Barker's Newsbites: Friday, September 6, 2013

I hope folks are reading the newsbites...

(*SHRUG*)

The "comments" ARE the "newsbites."

(I know... I know... you regulars are well aware... but for new folks who have somehow found their way here...)

It's funny... right now I'm listening to Glenn Beck's radio show (being guest hosted by Buck Sexton) and I'm hearing some of the points I touched upon in yesterday's newsbites being made anew.

No... no one is "stealing" from me.

(*CHUCKLE*) (*GRIN*)

My point is that it's rare to be able to count solely upon "real" media to tell the whole story while properly connecting the dots. This is why in addition to tuning in here at Usually Right each day, I strongly urge those of you with the ability to multitask to tune to Glenn Beck's radio show... and Rush Limbaugh's radio show...  and utilize these programs as "background chatter" to the soundtrack of your daily lives.

Folks. Fox News is basically the RINO Oligarch Network. You self-proclaimed "conservatives" need to accept this! Same with the Wall Street Journal! Now... am I saying don't read the WSJ...? Am I saying don't watch Fox News...? No! I'm simply saying that just as the actual methods, actions, and ultimately beliefs of the RINO wing (the dominant wing!) of the GOP are often closer to the worldview of the Democratic Party than not, so too do the bottom line policy prescriptions of Fox News and the broadcast networks (and CNN) often end up coalescing nowadays on issues such as war vs. peace and irresponsible vs. responsible economic policies.

(Remember, folks... the oligarchy straddles political parties; the self-proclaimed elite... they populate both parties!)

I don't always agree with Glenn Beck. Nor do I always agree with Rush Limbaugh. Nor do Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck always agree with each other!

I can throw in others whom I respect... men like Pat Buchanan and Mark Steyne... women like Camille Paglia...

(Yes... Leftist lesbian feminist Camille Paglia... just as I used to follow the late Christopher Hitchens...)

Walter Williams... Thomas Sowell...

Back to the radio you have Mark Levin...

In the political world I look to the Founders... to the Constitution... and to Ronald Reagan and Ron Paul... to Ted Cruz and Rand Paul...

(*SHRUG*)

Oh... and back to newsbites...

(*PAUSE*)

Every day I utilize "the liberal mainstream media" as my main "poaching ground" for newsbites! No one can deny that my "go to" organs are all over the ideological spectrum, from the New York Times to Mother Jones... NRO to HuffPost... the Washington Post and the Washington Times and the Washington Beacon and...

(*SHRUG*)

And Slate... Salon... the WSJ... the Weekly Standard... the Nation...

Folks... yes... I come at the news from a perspective - from my perspective - but just as my perspective can't really be looked upon as "Republican" or even "conservative" in the sense the likes of Karl Rove define such labels, it's also beyond debate that I use this blog not simply to convince, but to educate - and when it comes to truth vs. lies... I let the chips fall where they may.

So, read, folks! Read my newsbites! Read my stand-alones! And even if you don't always agree with me... even if you rarely agree with me... I guarantee that you'll learn a great deal here at Usually Right.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2013/09/06/Morsi-backers-terrorize-christians-in-egyptian-town

[i]n Egypt, a group of Islamists who back their nation's ousted leader, fellow Islamist Mohammed Morsi, have taken over the town of Dalga where 20,000 Christians now live under oppression, fear, and violence.

Already, a 1600 year old monastery has been burned and looted...

Forty Christian homes and businesses have been attacked (looted and burned), including the home of an 80 year-old priest...

President Obama's rush to "stabilize" Egypt by calling for the ouster of longtime leader Hosni Mubarak and immediate elections afterward, is widely seen as a crucial factor in bringing Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood to electoral power.

(*SHRUG*) (*NOD*) (*PURSED LIPS*)

Almost immediately Morsi attempted to seize dictatorial power by upending the Egyptian constitution. The military responded with a coup and now the nation's minority Christian communities are being victimized in this power vacuum.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/09/06/biden-wants-napolitano-on-supreme-court/

Vice President Joe Biden made it clear Friday how he feels about departing Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.

"I think Janet Napolitano should be on the Supreme Court of the United States," he said Friday morning at her going away ceremony.

His statement was met with raucous applause by those attending, including current and former cabinet secretaries, law enforcement officials, and Attorney General Eric Holder.

* GEEZUS...

(*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD*)

* AGAIN, FOLKS... THE FAR LEFT... THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY LEADERSHIP... THEY DON'T EVEN PRETEND THAT THEY VIEW THE SUPREME COURT AS A COURT AND NOT JUST ANOTHER POLITICIZED INTEREST GROUP WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO WORK HAND IN GLOVE WITH THE LEFTIST DEMOCRATS.

http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/terence-p-jeffrey/90473000-record-number-not-labor-force-almost-10m-under-obama

The number of Americans who are 16 years or older [who do not] participate in the nation's labor force has pushed past 90,000,000 for the first time, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

* DOES THAT SOUND LIKE THE STAT OF AN IMPROVING ECONOMY, FOLKS...???

In July, according to BLS, 89,957,000 Americans did not participate in the labor force. In August, that climbed to 90,473,000 - a one month increase of 516,000.

* 516,000... OVER HALF A MILLION... IN ONE MONTH...

(*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD*)

In January 2009, when President Barack Obama took office, there were 80,507,000 Americans not in the labor force. Thus, the number of Americans not in the labor force has increased by 9,966,000 during Obama's presidency.

* JUST SHY OF 10,000,000...

Part of the increase in the number Americans not participating in the labor force can be explained by Baby Boomers reaching retirement age and deciding to stop working...

* FAIR ENOUGH! (BUT THE KEY WORD THERE IS "DECIDING.")

(*SMILE*)

...and not be replaced by an equal number of younger people reaching age 16 and thus becoming part of the BLS labor force population. However, it is also true that the overall percentage of the non-institutionalized population over the age of 16 that is working or seeking to work in the United States - which BLS calls the employment-population ratio - has declined significantly in recent years.

(*SHRUG*)

From July to August, it dropped from 58.7% to 58.6%.

* APPLES TO APPLES, FOLKS...

In January 2009, when President Barack Obama took office, it was 60.6%. It reached an historical peak in April 2000, when it was 64.7%.

* COMPARE AND CONTRAST THIS NEWSBITE TO THE "HAPPY TALK" YOU'VE NO DOUBT BEEN HEARING AND READING VIA THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/07/business/economy/us-economy-adds-169000-jobs-as-unemployment-rate-falls.html?hp&_r=0

A disappointing jobs report on Friday raised doubts about whether the Federal Reserve would — or should — start pulling back on its stimulus program in a few weeks, as Wall Street has been expecting.

* WELL... WELL... WELL... KUDOS TO THE NYT FOR ADMITTING - IN THE VERY FIRST PARAGRAPH OF THIS STORY NO LESS - THAT TODAY'S JOBS REPORT IS "A DISAPPOINTING JOBS REPORT."

(*SINCERE APPLAUSE*)

The Labor Department’s snapshot of the job market in August had several discouraging details underneath a relatively average headline number...

* CUTE! "RELATIVE AVERAGE." WELL, FOLKS... SINCE THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT THE OBAMA YEARS THIS "RELATIVE AVERAGE" IN COMMON ENGLISH PARLANCE TRANSLATES TO: THE ECONOMY STILL SUCKS. THINGS MIGHT ACTUALLY BE GETTING WORSE!

...including a large drop in the share of Americans who are either working or looking for work. This measure, known as the labor force participation rate, was at its lowest level since 1978.

* AGAIN... KUDOS... THE NYT USUALLY BURIES SUCH STATS DEEP WITHIN THEIR STORIES. THANKS FOR SHOWING SOME HONESTY AND INTEGRITY!

(*STANDING OVATION*)

Earlier estimates of job growth in July and June were also revised sharply downward...

* FOLKS... GO BACK TO LAST MONTH... THE MONTH BEFORE... THE MONTH BEFORE. GO BACK TO THE NEWSBITE POSTS FOR EACH RELEASE DATE OF THE PAST MONTH'S ECONOMIC STATS. THEY'RE CONSTANTLY REVISING! CONSTANTLY REVISING DOWNWARD!

...and hiring over the summer months was largely driven by low-wage sectors like retail, food services and health care.

(*PURSED LIPS*)

* I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOTTEN INTO THE NYT... BUT... THEY'RE ACTUALLY REPORTING THE NEWS IN THIS ARTICLE!

(*HEARTFELT CLAP-CLAP-CLAP*)

* TO BE CONTINUED...

William R. Barker said...

* CONTINUING... (Part 2 of 4)

The number of payroll jobs added in August was 169,000...

* THE WORD "ADDED" IS MISLEADING." HERE'S WHY:

* TO REITERATE FROM THE PREVIOUS NEWSBITE: "...the overall percentage of the non-institutionalized population over the age of 16 that is working or seeking to work in the United States - which BLS calls the employment-population ratio - has declined significantly in recent years. From July to August, it dropped from 58.7% to 58.6%.

* SO MUCH FOR "ADDING."

[T]he unemployment rate edged down to 7.3% from 7.4%.

* BUT KEEP READING...

Unemployment fell for the “wrong reasons” though, said Diane Swonk, chief economist at Mesirow Financial: because people dropped out of the labor force and so were no longer counted as unemployed, and not because more unemployed people found jobs.

(*SMIRK*)

* TO BE METICULOUSLY FAIR, HOWEVER, ALLOW ME TO PROACTIVELY NOTE THAT U6 UNEMPLOYMENT ACTUALLY DECLINED IN AUGUST... GOING DOWN TO 13.7% FROM JULY'S 14%. (HEY... FAIR IS FAIR, FOLKS! IF I'M GONNA POINT YOU AT U6 WHEN IT'S GOING UP... I'M GONNA NOTE WHEN U6 GOES DOWN!)

There were some bright spots in the report, however, including a tick upward in the average number of hours worked and a 5-cent gain in hourly wages for private-sector workers. Over the last year, average hourly earnings have risen by 52 cents, or 2.2%.

* DO ANY OF YOU EAT... DRINK... OWN A CAR THAT RUNS ON GAS... PAY INSURANCE PREMIUMS... PAY TAXES... PAY TOLLS... PAY TUITIONS... (AND ON AND ON)? FOLKS... REAL INFLATION (NOT THE GOVERNMENT'S PHONY NUMBERS) IS FAR HIGHER THAN 2.2%.

* TO BE CONTINUED...

William R. Barker said...

* CONTINUING... (Part 3 of 4)

[T]here are [however] concerns about the quality of jobs being created. The industries driving hiring, like retail and food services, are more likely to hire part-time workers and operate on just-in-time schedules, making it difficult for employees to predict how many hours they will have from week to week. “It’s really frustrating not knowing whether I’ll have money to pay rent and my bills,” said Charles Eden, 20, who works at a Wendy’s in St. Louis for $7.60 an hour. Last week, he had 30 hours; this week, 12. Ideally, he wants 40. “It’s really hard to find a second job not knowing whether I can work or whether I can’t work in a given week.”

* AND THIS IS THE REALITY THE STATS DON'T ADDRESS.

As of August, there were 7.9 million Americans who wanted to work full time but could find only part-time work. When these workers and people who want a job but have stopped looking are included, the total underemployment rate rises to 13.7%.

* AH... FINALLY... THE NYT CATCHES UP AND THROWS OUT THE U6 NUMBER WHICH I'VE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED.

* FOLKS... BOTTOM LINE... FOR TODAY... FOR NEXT MONTH... FOR WHENEVER (UNTIL THEY CHANGE THE METHODOLOGY)... THE U6 UNEMPLOYMENT STAT IS THE ONE THAT MATTERS... THE ONE THAT YOU SHOULD BE PAYING ATTENTION TO AND USING.

The labor force participation rate remains so low partly because the population is aging and partly because workers are sitting on the sidelines as they wait for the economy to heal.

* WHICH BRINGS US TO THE REALITIES OF THE OBAMA-EXPANDED WELFARE STATE! A CERTAIN PERCENTAGE ARE "SITTING HOME" BECAUSE GOVERNMENT IS TAKING OUR MONEY AND BORROWING ON OUR BACKS IN ORDER TO PAY THESE BASTARDS TO STAY HOME!

* NO... THEY'RE NOT ALL BASTARDS... PERHAPS NOT EVEN A MAJORITY ARE SCAMMERS... BUT MANY ARE. MANY PLAY THE SYSTEM. AND, YES... THIS APPLIES TO WHITES AS WELL AS BLACKS AND HISPANICS... HASIDIM... (NOT SURE ABOUT ASIANS... REGARDING NATIVE AMERICANS, THEY'RE A SEPARATE CASE).

* TO BE CONTINUED...

William R. Barker said...

* CONCLUDING... (Part 4 of 4)

The big decline in the labor force in August was due entirely to men dropping out; the number of women in the work force actually grew.

* AND...? SO...? THE POINT BEING...? FRANKLY MY GUESS WOULD BE THAT THE WOMEN ARE BEING PAID LESS FOR LESSER JOBS. IF WE'RE TALKING THE WOMAN TAKING OVER FOR THE MAN YET NOT MAKING AS MUCH AS THE MAN MADE THE FAMILY IS TAKING A HIT. (AND BEFORE I'M ACCUSED OF SEXISM ISN'T IT THE FEMINISTS WHO CLAIM THAT WOMEN ARE PAID LESS THAN MEN...???)

“This suggests that much of the decline came from occupations that are male-dominated, such as construction, and that many former workers are becoming discouraged about their job prospects and dropping out of the labor force as a result,” said Mr. Handler.

* KINDA BACKS UP MY ASSUMPTION UP ABOVE...

(*SHRUG*)

Three-quarters of the jobs added in August went to women, noted Joan Entmacher, vice president for family economic security at the National Women’s Law Center. Most of the new jobs for women in August were in low-wage sectors though, and men have captured most of the job gains since the recovery officially began in June 2009.

(*SHRUG*)

* FOLKS... REALLY... AS ANYONE WHO KNOWS ME AND MY STYLE CAN ATTEST... I DO INDEED INSERT MY COMMENTARY AS I'M READING... I'M REACTING TO WHAT I'VE READ; THESE "GOTCHYA" COMMENTS - THEY'RE LEGITIMATE.

(*SHRUG*)

Some workers who took shelter from the poor job market by enrolling in college and retraining programs these last few years — which young women have been much more likely to do than young men — are finally starting to cycle back into the work force, and the lucky ones are finding new and higher-paying opportunities.

* AND THE COST OF THE COLLEGE AND RETRAINING PROGRAMS...??? (HOWEVER THE FUTURE ARRIVES, THESE COSTS ARE DEBITS FOR THE MOMENT!)

“I have people call me all the time now wanting to give me a job, and I have to say, O.K., thank you, but I think I have enough jobs now,” said Jordan Douglas of Pampa, Tex., a single mother working 60 to 70 hours a week in three jobs as a registered nurse.

* POINT TO PONDER: WHAT PERCENTAGE OF REGISTERED NURSES ARE FOREIGN-BORN IMMIGRANTS (TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT) TO AMERICA? INDEED, WHAT PERCENTAGE OF DOCTORS, HOSPITAL WORKERS, MEDICAL OFFICE WORKERS, MEDICAL TECHS, ARE FOREIGN-BORN IMMIGRANTS? (AND WHY AREN'T THESE JOBS BEING FILLED BY UNEMPLOYED AMERICANS WHO EITHER HAVE OR HAVE THE INTELLECTUAL CAPACITY TO ACHIEVE QUALIFICATION IN SUCH FIELDS?)

Ms. Douglas, 25, was laid off from a nursing home in February 2012 and struggled to find work. She decided to enroll in school full-time after finding a program that allowed her to continue receiving unemployment benefits while in training. Given her longer hours and higher hourly wage today, she now earns almost three times as much as she did before she was laid off.

* GOOD FOR HER!

“I couldn’t have been where I am today had I not gone back to school, and I couldn’t have gone back to school if I hadn’t gotten laid off,” she said. “I didn’t know it at the time, but it worked out perfectly. I have been so blessed.”

* NICE HUMAN INTEREST COMPONENT... BUT BOTTOM LINE... THE OBAMA ECONOMY SUCKS.

http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20130905/AUTO01/309050118/1361/Indiana-firm-acquires-MV-1-wheelchair-accessible-vehicle

Indiana-based AM General agreed to acquire the Michigan-based MV-1 wheelchair accessible vehicle funded by the Obama administration with a $50 million loan.

AM General said it had reached a deal with the U.S. Department of Energy to purchase the DOE’s secured loan to the Vehicle Production Group LLC. AM General bought the loan for $3 million.

* IN OTHER WORDS, THE TAXPAYER GETS "A HAIRCUT" OF $47 MILLION WHILE FOR A $3 MILLION "INVESTMENT" THIS PRIVATE COMPANY - AM GENERAL - GETS CONTROL OF VEHICLE PRODUCTION GROUP LLC. IF VEHICLE PRODUCTION GROUP LLC MAKES A PROFIT... THE PROFIT GOES TO AM GENERAL. IF THE "INVESTMENT" DOESN'T PAN OUT... AM GENERAL WRITES OFF THE LOSS. NICE!

* I WONDER... ARE THERE ANY PERSONAL LINKS BETWEEN AM GENERAL BIG-WIGS AND OBAMA ADMINISTRATION BIG-WIGS? (IN OTHER WORDS... WAS THE FIX IN...???)

The Obama administration said it will lose money on the investment. It previously recouped a $5 million reserve fund, so it’s not clear how much of the remaining $45 million it lost. But chances are it lost tens of millions of dollars, since there was little outside interest for the start-up. The Energy Department auctioned off its outstanding loan in recent weeks to exit the troubled investment.

http://buchanan.org/blog/just-whose-war-5852

Wednesday, John Kerry told the Senate not to worry about the cost of an American war on Syria. The Saudis and Gulf Arabs, cash-fat on the $110-a-barrel oil they sell U.S. consumers, will pick up the tab for the Tomahawk missiles.

Has it come to this — U.S. soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen as the mercenaries of sheiks, sultans and emirs, Hessians of the New World Order, hired out to do the big-time killing for Saudi and Sunni royals?

(*PURSED LIPS*)

The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations has joined the Israeli lobby AIPAC in an all-out public campaign for a U.S. war on Syria. Marvin Hier of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and Abe Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League have invoked the Holocaust, with Hier charging the U.S. and Britain failed to rescue the Jews in 1942.

Yet, if memory serves, in ’42 the Brits were battling Rommel in the desert and the Americans were still collecting their dead at Pearl Harbor and dying on Bataan and Corregidor.

(*NOD*)

The Republican Jewish Coalition, too, bankrolled by Sheldon Adelson, the Macau casino mogul whose solicitude for the suffering children of Syria is the stuff of legend, is also backing Obama’s war.

(*SNORT*)

Adelson, who shelled out $70 million to bring down Barack, wants his pay-off — war on Syria. And he is getting it. Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor have saluted and enlisted. Sheldon, fattest of all fat cats, is buying himself a war.

* F--KING PIECE OF SH-T BOEHNER...

Yet, is it really wise for Jewish organizations to put a Jewish stamp on a campaign to drag America into another war that a majority of their countrymen do not want to fight? [T]his war has debacle written all over it. Should it come, a divided nation will be led by a diffident and dithering commander in chief who makes Adlai Stevenson look like Stonewall Jackson.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Martin Dempsey is having trouble even defining the mission. While Obama says it will be an in-and-out strike of hours, a “shot across the bow,” John McCain says the Senate resolution authorizes robust strikes, lethal aid to the rebels and a campaign to bring down Bashar Assad.

* AND THAT'S MCCAIN ON ONE DAY; ANOTHER DAY HE MAY HOLD ANOTHER POSITION! (THE OLD BASTARD IS SENILE!)

If the Republican Party backs this war, it will own this war.

(*NOD*)

And U.S. involvement will last not for days, but for the duration.

* WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN OUT OF AFGHANISTAN YEARS AGO!

* TO BE CONTINUED...

William R. Barker said...

* CONCLUDING... (Part 2 of 2)

And if our power is unleashed, our prestige and superpower status go on the line.

(*NOD*)

If the rebels then lose, we lose.

(*NOD*)

And if the rebels win, who wins? Is it the same jihadists who just shelled that Christian village and terrorized that convent of Christian nuns? Is it the same rebels seen on the front page of Thursday’s New York Times about to execute, Einsatzgruppen-style, captive Syrian soldiers, forgetting only to have the victims of their war crime dig their own graves first?

(*SIGH*)

Does the Republican Party really want to own a war that could end with al-Qaida in power or occupying sanctuaries in Syria?

Does the U.S. Jewish community really want to be responsible for starting a war that ends with two million Christian Syrians facing a fate not unlike that of Poland’s Jews?

About the debate on this war, there is an aspect of the absurd. We are told we must punish Assad for killing Syrians with gas, but we do not want Assad’s regime to fall.

* YEP! THAT IS INDEED THE "OFFICIAL POLICY" OF THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION! (FOLKS...! YA CAN'T MAKE THIS SHIT UP...!!!)

Which raises a question: How many Syrians must we kill with missiles to teach Assad he cannot kill any more Syrians with gas?

(Artillery, fine. Just no gas.)

* FOLKS... IT'S FUNNY... BUT IT'S NOT FUNNY. THE FRIGGIN' KEYSTONE COPS ARE RUNNING THE ASYLUM!

How many Syrians must we kill to restore the credibility of our befuddled president who now says he did not draw that “red line” on chemical weapons; the world did when it outlawed such weapons. (Yet this statement may offer Obama a way out of a crisis of his own making without his starting a war to save face.)

Iran and Russia agree chemical weapons were used. Vladimir Putin has said Russia will back military action against those who did it. The Russians have put out a 100-page document tracing the March use of chemical weapons to the rebels. The Turks reportedly intercepted small amounts of sarin going to the rebels. We claim solid proof that Assad’s regime authorized and used chemical weapons. Why not tell the Russians to meet us in the Security Council where we will prove our “slam-dunk” case.

* REALLY... GOOD... QUESTION...

If we can, and do, we will have far greater support for collective sanctions or action than we do now. And if we prove our case and the U.N. does nothing, we will have learned something about the international community worth learning.

But the idea of launching missiles based on evidence we will not reveal about Syria’s use of chemical weapons, strikes that will advance the cause of the al-Qaida terrorists who killed 3,000 of us and are anxious to kill more, would be an act of such paralyzing stupidity one cannot believe that even this crowd would consciously commit it.

http://www.aei-ideas.org/2013/09/lets-face-it-the-us-job-market-is-dead-in-the-water/

How do you know the August jobs report was pretty bad? When the best thing you can say is that it might have met Wall Street expectations if not for a temporary shutdown in the port industry last month!

1. This was the jobs report that was supposed to reflect an economy kicking into higher gear. Goldman Sachs, for instance, was looking for 200,000 net new jobs. And whisper estimates were even higher. Instead, the economy added just 169,000 jobs vs. the 180,000 consensus forecast.

2. What’s more, June and July were revised down by 74,000 jobs, putting the three-month average at a paltry 148,000.

3. Even at 169,000 jobs a month, it would take an unbelievable 9 years and 10 months to return to pre-Great Recession employment levels, according to Brookings. See you in 2023 — assuming no recessions between now and then.

(*SMIRK*)

4. Sure, the unemployment rate fell to 7.3%. But that’s only because the labor force participation rate fell to a 35-year low. If it were still at January 2009 levels, the unemployment rate would be 10.8%. As RDQ Economics cautions, “This continued fall in participation should give pause to those who argue that the decline is cyclical and will be reversed.” In other words, the U.S. faces a permanently larger pool of jobless Americans.

* OBAMA'S ECONOMIC POLICES HAVE LITERALLY BROKEN THE AMERICAN ECONOMY.

* YEP... YOU CAN THROW BUSH IN THERE TWO... THE BAILOUTS OF HIS LAST TWO YEARS; BUT RECALL... NOT ONLY DID BUSH HAVE A DEMOCRAT CONGRESS THROUGHOUT HIS LAST TWO YEARS IN OFFICE, BUT THIS SAME DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS WAS CHEERING ON THE BAILOUTS I JUST CURSED BUSH FOR PURSUING!

5. The employment rate — the share of the non-incarcerated, non-military working-age population with any job — also fell and remains dead, dead in the water. One reason for that, notes the Economic Policy Institute is “our 3.8 million “missing workers … workers who have dropped out of, or never entered, the labor force due to weak job opportunities in the Great Recession and its aftermath.” If they were in the labor force looking for work, the unemployment rate would be 9.5% instead of 7.3%.

6. Recall that according to the Obama White House’s 2009 stimulus forecast, August 2013 should have been the 2nd straight month at 5% unemployment:

7. The median unemployment duration actually increased to 16.4 weeks from 15.7 weeks in July, while the share of the unemployed without work for 27 weeks and longer jumped to 37.9% from 37.0%. There are 3 million more long-term unemployed today — four years after the end of the recession — than before the recession.

* ONE... MORE... TIME:

There are 3 million more long-term unemployed today — four years after the end of the recession — than before the recession.

8. Worst of all, this jobs report could be a signal that the U.S. economy is not about to accelerate as many are forecasting.

Bottom line: Yes, the economy is growing, but not at a rate generating very many jobs, either full-time or part-time. The jobs recovery seems to have stalled. It’s not getting better.
