U.S. Border Patrol agents recently arrested 13 illegal immigrants disguised as U.S. Marines and riding in a fake military van...

The illegal immigrants were clad in Marine uniforms when they were apprehended at the Campo Border Patrol Westbound I-8 checkpoint at 11 p.m. on March 14 near Pine Valley, Calif., border officials said. (Two U.S. citizens in the van also were arrested.)

After the suspicious white van was subjected to secondary inspection, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle and its front seat passenger were U.S. citizens who were attempting to smuggle 13 illegal immigrants into the United States. All of the vehicle's occupants wore U.S. Marine uniforms, reportedly emblazoned with the name "Perez."

The van used in the smuggling attempt, according to California's El Centro Border Intelligence Center, was a privately owned vehicle registered out of Yucca Valley, Calif., and was bearing stolen government plates that had been defaced. The center digit - 0 - was altered to read as an 8.

Further research through multiple government agencies determined that the plate belonged to a one-ton cargo van registered to the U.S. Marine Corps.

* FOLKS... YOU SHOULD READ THIS ARTICLE. (IT'S JUST TWO PAGES...)

As noted above, our current obligations total more than 900% of GDP.

The combined wealth of everyone in the United States who earns at least $1 million per year equals roughly 100% of GDP.

[Y]ou could confiscate - not just tax, confiscate - the entire wealth of every millionaire in the United States and still barely make a dent in the amount we will owe.

* AGAIN... THE ARTICLE OUTLINES EXACTLY WHERE THIS 900% OF GDP OBLIGATION COMES FROM.

http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnalysis/Article/566773/201103221628/Congress-1-Trillion-Secret-Stash.aspx

At the end of the first quarter of fiscal 2011, the federal government had over $1 trillion in unspent funds that could be used to reduce future deficits.

Ex-Rep. Ernest Istook, R-Okla., calls unobligated funds Congress' "piggy bank" because members use this cash to fund new projects. Using unobligated funds on new purposes isn't deemed new spending [because] the CBO calculates funds' budget impact when they are authorized. "That's one of the budgeting gimmicks that's employed late in a session when Congress and the White House are having difficulty reaching a budget agreement," said Istook, a House Appropriations member for 14 years.

The House and Senate Appropriations Committees have the lion's share of authority over such unobligated funds. (OMB estimates that $717 billion in unobligated funds will remain when fiscal 2011 ends Sept. 30.)

* OH... AND GET THIS:

Congress can also "borrow" funds from one area to shore up a shortfall in another area, with the "intention" of replacing the borrowed funds in a future year.

Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., recently introduced a bill to eliminate $45 billion in unobligated funds.

* THAT'S A START... BUT WE'RE TALKING SOMEWHERE BETWEEN $717 BILLION AND $1 TRILLION IN UNOBLIGATED FUNDS ACCORDING TO THIS ARTICLE.

A Missouri senator up for re-election is the latest administration crony to overlook or avoid paying all her taxes. Funny, they have no problem raising them on or collecting them from the rest of us.

* NOTED IN YESTERDAY'S NEWSBITES, BUT WORTH REITERATING...

As Politico has reported, Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., said Monday that she will sell her private plane and pay $287,273 in back Missouri property taxes that somehow slipped her mind while she was supporting ObamaCare and spending the rest of us into oblivion.

The property taxes are owed on a plane - a 2001 single-engine, turbo-prop Pilatius PC-12 valued at $2.2 million - had been registered in Delaware, where no taxes were imposed.

* FUNNY HOW THAT WORKS, HUH? HEY... I LIVE IN NEW YORK. GUESS WHERE MY CAR IS REGISTERED? HOW'BOUT THE REST OF YOU... ANY OF YOU HAVE CARS... BOATS... PLANES... REGISTERED IN DIFFERENT STATES FROM THE STATE YOU LIVE IN?

Then it was moved to Illinois, which imposes no personal property taxes on private aircraft.

(*SNORT*) MY, MY, MY... DEMS SURE DO SEEM TO LIKE HIDING THEIR PLANES - AND OFTEN THEMSELVES - IN ILLINOIS! (*CHUCKLE*)

As a senator, McCaskill has flown at least 89 flights chartered by Sunset Cove Associates LLC - a company incorporated in 2002 by her husband, St. Louis businessman Joe Shepard, according to records kept by the Missouri secretary of state's office.

(*SNORT*) (*CHUCKLE*)

The senator had used the plane she co-owns with her husband and other investors for political purposes, paying for the travel with taxpayer money from her Senate office, which she now calls a "mistake," for which she will reimburse the government nearly $89,000. Oops.

* FOLKS. IN ALL SERIOUSNESS... IN A MORE PERFECT WORLD... MCCASKILL AND HER HUSBAND WOULD BE PUT AGAINST A WALL AND SHOT.

* INVESTORS.COM PRESENTS A LESS... er... DRACONIAN SUGGESTION:

The power to tax is the power to destroy. It also is an opportunity for hypocrites to benefit at taxpayers' expense, an act that calls for removal from areas of control over the public purse.

If they can't run their own affairs cleanly and openly, they shouldn't run ours.

Failure is Obama’s strategy.

[F]ailure is Obama's plan.

After an unprecedented two-year spending spree, President Obama is not looking to change Washington’s bad habits anytime soon.

On March 2, President Barack Obama anointed Vice President Joe Biden as his lead negotiator on coming to an agreement with congressional conservatives on this year’s federal budget. Biden then spent half a day on Capitol Hill talking with Republicans before jetting off to Europe.

* TO REITERATE...

Failure is Obama’s strategy.

[F]ailure is Obama's plan.

The White House strategy is clear as day: Two words... government shutdown.

The plan goes like this: President Obama does nothing now and allows the existing continuing resolution to expire. The White House and its media allies then portray the resulting government shutdown as the end of Western civilization as we know it...

* AND IN RESPONSE TO A STEADY DRUMBEAT OF MISINFORMATION DRIVEN HOME BY THE MAINSTEAM NEWS AND ENTERTAINMENT MEDIA...

Americans’ faith in the Republican approach on “cutting programs to reduce the budget deficit and still maintaining needed federal programs” tanks.

(*SIGH*) AT LEAST... THAT'S OBAMA'S ANALYSIS.

President Obama then emerges as the centrist peacemaker balancing the spendthrift congressional Democrats with the mean-spirited congressional Republican spending-cutters. President Obama’s base then pretends they’re offended at some very minor cuts, centrist Republicans cut a deal, and the President’s popularity soars like it did after the December tax legislation. Conservatives then go into the deficit ceiling and 2012 budget debates as untrusted losers. That is the White House plan.

(*SIGH*) AND... GIVEN THE HAND OBAMA'S BEEN DEALT, WITH THE MEDIA FIRMLY ON HIS SIDE HIS BLUFF MAY INDEED WORK!

Conservatives can’t allow this to happen.

[Republicans] must make sure their constituents understand that President Obama and Senator Reid are not acting in good faith.

[Republicans must remind the American People that] this debate is occurring because the previous Congress failed to even try and pass a budget, one of their basic responsibilities!

The time for more continuing resolutions is over.

This is about much more than cutting $61 billion from this year’s budget.

If [Republicans] cannot trim a meager 2% now, what hope do we have of [their] tackling entitlements?

[Republicans] must make the tough decisions now because...President Obama won’t.

A former city child welfare worker and his supervisor were indicted on charges of criminally negligent homicide, the Brooklyn district attorney announced Wednesday, saying that their failures had contributed to the death of a 4-year-old Brooklyn girl, Marchella Pierce, who had been repeatedly beaten and tied to a bed and weighed just 18 pounds at the end of her life in September.

* YOUR GOVERNMENT IN ACTION, FOLKS. SOCIAL WORKERS... YOU KNOW... THE FOLKS WHO KNOW BEST...

An Administration for Children’s Services report in October on Marchella’s death said that its workers and an independent agency contracted to look after the family had "missed" or ignored signs that the girl’s mother, who had a history of drug use, was incapable of caring for her.

The report also expressed doubts that child welfare workers made visits to the home that they said they had made.

* HI! I'M FROM THE GOVERNMENT AND I'M HERE TO HELP YOU.

The district attorney, Charles J. Hynes, also said he was convening a special grand jury to investigate whether the city’s child welfare agency, the A.C.S., had followed through on its plan for reforms after the 2006 death of Nixzmary Brown, a 7-year-old Brooklyn girl who died from repeated beatings at the hands of her stepfather.

Damon Adams, the former A.C.S. caseworker assigned to Marchella’s case, and his supervisor, Chereece Bell, were each indicted on charges of criminally negligent homicide, official misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child. Mr. Adams also was charged with tampering with public records and falsifying records.

According to prosecutors, Marchella’s mother, Carlotta Brett-Pierce, tied Marchella to her bed, beat her with a belt and videocasette tape, deprived her of food and water, and force-fed her medication including Claritin and a generic form of Benadryl. Marchella died Sept. 2 of child abuse syndrome, along with acute drug poisoning, blunt impact injuries, malnutrition and dehydration, prosecutors said.

* DEAR GOD IN HEAVEN...

http://paul.house.gov/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1839:fed-and-inflation&catid=62:texas-straight-talk&Itemid=69

Inflation’s destructive effects have ruined societies from the Roman Empire to Weimar Germany to modern-day Zimbabwe.

The price of cotton is up more than 170% over the past year, oil is up over 40%, and many categories of food staples are seeing double-digit price growth. [F]ood, clothing, and gasoline will become increasingly expensive over the coming year. American families, many of whom already live paycheck to paycheck, increasingly will be forced by these rising prices into unwilling tradeoffs: purchasing ground beef rather than steak, drinking water rather than milk, and choosing canned vegetables over fresh in order to keep food on the table and pay the heating bill.

Frugality can be a good thing, but only when it is by choice and not forced upon the citizenry by the Fed's ruinous monetary policy.

(*NOD*)

While the Fed takes credit for the increase in the stock markets, it claims no responsibility for the increases in food and commodity prices.

(*SMIRK*) (*SNICKER*)

Chairman Bernanke and other members of the Federal Open Market Committee were convinced in mid-2008 that the economy would rebound and continue to grow through 2009, even though it was clear to many observers that we were in the midst of a severe economic crisis.

Greenspan was known for downplaying the importance of the growing housing bubble just as it was reaching its zenith.

* FOLKS... (*SIGH*)... WHAT DR. PAUL IS POINTING OUT HERE IS WHAT HE (AND I) HAVE BEEN SAYING ALL ALONG: BERNANKE AND HIS LITTLE BAND OF "EXPERTS" ARE DELIBERATELY DESTROYING THE DOLLAR AND THUS AMERICA'S ECONOMY.
