The Daily Caller has obtained a scrapped sketch critical of President Barack Obama that was intended for airing at the opening of last night’s “Saturday Night Live” on NBC.

In the skit, President Obama addresses Americans soon after the first anniversary of the killing of Osama bin Laden — and he makes sure to remind viewers that all credit for the raid on the terrorist leader’s compound belongs to him.

* THE SCRIPT IS ATTACHED TO THE STORY. PRETTY FUNNY! WORTH READING!

It is not clear why the skit was scrapped.

Instead of the skit, NBC opted instead to air a parody of Fox News Channel’s “Fox and Friends.”

The heads of the Senate and House intelligence committees said Sunday the Taliban was gaining ground, just days after President Barack Obama made a surprise trip to Afghanistan and touted the progress made in the war on terror.

“I think we'd both say that what we found is that the Taliban is stronger,” said Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein on CNN’s “State of the Union,” while sitting with Republican Rep. Mike Rogers of Michigan.

(*SARCASTIC CLAP-CLAP-CLAP*)

Discussing her recent trip to Afghanistan, Feinstein pointed to increased attacks and the geographical spread of the Taliban’s influence. She also highlighted madrassas in Pakistan that “are fueling a new generation of fighters.”

“[Afghan President Hamid] Karzai believes that the Taliban will not come back. I'm not so sure. The Taliban has a shadow system of governors in many provinces. They've gone up north. They've gone to the east. Attacks are up,” she told CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley.

* UMM... YEAH...!!! (JEEZUS... WHEN EVEN DIANE FRIGGIN' FEINSTEIN IS ABLE TO ACKNOWLEDGE REALITY YOU KNOW OBAMA AND MADAM HILLARY HAVE SCREWED UP!)

Bake sales, the calorie-laden standby cash-strapped classrooms, PTAs and booster clubs rely on, will be outlawed from [Massachusetts] public schools as of Aug. 1 as part of new no-nonsense nutrition standards, forcing fundraisers back to the blackboard to cook up alternative ways to raise money for kids.

* THEY'RE FRIGGIN' KIDDING... (*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD*)

* FOLKS... SERIOUSLY... IS THIS THE AMERICA WE WANT?

At a minimum, the nosh clampdown targets so-called “competitive” foods — those sold or served during the school day in hallways, cafeterias, stores and vending machines outside the regular lunch program, including bake sales, holiday parties and treats dished out to reward academic achievement. But state officials are pushing schools to expand the ban 24/7 to include evening, weekend and community events such as banquets, door-to-door candy sales and football games.

* MADNESS... AN OUT OF CONTROL BUREAUCRATIC MINDSET...

http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2012/05/06/why-can-t-obama-bring-wall-street-to-justice.html

Despite his populist posturing, the president has failed to pin a single top finance exec on criminal charges since the economic collapse.

* JON CORZINE IS STILL AN OBAMA BUNDLER FOR CHRIST'S SAKE...!!!

[F]inancial-fraud prosecutions by the Department of Justice are at 20-year lows...

To the dismay of many of Obama's supporters, nearly four years after the [2008 financial meltdown], there has not been a single criminal charge filed by the federal government against any top executive of the elite financial institutions.

(Candidate Obama had been their guy, accepting vast amounts of Wall Street campaign money for his victories over Hillary Clinton and John McCain. Goldman Sachs executives ponied up $1 million, more than any other private source of funding in 2008. Obama far outraised his Republican rival, John McCain, on Wall Street - around $16 million to $9 million.)

"There hasn't been any serious investigation of any of the large financial entities by the Justice Department, which includes the FBI," says William Black, an associate professor of economics and law at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, who, as a government regulator in the 1980s, helped clean up the S&L mess.

[Candidate] Obama delivered heated rhetoric, but his actions [upon becoming President] signaled different priorities. [As Attorney General] he chose Eric Holder, a former Clinton Justice official who, after a career in government, joined the Washington office of Covington & Burling, a top-tier law firm with an elite white-collar defense unit.

(The move to Covington, and back to Justice, is an example of Washington's revolving-door ritual, which, for Holder, has been lucrative - he pulled in $2.1 million as a Covington partner in 2008, and $2.5 million - including deferred compensation - when he left the firm in 2009.)

Putting a Covington partner...in charge of Justice may have sent a signal to the financial community, whose marquee names are Covington clients. Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Deutsche Bank are among the institutions that pay for Covington's legal advice, some of it relating to matters before the Department of Justice. But Holder's was not the only face at Justice familiar to Covington clients. Lanny Breuer, who had co-chaired the white-collar defense unit at Covington with Holder, was chosen to head the criminal division at Obama's Justice. Two other Covington lawyers followed Holder into top positions, and Holder's principal deputy, James Cole, was recruited from Bryan Cave LLP, another white-shoe firm with A-list finance clients.

* BUT THE DEMS ARE THE PARTY OF THE "LITTLE PEOPLE," RIGHT? (*SMIRK*)

* FOLKS... THIS IS A THREE PAGE INVESTIGATIVE PIECE. I URGE YOU TO READ IT.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/may/6/defense-budget-casualties-light-on-civilian-side/

The Pentagon’s civilian workforce, which expanded dramatically during President Obama’s first three years, is not facing any significant reductions even as the Defense Department is slashing ground troops by more than 10%, retiring ships and combat planes, and putting off the purchases of some new weapons.

(*JUST THROWING MY HANDS UP IN THE AIR*)

In the summer of 2010, then-Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates announced a series of cost-saving initiatives that included keeping civilian employees to that year’s number of 778,000. The services started issuing press releases on the number of civilian jobs they had erased.

Two years later, civilian employment has risen by 23,000 personnel - [to] 801,000.

At about the same time as the Gates downsizing push, the Defense Business Board, a Pentagon advisory panel to the defense secretary, issued a report calling for a 15% decrease in civilian employees.

“That has not happened,” said Arnold Punaro, who led the task force.

Mr. Punaro, a retired Marine Corps Reserve major general who headed the Senate Armed Services Committee’s Democratic staff, said the defense budget is suffering through rapid increases in personnel overhead costs at the expense of troops.

“While the fighting force is coming down, the overhead continues to grow,” he said. “It was an adverse ratio to start with, and it’s getting worse. You want to put your money in the tip of the spear, not in the rear with the gear.”
