Today's Responsorial...

The debt of the U.S. government has increased by $2.678 trillion in the 2.5 years since House Speaker John Boehner (R.-Ohio) completed his first "deal" to put legislation increasing the debt limit through a Republican-controlled House of Representatives.

* DIE, BOEHNER, DIE...

On Aug. 2, 2011, President Barack Obama signed legislation, approved by the Boehner-led House, permitting the Treasury to increase the debt by $900 billion.

* DIE, BOEHNER, DIE...

Since then, the debt limit has been repeatedly suspended by legislation that needed to pass through the Republican-controlled House.

* DIE, BOEHNER, DIE...

Yesterday, the House once again passed legislation to suspend the debt limit — this time through March 15, 2015, which is after November’s mid-term congressional elections.

* DIE, BOEHNER, DIE...

This time, the House voted 221 to 201 (with 10 members not voting) to suspend the debt limit. The majority consisted of House Democrats plus 28 House Republicans - including Speaker John Boehner (R.-Ohio) and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R.-Va.).

* DIE, BOEHNER, DIE... DIE, CANTOR, DIE... DIE, BOEHNER-CANTOR ALLIES, DIE...

House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan (R.-Wis.) voted against suspending the debt limit.

* BECAUSE BOEHNER LET HIM! BECAUSE BOEHNER DIDN'T NEED HIS VOTE! BECAUSE BOEHNER AND RYAN BOTH FEEL THEY BENEFIT BY NOT TOTALLY DESTROYING EVERY LAST BIT OF RYAN "CRED" AS A TRUE FISCAL CONSERVATIVE! (WHICH HE'S NOT...!!!)

* DIE, BOEHNER, DIE! DIE, RYAN, DIE!

A bill cannot come to the House floor for a vote unless the majority leadership allows it.

* SO MUCH FOR "BOEHNER HAD NO CHOICE."

* FOLKS... BOEHNER HAS BEEN LYING TO YOU AND BACKSTABBING YOU SINCE HE TOOK THE GAVEL IN 2011!

* DIE, BOEHNER, DIE!

On Aug. 2, 2011, when the first debt increase allowed by the Boehner-led House was enacted...

* YEP! "ALLOWED" BY...

...the total debt of the federal government was $14,580,704,743,080.97, according to the U.S. Treasury. As of Feb. 10, 2014, the total debt was $17,258,793,918,103.22. That is an increase of $2,678,089,175,022.25 in the national debt in the two years and six months — or 2.5 years — that the nation has lived under debt limits moved through a Republican-controlled House of Representatives led by Speaker Boehner.

* DIE, BOEHNER, DIE... DIE, BOEHNER, DIE.. DIE, BOEHNER, DIE... DIE, BOEHNER, DIE...

So far, under Speaker Boehner’s debt-limit deals, the national debt has been increasing at a rate of $1,071,235,670,008.90 per year.

* DIE, BOEHNER, DIE... DIE, BOEHNER, DIE... DIE, BOEHNER, DIE... DIE, BOEHNER, DIE...

That works out to an average of approximately $9,315 in new federal debt per year for each of the approximately 115,006,000 households the Census Bureau estimates there are in the country.

 AMEN

A nice relaxing day...

BodyPump (9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.) followed by a shower and trips to the bread store (Freihoffer's outlet), ShopRite, and Walmart.

Late lunch.

A couple hours watching "Dexter."

Now some computer time while I wait for Mary to get home. Once she does I'll make us dinner and we'll eat, watch TV, and discuss - what else - the upcoming cataclysmic event... aka: tomorrow's snow.

Yep. Another "disaster." We're supposed to get between 5-15 inches of snow up here in lovely Orange County, New York.

Ya know what we used to call a storm that dumped 5-15 inches of snow on us when I was a kid? We called it... er... snow.

Well... it figures... after all, ya know what my dad and uncles used to call a "war?" World War Two! "The Big One!" "Dubya-Dubya-Two!" Hitler. Tojo. Pearl Harbor. The Battle of the Bulge. Nowadays... well... are we not in the midst of the...

(*DRUM ROLL*) (*CUE THE REVERB*)

..."War on Terror...?!"

(Hey... how's "The War on Drugs" going...???) (Nah... forget it... never mind...)

The "New" Amerika, folks... ain't it great?

Finally! The Senate Conservatives Fund Gets It's Ass Out of It's Head!

FIRE THE SPEAKER...!!!

House Speaker John Boehner must be replaced.

Republicans are giving up because they know that winning is impossible when their leaders are determined to lose.

These "leaders" have telegraphed weakness to the Democrats and sabotaged conservative efforts so many times that Republicans now have no leverage.

There's only one solution: House Speaker John Boehner must be replaced.

Conservatives helped Republicans win a majority in the House of Representatives, which made it possible for John Boehner to become Speaker.

* THE TEA PARTY HANDED THE GOP THE HOUSE WITH THE 2010 ELECTION. PERIOD.

Unfortunately, Boehner has chosen to ignore us and help President Obama enact his [Leftist] agenda.

* WORSE, BOEHNER - AND MCCONNELL OVER ON THE SENATE SIDE - HAVE DONE ALL IN THEIR POWER TO DISCREDIT AND UNDERCUT THE EFFORTS OF "TEA PARTY AMERICANS" TO REINSTATE THE CONSTITUTION AND THE RULE OF LAW WHILE RETURNING TO OUR TRADITIONAL AMERICAN IDEALS INCLUDING THE AMERICAN WORK ETHIC AND RESPONSIBLE FISCAL BEHAVIOR!

Instead of using Republican control of the House to stop bad legislation, Speaker Boehner has used it to increase spending, raise the debt limit, increase taxes, pass a bloated farm bill, and fund the implementation of ObamaCare.

* ALL TRUE, PEOPLE! EVERY WORD OF IT!

Instead of fighting for conservative principles, Speaker Boehner has completely surrendered to the Democrats.

* FRANKLY... I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED IF "THEY HAVE SOMETHING" ON BOEHNER AND HAVE BEEN USING IT TO BLACKMAIL HIM.

* IN ANY CASE, HOWEVER... "WHY" BOEHNER IS DOING WHAT HE'S BEEN DOING IS BESIDES THE POINT. THE MAN IS A VIPER IN OUR MIDST. HE MUST BE TOPPLED! HE... AND HIS LOYALISTS.

There are 232 Republicans in the House today and it requires 218 votes to be elected Speaker. If 15 Republicans refuse to vote for John Boehner at the beginning of the next Congress, he won't have the votes to be re-elected and Republicans will be forced to pick someone else for the job.

Several conservative groups including For America, Tea Party Patriots, and FreedomWorks have already called for Speaker Boehner to be replaced. Now it's time for us to join them.

* YOU'RE LATE! (BUT BETTER LATE THAN NEVER...)

Here's what we need you to do:

Sign our petition urging House Republicans to "Replace the Speaker." We need to show House Republicans that Americans expect more from them and want them to replace John Boehner.

The Speaker is elected by House Republicans and they're ultimately responsible for his actions, especially if they're unwilling to replace him after all he's done. We have created a list to track which House Republicans support the Speaker and which ones want to replace him. In the coming weeks, we will tell you which members need to receive the most phone calls.

* AND ANY MEMBER SUPPORTING BOEHNER... THAT MEMBER SHOULD BE PRIMARIED AND REPLACED BY A TRUE LIBERTARIAN-LEANING REPUBLICAN CONSERVATIVE CONSTITUTIONIST!

Republicans must know that conservatives expect them to make a change at the top and we're not going to give up on this until John Boehner is gone.

It's sad that it has come to this, but enough is enough.

* IT'S NOT SAD THAT IT'S COME TO THIS! WHAT'S SAD IS THAT IT TOOK THE SENATE CONSERVATIVES FUND THIS LONG TO GET THEIR HEADS OUT OF THEIR ASSES!

* NEXT... WE NEED THE SENATE CONSERVATIVES FUND TO DECLARE POLITICAL WAR AGAINST RINO MITCH MCCONNELL! FIRE THE SENATE MINORITY LEADER!

We will never stop the massive spending and debt that are destroying our country if the Republican Speaker of the House surrenders to the Democrats and stabs conservatives in the back.

* FOLKS... IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY READ TODAY'S NEWSBITE CONCERNING BOEHNER'S LATEST BETRAYAL... PLEASE DO SO!

My buddy Phil is a progressive Republican. (Or perhaps he's an Indpendent... or even a Democrat...)

My friend "He Whose Name Dare Not Be Mentioned" is...

(*SHRUG*)

My best friend Carl is a Tory... (I'm talking 1776 era Tory!)

My pal Reid is a libertarian-leaning constitutionist conservatives... like me.

Mary... the much beloved ODM that is... she sees what I see and sometimes beyond!

Oli... he's a Leftist. Same with my ol' pal Russel - a senior civil servant with FEMA.

(*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD*)

And then there are all the "regular" folks... friends, relatives, casual acquaintances... who get their "news" from their regional rags (daily newspaper), their local weekly, their Cable News Channel, the Network morning shows, Jon Stewart and Stephen Cobert, the late night comics, and popular entertainment cues.

(*SHRUG*)

From what I see, folks, this country is in deep shit. And... most Americans seem to be unaware of this - either unaware or unwilling to concede the reality.

If you haven't done so already, read today's newsbites. Just take the issue of the latest ObamaCare "postponements." Do any of you not see what I see...???

Is it really "fine and dandy" that each day America becomes more "Amerika?"

Do any of you not see that when the Rule of Law is "relaxed" that this brings all of us - and our children - one step closer to "Amerika?"

I weep for my country... and all too often... I feel disconnected even from my best friends.

What can I tell ya, folks... sometimes I just wake up, go on line, check out Drudge, and...

(*SIGH*)

...say, "Screw it."

Drudge sounds the alarm Glenn Beck sounds the alarm. Rush Limbaugh sounds the alarm.

Pat Buchanan... Mark Styne...

Thomas Sowell...

I can go on and on and on! Heck, you folks who read my newsbites and stand-alone pieces know whom I rely upon. Yep... newsbites are about news... breaking news... articles from the NYT, WP, FT... radio and television reportage via both domestic and foreign media.

(*SHRUG*)

But newsbites are also straight facts and analysis presented by pundits... editorialists... professors... philosophers - with my two cents worth added to theirs.

Anyway... let me get to work here! Newsbites can be found in the comments section.

Weekend Newsbites: Sat. & Sun., Feb. 8 & 9, 2014

So... I have a friend who disputes my contention that the America of our youth... the America of the 70's, 80', and even 90's... hasn't been "fundamentally transformed" over the past 13-plus years since 9/11/01.

I told him he's nuts. He told me I'm nuts.

(*SNORT*)

To those who agree with me... understand... he's the American mainstream - not me!

Always bear this in mind, folks... being right... being "usually right"... has nothing to do with actual reality.

Barack Hussein Obama was elected in 2008. That's reality. Indeed, given the circumstances, that was understandable reality!

Barack Hussein Obama re-elected in 2012...???

(*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD*)

Hillary Rodham Clinton still - on paper at least, according to the polling data - most likely to win the presidency in 2016... that's reality.

Understand, folks... and know your history; FDR was elected president in 1932 on a relatively conservative Democrat platform - criticizing Hoover for being a reckless spender! Once elected, FDR started making changes... fundamental changes... to the way America was run. Some of these changes were under the radar, others were right out in the open. In any case, after arguably failing to get us out of the depression... after arguably making things worse... FDR was re-elected in 1936. And then... re-elected in 1940... and then.... re-elected in 1944.

Do you know much about Woodrow Wilson, folks? If not... you should do some research. He was a terrible man. (Seriously... you folks should look into the life, times, and actions of Woodrow Wilson.)

My point? Simply this: Obama isn't the first president whose goal was to fundamentally transform America. Nor was he the first "anti-constitutionist" president. Heck... he certainly isn't the only "failed" president ("failed" according to any stats you wanna consider; "failed" according to measurable "negative effects" upon America rather than "positive effects") to win a second term.

(*SIGH*)

But Obama... he's locking things in - that's the difference.

President Obama blatantly ignores and often clearly violates the Constitution at will - right out in the open.

The size, scope, and power of government - and it's reach into the lives of ordinary Americans - is unprecedented... and growing.

The "Security State" that began under Bush has been put on a regiment of steroids by Obama.

I could go on and on... but I fear I'd only be preaching to the choir... or... speaking to deaf ears.

Anyway... keep on reading newsbites. Make your own analysis of the information and opinion I present.

As always... newsbites will be entered into the comments section!

Barker's Newsbites: Wednesday, February 5, 2014

A snowy morning here in Harriman! Mary just called; she made it to work. Last time I checked my bro-in-law Craig was on the Thruway taking my sis-in-law into the City for some medical tests... I have every confidence they'll make it back and forth safe and sound.

Again... folks... it's winter. In New York!

Yes, this snowstorm comes complete with icy rain. I'm not suggesting people go out and drive just for the heck of it. What I am saying, however, is that America is in decline and the way we handle (or rather fail to handle) WINTERS is definitely a symptom.

Think about it... in 1969 - 45 years ago - we landed a man on the moon. Today? We're dependent upon the Russians if we want to send an American into space.

Think about 1969. (If you're old enough, that is!) I was born in 1962 myself, but I don't recall my dad being deterred from going to work (or the bar for that matter) by a little snow! Sure... kids don't pay attention to the nuances of weather reporting so perhaps it's simply that I don't remember... however... "remember" or not, I'd bet that back in the 1960's U.S. air travel wasn't basically halted every time a storm popped up somewhere!

Hey... new topic! Did you folks read yesterday's newsbites? Do me a favor (do yourselves a favor) and make sure you read "The Liberal Newcomers", a column written by Phyllis Schlafly which first ran yesterday on the NRO Blog. (The column was one of my newsbites yesterday!)

On my way home from the gym last night I happened to catch former Wall Street Cokehead Larry Kudlow being interviewed by John Batchelor and both men were criticizing Schlafly's column. What caught my attention was Kudlow totally ignoring the data Schlafly presented! Unfriggin'believable...!!! God save the GOP from the RINOs current in charge of it!

Anyway... off to newsbiting! Enjoy - and learn from - the upcoming newsbites (as always, found in the Comments section) and enjoy your day!

Barker's Newsbites: Tuesday, February 4, 2014

O.K., folks... back to newsbiting!

I know... I know... I've been a bit lax lately.

(*GRIN + WINK*)

I pissed off the owners of my gym (again!) yesterday by daring to complain that cancelling group classes when it snows is... "bull." (Yeah... "bull.") The folks in charge actually had one of the trainers call me to threaten me! (The inference was that if I didn't shut up - didn't stop "complaining" on FaceBook - that they'd cancel my membership.)

My response...? Well... as I told the trainer... I was heavily involved in Republican politics here in Orange country for 20 years and I'm still on a first name basis with... lots of folks. No business wants to have to deal with "regulatory compliance" issues... surprise health and safety inspections... perhaps local police or even country sheriff patrol officers noting - and responding to - the unsafe parking lot conditions with cars parked haphazardly, not in proper spaces. Heck... as unfair as it is, a business even has to worry about building code inspectors finding violations that might have previously been overlooked!

Folks... what can I tell ya... it positively infuriates me that even private enterprise is wimplified to the extent that more and more private employers close or limit operations in the event of... snow... in February... in New York.

At one point the trainer told me that, quote, "it's not like they've closed the gym". No... it was just that they weren't going to require the trainers to come in to teach their classes. Well... that's like ShopRight saying "we're staying open but closing down the deli." It's ridiculous!

I don't ask anything of anyone I don't ask of myself! If I have a ride scheduled in a raging blizzard then off I go! Nor'Easter...? Been there, done that! Mary's car? SNOW TIRES! She'll get to work come hell or high water and I'll meet my professional responsibilities as well! All I'm asking of others is... the same.

Anyway... rant off.

(Hey... as predicted by moi... Seahawks uber alles! True... like everyone else I had predicted a close game - not the pathetic blow-out we witnessed - but I'll take the win as a win!)

Anyway... onward to newsbites! (Found within the Comments Page of this post!)

Will "The Terrorists" Blow Up the Meadowlands Today...?

Highly doubtful.

Far more likely is that the game will be delayed because more fans are still outside the stadium on security lines and caught up in traffic jams then have taken their seats within the stadium as kick-off time nears.

Hey... we'll see...

So... 100 different agencies - federal, state, county, local - all "working together" to ensure "public safety" at this year's Superbowl. Oh, yeah... based on what we know about "inter-agency cooperation" this should all go smoothly and cost-effectively!

(I would write "again, we'll see," but of course we won't. Whatever flubs occur that can be swept under the rug will be swept under the rug.)

I'm goin' for the Seahawks. (Hey! They have green in their uniforms!) My prediction... 22-19 Seahawks.

Unless there's some monumental last minute change, Mary and I will be watching the game from the comfort of our living room. Basically, we're too old and lazy and the game is too late for us to attend some else's house party. (Plus... all the good booze is here...)

Hey... I'm making a stromboli...!!! Picked up two pizza doughs yesterday and the various meats and cheeses. (It's gonna be a friggin' monster...!!!)

Last comment on the Super Bowl: Appoint me NFL Commissioner (at $29 million a year) and I'll move the game to SATURDAY... kick-off at 5:00 p.m. e.s.t. Yep... not only that, but I'll move the Pro-Bowl to Superbowl WEEKEND Sunday - with only non-Superbowl team players being eligible to play!

Think about it... a full WEEKEND of pro-football...

Think about it... the Pro-Bowl as a "real" game!

(Here I am, a guy sitting at his home PC in Harriman, NY; I can come up with this and the folks running professional football... can't.)

Well... that's it for now; perhaps more later this afternoon. (But in any case... enjoy the day, folks!)
