Bob Woodward isn't the only person who's received threats for airing the Obama administration's dirty laundry. It seems anyone is a potential target of the White House these days - even former senior members of the Clinton administration.

A day after Woodward's claim that a senior White House official had told him he would "regret" writing a column criticizing President Obama's stance on the sequester, Lanny Davis, a longtime close advisor to President Bill Clinton, told WMAL's Mornings on the Mall Thursday he had received similar threats for newspaper columns he had written about Obama in the Washington Times.

Davis told WMAL that his editor, John Solomon, "received a phone call from a senior Obama White House official who didn't like some of my columns, even though I'm a supporter of Obama. I couldn't imagine why this call was made." Davis says the Obama aide told Solomon, "that if he continued to run my columns, he would lose, or his reporters would lose their White House credentials."

* NICE...

* BUT, FOLKS... (*SIGH*)... WHAT'S IT MATTER...??? OBAMA's BEEN RE-ELECTED.

(*SHRUG*)

The sequester replacement bill proposed by Senate Democrats, and endorsed by the White House, would add $7.2 billion to the federal deficit over ten years, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO).

* IS THERE ANYTHING MORE TO BE SAID, FOLKS?

The Senate will vote Thursday on the Democratic plan, as well as a Republican bill that would essentially keep the sequester in place, but give the Obama administration greater flexibility to administer the cuts. Both are expected to fail.

* LET'S HOPE SO! (BUT THINK ABOUT IT... EVEN WHEN THE RINOs GO SO FAR AS TO SUGGEST GIVING OBAMA MORE UNILATERAL POWER WITHIN THE SEQUESTER OBAMA's ALLIES IN THE DEMOCRAT-CONTROLLED SENATE WON'T GO FOR IT. WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT THE DEMOCRATS, FOLKS?)

UPDATE: As expected, both bills fell short of the 60 votes required for passage...

* FIRST... READ THIS: http://blog.heritage.org/2013/02/14/vawa-violates-the-constitution/

* NOW... http://www.redstate.com/2013/02/28/gop-house-passes-unconstitutional-democrat-vawa-bill/

Earlier today, the [RINO]-controlled House passed the Senate version of the unconstitutional Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

The Senate bill expands “coverage” to illegal aliens, men, homosexuals, transgendered individuals and prisoners. It also expands the law’s reach to give tribal Indian authorities jurisdiction over non-Indians accused of abusing Indian women.

The final bill passed with the support of 87 Republicans.

* 87 RINOs.

Before voting on this bill, the House considered a substitute amendment that removed some of the new anomalies. It was defeated by a coalition of Democrats and 60 Republicans.

(*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD*)

We’d like to thank the following members who understood that the entire premise of the bill is flawed, superfluous, and an unconstitutional federal power grab:

Bridenstine, Jim; Broun, Paul; Cotton, Tom; Culberson, John; DeSantis, Ron; Duncan, Jeff; Duncan, John; Fincher, Stephen; Garrett, Scott; Gohmert, Louie; Gosar, Paul; Hastings, Doc; Huelskamp, Tim; Jones, Walter; Lamborn, Doug; McClintock, Tom; Meadows, Mark; Mullin, Markwayne; Noem, Kristi; Olson, Pete; Petri, Thomas; Pompeo, Mike; Radal, Trey; Schweikert, David; Sensenbrenner, James; Stockman, Steve; Yoho, Ted.

The only thing the federal government can do to protect women is to pass a universal right to carry bill. Everything else is just big government demagoguery. There is no reason a GOP-controlled House should have brought this bill before the body, much less the Senate passed version.

If they are concerned about the political optics, they should have just ignored it and changed the subject to… let’s say gas and food prices.

Now that is a novel idea. Giving the Democrats two full days to bludgeon you with gender warfare during debate time is evidently more politically prudent than repealing the ethanol mandate or some other useful legislation.

What is the purpose of a GOP-controlled House anyway?

If we’ve come to the point where Republicans believe that dealing with domestic violence is within the purview of the federal government, we should just stick a fork in the party.

* PASS THE KNIFE WHILE YOU'RE AT IT!

Yet, not only do Republicans in the House plan to reauthorize the wasteful and politically-motivated Violence Against Women Act, they plan to pass the Senate version (S.47), which contains egregious anomalies.

* YEP. THAT'S WHAT THEY DID! (THIS ARTICLE RAN THE OTHER DAY...)

The Senate bill expands “coverage” to men, homosexuals, transgendered individuals and prisoners. It expands the definition of domestic violence to include causing “emotional distress” or using “unpleasant speech.” It ostensibly nullifies the legal presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

(*CLAP...CLAP...CLAP*)

The bill also expands the law’s reach to give tribal Indian authorities jurisdiction over non-Indians accused of abusing Indian women.

* THE HERITAGE EXPOSE I INCLUDED IN THE PREVIOUS NEWSBITE POSTING EXPLAINS HOW AND WHY THIS IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL...

Finally, what good is a social engineering bill without tossing in bones to the most sacrosanct constituency, illegal immigrants? It would grant more visas to illegal immigrants who are victims of domestic abuse.

(*SIGH*)

Last year, the House passed a version that was, more or less, a clean reauthorization. That was the best we could expect from them. But now, in the hopes of not being outbid in gender warfare, they plan to bring the bill to the floor in a way that will ensure the Senate bill passes.

* WHICH (AGAIN) IT DID.

Yesterday, we spoke about the lack of leadership in the Senate to block bad legislation from coming to a final vote. This is a classic example of how the Republican minority in the Senate empowers Harry Reid to jam the House and pressure an already flaccid House leadership to acquiesce to abhorrent pieces of legislation. Several weeks ago, half the GOP conference voted for the juiced up version of VAWA. Now the House has decided to throw in the towel.

Folks, we live in dark times.

The Democrats are more radical (and successful) than they’ve ever been, yet there is virtually no opposition to anything they do. All they have to do is insert the word “women” into the title of a bill, and they win the battle without firing a shot. The sad irony is that this comes at a time when the radicals are promoting women to serve in direct ground combat, an absurdity that has already and will continue to promote real violence against women – both at war and at home.
