The two young women were sitting at a window table inside the Max Brenner restaurant on 15th Street, near Walnut, sharing chocolate fondue after some shopping.

The streets were vibrant. The weather was nice. "The city had a good vibe," remembered one of the women, Maria, who requested her full name not be printed.

But their night on the town was about to become frightening.

* WELL... IT IS PHILADELPHIA. CHECK OUT WHO RUNS (INTO THE GROUND) THE CITY.

Heading their way was a pack of teens roving through Center City after leaving a North Philadelphia music festival.

They were part of about 100 or more young people...

* WHY DO I SUSPECT THE REPORTER MEANS 100 OR MORE BLACK "YOUTH"... OR PERHAPS A MIXED DEMOGRAPHIC OF "MINORITY YOUTH?"

...who had left Saturday night's event, police said, committing a series of violent assaults and robberies, including one against Maria, 25, of North Philadelphia, and her cousin Cecilia, 29, of Havertown.

* FOLKS. YOU'VE GOTTA ARM YOURSELVES. YOU'VE GOTTA GET TRAINING. AND YOU'VE GOTTA BE PREPARED TO DEFEND YOURSELVES AND OTHER INNOCENT PEOPLE SHOULD THE NEED ARISE.

He had gone to the Susquehanna Community Festival, along Susquehanna Avenue near Broad Street, with his older brother, Aleek...

Hamilton is now in jail, charged with robbing Cecilia.

(*PURSED LIPS*)

Erica Rockymore, 18, of North Philadelphia, was also among the teens, police said. Last week, she graduated from the Philadelphia Electrical and Technology Charter High School, her family said. Her 14-year-old sister asked her to take her to the festival. Rockymore is in jail, too, charged with assaulting Maria.

Police are still investigating two other attacks by teens leaving the festival, including one that left a woman hospitalized with a broken leg.

* FOLKS... WE'RE LOSING OUR COUNTRY AND IN THE BLUE STATES ESPECIALLY THE AUTHORITIES ARE MORE CONCERNED WITH PROTECTING THE "RIGHTS" OF THE CRIMINALS THAN THE SAFETY OF LAW ABIDING PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS.

A few blocks from the White House, what the State Department defines as a modern form of slavery is taking place every night in the form of sex trafficking.

“If President Obama had walked out his front door at two or three in the morning, he would go two blocks away, and he would see traffickers forcing girls and women out into the streets, every night, right here in the United States,” said Tina Frundt, a former sex slave who founded Courtney’s House, a non-profit organization that helps girls who have been victims of human or sex trafficking.

A CNN series - called The Freedom Project - recently highlighted the trafficking network, a multi-million dollar business thriving on women and children, most of whom are immigrants.

* ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS...? (MY POINT IS ABOUT POROUS BORDERS, NOT DISPARAGING THE EXPLOITED. IT IS POROUS BORDERS WHICH ALLOW THIS EXPLOITATION.)

[W]hile the United States leads the way on genuinely working to eliminate these kinds of networks, many other countries stand silent or complicit. Many corrupt governments that retain good standing in the United Nations do little to combat human trafficking, a violation of natural rights against humanity.

Recently, the United Nations created the Trafficking Victims Protection Act to track and prevent human and sex trafficking worldwide. However, a UN initiative rarely translates into action or accountability, as demonstrated by China’s membership on the hapless Human Rights Council (HRC).

(Recently, China wouldn’t even allow human rights activist and intellectual Liu Xiaobo out of prison to accept his Nobel Peace Prize, and the UN stood silent.)

[I]n March 2011, the HRC released its Universal Periodic Review on Libya, and made 66 recommendations for the Qadhafi regime to improve its record. In contrast, the council offered the United States 228 recommendations. So in their eyes, the US has further to go on human rights than Libya.

* BUT REALLY, FOLKS... IT'S NOT FUNNY. WE'RE FINANCING A QUARTER OF THE UN BUDGET AND HAVE SINCE THERE'S BEEN A UN. ISN'T IT LONG PAST TIME THAT WE RETHINK WHAT WE'RE DOING...?

As Heritage expert Brett Schaefer explains, "The Council has proven to be a weak body easily manipulated by repressive regimes to provide a patina of international legitimacy on their abuses. The Bush administration was right to shun the Council and the Obama administration has made precious little progress in improving the HRC since overturning that decision and joining its ranks."

* IF WE LABEL GEORGE W. BUSH AS A MORON... THEN SURELY WE MUST LABEL BARAK HUSSEIN OBAMA AS THE UBER-MORON!

* SERIOUSLY, FOLKS... ALMOST EVERY ACTION THIS UBER-MORON TAKES IS WRONG.

The UN is rife with countries touting the rights they claim to uphold but a closer look reveals that they barely meet the basic standards for protecting fundamental liberties.

The world body masquerades as a positive entity defending the rights to life and liberty but endless examples prove they are spin doctors for corruption.

In the latest sign of US-Pakistan tensions, Chaudhary Ahmed Mukhtar, defence minister, said on Wednesday that Islamabad had ended U.S. operations at the Shamsi airbase in Baluchistan, a base that has launched strikes against Taliban and al-Qaeda militants on its border with Afghanistan.

“No US flights are taking place from Shamsi any longer. If there have to be flights from this base, it will only be Pakistani flights,” Mr Mukhtar told the Financial Times. “We have ended all US flights from the base.”

Separately, a senior Pakistani government official said the US had been told to remove infrastructure from the airbase. “The US has been told to remove all of its belongings [from Shamsi],” the official said.

The White House, which refuses officially to acknowledge that it carries out drone strikes in Pakistan, declined to comment.
