. “The light switch turns off,” she writes. “Most of my Benghazi stories from that point on would be reported not on television, but on the Web.”

Attkisson left CBS News in frustration earlier this year. In the book she cites the complete loss of interest in investigative stories at “CBS Evening News” under new host Scott Pelley and new executive producer Shevlin.

After reading the book, you won’t question whether CBS News or Attkisson is more trustworthy.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2014/10/26/deficit_day_124426.html

Every dollar the government spends from October 27 through the end of the year goes on the nation's credit card.

Spending at the rate of $10 billion a day, Washington will rack up about $660 billion in [additional] debt by the time the ball drops in Times Square.

Last year, we had 72 days.

In 2013, when Deficit Day landed on September 10, we endured a whopping 112 days in the red.

This annual fiscal madness has yielded a debt of $17.9 trillion.

* WITH THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE DEBT HAVING BEEN ACCRUED DURING THE OBAMA YEARS... DURING THE DEMOCRATIC CONTROL OF THE SENATE YEARS...

(*SIGH*)

When politicians talk about the debt, they invariably refer to the debt-to-GDP ratio, which is presently around 106%. That measure is fine for comparing debt levels across countries (it is noteworthy that the Greek and Cypriot economies imploded when their ratios reached 120%), but it doesn't tell us much about a government's ability to make good on what it owes. To measure the government's ability to repay its debt, we need to look at the debt-to-income ratio. That is 600%.

Alone, this would be cause for tremendous concern.

* BUT... IT GETS WORSE...

The government never pays a dime toward principal; it simply borrows more every year.

This means that we are fast approaching the point at which it will become mathematically impossible for the government to pay off its debt - ever. (And we're only counting the official debt.)

Excluded are unfunded liabilities like Social Security and Medicare benefits the government has promised but which it does not have the money to cover.

* OOPS!

With debt and unfunded liabilities of around 3,000% of its annual income, the federal government has already passed the point of no return.

The government currently pays 2.4% interest on its debt, and even at that remarkably low rate, it racks up almost half a trillion dollars in gross interest charges annually. The dangers of such a massive debt should be as obvious as they are terrifying.

For 2014, sequester cuts will total around $90 billion - an unimaginably large number. Yet at Washington's prodigious rate of spending, $90 billion doesn't even pay for ten days' worth of government.

Two years ago, Congress spent about six weeks discussing the wisdom of a $300 million cut to community block grants - a cut that would have funded the government for a grand total of 45 minutes. Where can they possibly hope to find the $660 billion that would balance the budget? No one ever says, because no one ever tries. All we get is much ado about nothing.
