* FIRST... THE HEADLINE:

Sarah Palin email frenzy backfires on her media antagonists

(*SMILING SHRUG*)

The trove of more than 13,000 emails detailing almost every aspect of Sarah Palin’s governorship of Alaska, released late on Friday, paints a picture of her as an idealistic, conscientious, humorous and humane woman slightly bemused by the world of politics. ... Mrs. Palin [actually] seems likely to emerge from the scrutiny of the 24,000 pages, contained in six boxes and weighing 275 pounds, with her reputation considerably enhanced. As a blogger at Powerline noted, the whole saga might come to be viewed as “an embarrassment for legacy media”.

* EXAMPLE:

[T]he emails reveal...the then Alaska governor fretted about things like there being alcohol in her official residence, that might be a temptation to the teenage friends of her children. In May 2007, she sought help from her staff in keeping the alcohol in the governor’s mansion away from young people, stating that it should be boxed up and “removed from the People’s House” - both for practical reasons and as a statement about her administration. “Here’s my thinking: with so many kids and teens coming and going in that house, esp during this season of celebrations for young people - proms, graduations, etc, I want to send the msg that we can be - and ‘the People’s House’ needs to be - alcohol-free. There’s a lot of booze there - its too accessible and may be too tempting to any number of all those teens coming and going.”

* WOW... WHAT A "HORRIBLE" WOMAN. (*SMIRK*)

* SERIOUSLY, FOLKS... THAT'S WHAT I'D CALL DETAIL ORIENTED! IF ONLY WEINER HAD BEEN SO DETAIL ORIENTED AND ASKED HIS STAFF TO REMOVE ALL CAMERAS FROM... er... ANYWHERE HE HAD ACCESS TO ONE! (*GUFFAW*)

In a February 2007 exchange, one adviser recommended that when she was in Washington she meet Pete Rouse, a Senate official who had lived in Alaska. “He’s now chief-of-staff for a guy named Barack Obama,” the aide wrote, adding that Mr Rouse “wants to help Alaska however he can”. Far from shrinking at the idea of conferring with a Democrat, Mrs Palin replied: “I’m game to meet him.”

(*APPROVING NOD*)

Communications from her children and husband make her family appear close and loving. An email from Bristol, referring to her younger sister, said: “Hello Mother, Um, I’m sitting in library and I really thing you need to get Piper a cell phone!! Wouldn’t that be so adorable! She could text me while she was in class!! It’s a done deal right?! Perfect! Ok, I will talk to you later and I need some cash flow! Love ya!” [T]he emails remind Americans of the person they saw take the stage at the Republican National Convention in Minnesota nearly three years ago - refreshing, plain-speaking, open...

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/13/us/politics/13donor.html?_r=1&ref=politics

Last month, President Obama’s campaign manager, Jim Messina, traveled to New York for back-to-back meetings with Wall Street donors, ending at the home of Marc Lasry, a prominent hedge fund manager, to court donors close to Mr. Obama’s onetime rival, Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Mr. Obama will return to New York this month to dine with bankers, hedge fund executives and private equity investors at the Upper East Side restaurant Daniel.

(*SARCASTIC CLAP-CLAP-CLAP*)

(One Democratic financier invited to this month’s dinner, who asked for anonymity because he did not want to anger the White House, said it was ironic that the same president who once criticized bankers as “fat cats” would now invite them to dine at Daniel, where the six-course tasting menu runs to $195 a person. The donor declined the invitation.)

(*CHUCKLE*)

Executives at large investment banks, a group that gave generously to Mr. Obama in his last campaign...

* YEAH. WE KNOW. AT LEAST... (*PAUSE*)... SOME OF US KNOW.

...are remaining on the sidelines for now. Only a small handful of such donors have appeared in Mr. Obama’s joint campaign filings with the Democratic National Committee, though officials there said more would appear in the coming weeks.

* FUNNY HOW THE TIMES DOESN'T MENTION HOW MUCH THIS "SMALL HANDFUL" OF MULTI-MILLIONAIRES AND BILLIONAIRES HAVE DONATED. (*SMIRK*) (*SNORT*)

Some traditional heavy hitters in Democratic Wall Street fund-raising have stepped out of the game. They include Maureen White and her husband, Steven L. Rattner, a founder of the Quadrangle Group, whose Fifth Avenue living room was a critical conduit between Wall Street and Democratic candidates in the years before Mr. Rattner joined the Obama administration to help restructure the auto industry. The couple did not resume their old role after Mr. Rattner left government, and he was caught up last year in an investigation into kickbacks to New York’s state pension fund.

* READ THAT AGAIN, FOLKS. (*WAITING*)

* O.K. SO IN OTHER WORDS... AND CORRECT ME IF I'VE MISSED SOMETHING... THE REASON THIS FORMER DEM "HEAVY HITTER" IS NO LONGER "IN THE GAME" IS BECAUSE AS A DEM HEAVY HITTER HE WAS LINING HIS POCKETS WITH ILLEGAL KICKBACKS?! (ALLEGEDLY OF COURSE...) (*SMIRK*) (*ROLLING MY EYES*)

Mr. Obama’s campaign has deployed a corps of loyal Wall Street supporters who have fanned out to defend the president’s record and stoke fatigued donors. They include Robert Wolf, the chief executive of UBS Group Americas; the hedge fund managers Orin S. Kramer and Eric Mindich; and Mark T. Gallogly, a co-founder of Centerbridge Partners.

* FOLKS... READ THE FULL ARTICLE. THERE'S INFO ON ROMNEY'S WALL STREET FUNDRAISING AS WELL. THE THING IS... IT'S THE DEMS WHO CLAIM TO BE "THE PARTY OF THE PEOPLE," WHO ATTACK WALL STREET "FAT CATS" AND THEN ASK THESE SAME FAT CATS FOR MONEY.

http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/world/51992858-68/agents-fbi-search-bureau.html.csp

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is giving significant new powers to its roughly 14,000 agents - allowing them more leeway to search databases, go through household trash or use surveillance teams to scrutinize the lives of people who have attracted their attention.

* THAT'S... er... ERIC HOLDER'S FBI - RIGHT?

* THAT'S... er... BARAK HUSSEIN OBAMA'S FBI - RIGHT?

(*SCRATCHING MY HEAD*)

* SORRY TO SLOW THE REPORTING DOWN... BUT... er... I JUST WANNA MAKE SURE... (*PAUSE*)... WE'RE NO LONGER TALKING PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH... JOHN ASHCROFT... ALBERTO GONZALES...???

* FOLKS... THE PATRIOT ACT WAS JUST RENEWED! THIS LATEST OBAMA ADMINISTRATION ACTION IS BRAND NEW!

Michael German, a former FBI agent who is now a lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union, argued it was unwise to further ease restrictions on agents’ power to use potentially intrusive techniques, especially if they lacked a firm reason to suspect someone of wrongdoing.

* WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO... er... WARRANTS...?

Some of the most notable changes apply to the lowest category of investigations, called an "assessment." The category, created in December 2008, allows agents to look into people and organizations "proactively" and without firm evidence for suspecting criminal or terrorist activity.

* NOW REMIND ME... (*PAUSE*)... WHEN EXACTLY WAS THE 4TH AMENDMENT TO THE U.S. CONSTITUTION REPEALED?

(*SHAKING MY HEAD*)

Under current rules, agents must open such an inquiry before they can search for information about a person in a commercial or law enforcement database.

* O.K.

Under the new rules, agents will be allowed to search such databases without making a record about their decision.

* WHAT...?!?!

* FOLKS... SERIOUSLY... RE-READ THAT A FEW TIMES! WARRANTLESS SEARCHES WITHOUT RECORDS...??? WHAT IS HAPPENING TO OUR COUNTRY...?!?!

http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2011/06/12/police-11-arrested-after-starting-fight-inside-long-island-hospital/

Police say 11 people were arrested after a fight broke out inside a Long Island hospital.

* "PEOPLE," HUH?

The loud and disorderly crowd, said to be a group of men and women in their 20s, walked into Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow around midnight and tried to get into the emergency room, while threatening the hospital staff.

* HEY, FOLKS... HAVE YOU EVER HAD TO BE RUSHED TO AN EMERGENCY ROOM? HOW ABOUT ONE OF YOUR KIDS? A SPOUSE? A PARENT? A SIBLING? A LOVED ONE OF ANY SORT?

* FOLKS... IN MALLS... IN FAST FOOD JOINTS... IN DOWNTOWN AREAS OF OUR MAJOR CITIES... AND NOW IN HOSPITALS...

* SERIOUSLY, FOLKS, WHAT'S IT GONNA TAKE? DO YOU OR A LOVED ONE HAVE TO BE HURT OR EVEN KILLED BEFORE YOU DEMAND THAT THE AUTHORITIES PUT THE FEAR OF GOD INTO THESE ANIMALS...?

When [these animals] tried to get into the emergency room, the cops were called. As the 11 people were yelling, one of the suspects, Kadeen McDonald, refused to be handcuffed and began fighting with an officer. The officer’s hand was fractured.

* I ONLY WISH THE OFFICER HAD BLOWN "KADEEN'S" HEAD OFF.

* FOLKS... EVEN IF KADEEN ENDS UP GOING TO JAIL FOR AWHILE HE'LL BE OUT BEFORE WE KNOW IT. DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE A PERSON WHO WOULD ASSAULT A POLICE OFFICER WOULD HESITATE TO ASSAULT YOU?

New York currently has a moratorium on hydraulic fracturing.

(*SIGH*)

On June 6, the New York Assembly passed a bill that will ban all forms of hydraulic fracturing in the state until mid-2012.

(*GNASHING MY TEETH*)

Despite the myriad benefits of the low-cost hydrocarbons that are now being produced thanks to hydraulic fracturing, the media, environmental groups and politicians are hyping the possible dangers of the process...

(*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD*)

Although hydraulic fracturing has been used more than one million times in the U.S. over the past 60 years, environmental activists are hoping to ban the process or have it regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Opponents claim the process can harm groundwater even though drinking-water aquifers are separated by as much as two miles of impermeable rock from the shales that are being targeted by the fracturing process.

(*ROLLING MY EYES*) AND BY "REGULATING" WHAT THEY WANT IS FOR THE EPA TO ACT AS THEIR ALLY IN CURTAILING HYDRAULIC FRACTURING TO THE BARE MINIMUM - AND DAMN THE PRICE CONSUMERS WILL PAY AND DAMN THE NATIONAL SECURITY RAMIFICATIONS OF REMAINING DEPENDENT UPON FOREIGN ENERGY SOURCES!

The U.S. is on the verge of an industrial renaissance if - and it's a big if - policy makers don't foul it up by restricting the ability of drillers to use the technology that's making a renaissance possible: hydraulic fracturing. The shale drilling boom now underway in Texas, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and other states is already creating jobs, slashing natural-gas prices, and spurring billions of dollars of investment in new production capacity for critical commodities like steel and petrochemicals. Better yet, it's spurring a huge increase in domestic oil production, which has been falling steadily since the 1970s.

* EARTH TO OBAMA: ALL THIS IS GOOD...!!!

In March, Nucor, America's biggest steel producer, broke ground on a new $750 million direct-reduced-iron (DRI) plant in Louisiana. The plant's key commodity is low-cost natural gas, which will be superheated and then mixed with iron ore pellets and scrap in a furnace. The DRI process allows companies to produce about the same amount of steel with about a quarter of the capital they'd need to build a conventional integrated steel plant. And they can produce that steel with lower carbon-dioxide emissions because they are replacing metallurgical coal with methane.

Nucor may ultimately invest $3 billion in Louisiana on plants that could create as many as 1,000 permanent, high-paying jobs.

(*THUMBS UP*)

Meanwhile, U.S. Steel may soon build a DRI plant of its own.

(*ENTHUSIASTIC APPLAUSE*)

A vibrant industrial base requires cheap, abundant and reliable sources of energy. The shale revolution now underway is the best news for North American energy since the discovery of the East Texas Field in 1930. We can't afford to let fear of a proven technology stop the much-needed resurgence of American industry.

* AMEN! FOLKS... I URGE YOU TO UTILIZE THE LINK AND READ THE FULL PIECE.

When adding in all of the money owed to cover future liabilities in entitlement programs the US is actually in worse financial shape than Greece...

* YEP.

Much of the public focus is on the nation's public debt, which is $14.3 trillion. But that doesn't include money guaranteed for Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, which comes to close to $50 trillion, according to government figures. The [federal] government also is on the hook for other debts such as the programs related to the bailout of the financial system following the crisis of 2008 and 2009, government figures show.

Taken together, Pimco's Bill Gross puts the total at nearly $100 trillion ... "That's much more than Greece, that's much more than almost any other developed country. We've got a problem and we have to get after it quickly."

* OH... AND FOLKS... REMEMBER... WE'RE TALKING FEDERAL DEBT. WE'RE NOT EVEN CONSIDERING THE DEBTS/LIABILITIES OF THE 50 INDIVIDUAL STATES!

Pimco, based in Newport Beach, Calif., manages more than $1.2 trillion in assets and runs the largest bond fund in the world.

"We've always wondered who will buy Treasurys" after the Federal Reserve purchases the last of its $600 billion to end the second leg of its quantitative easing program later this month, Gross said. "It's certainly not Pimco and it's probably not the bond funds of the world."

"Why wouldn't an investor buy Canada with a better balance sheet or Australia with a better balance sheet with interest rates at 1% or 2% or 3% higher?" he said. "It simply doesn't make any sense."

* NOPE. NONE OF OBAMA'S POLICIES MAKE SENSE. (UNLESS OF COURSE... THE PLAN IS TO COLLAPSE THE SYSTEM.) (*SHRUG*)

http://www.whitehousedossier.com/2011/06/13/michelle-obama-hold-california-fundraisers/

It’s a common and questionable practice pursued by recent presidents, Republican and Democratic: Fly somewhere to raise money, throw in an official event, and have the taxpayers pick up the dime for some of the travel since a portion of the work is government business.

Now, it appears, the first lady is and will be and active participant in this seedy practice, at an extra cost to taxpayers.

* NO! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. CONGRESS NEEDS TO PUT A HALT TO THIS.

Mrs. Obama will be in California today and tomorrow, visiting Los Angeles, Pasadena, Oakland and San Francisco. She will hold two official “first lady” events and be the star attraction at [no fewer than] four fundraisers.

* FOLKS... THIS IS RIDICULOUS.

Whether she would have attended the official events if she wasn’t going to troll for money is anyone’s guess. But what seems likely is the cost of flying Michelle out to the West Coast so she can soak the legions of wealthy Californian Democrats for cash is being mitigated by having the official appearances on the schedule.

* PRESIDENTS SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO MIX POLITICAL TRAVEL IN WITH OFFICIAL TRIPS; AND FOR DAMN SURE FIRST LADIES SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO!

Mrs. Obama today will hold a fundraising luncheon in Pasadena and a dinner in Los Angeles. Tomorrow, cash will pass hands at a breakfast in Oakland and a lunch in San Francisco.
