China has become one of the world’s largest two economies, and is wealthy enough to buy up at least $1.3 trillion of the U.S. debt...

But that hasn’t stopped Uncle Sam from continuing to send foreign aid to Beijing.

In 2014 the U.S. State Department and its USAID program provided nearly all of the $12.3 million in taxpayer-funded aid set aside for China. And another $6.8 million is on tap for Beijing this year, according to ForeignAssistance.gov.

* AND SOME WONDER WHY I WANT THESE PEOPLE DEAD...

In the big picture of things, China’s aid package — mostly centered around pollution and pro-democracy programs — is a mere drip from a foreign aid spigot that has been as great as $50 billion annually in recent years. But taxpayer watchdogs say it’s a classic example of the U.S. government not being able to reign in aid on projects whose effectiveness is immeasurable and could easily be funded by the country itself.

* NOT "THE U.S. GOVERNMENT." THOSE RUNNING IT! THE PEOPLE I MENTIONED!

"At the direction of Congress — and not included in the President’s [fiscal year] 2016 request — USAID currently provides assistance to China to address environmental conservation and strengthen rule of law,” the spokeswoman for USAID said, adding that those funds are directed to NGOs and U.S. educational institutions, not directly to the Chinese government.

North of Syria, along 500 miles of border, sits a Turkish army of half a million with 3,000 tanks that could cross over and annihilate ISIS in a month. But not only have the Turks not done so, for a time they looked the other way as jihadists crossed their border to join ISIS.

If the Islamic State, as Ankara’s inaction testifies, is not viewed as a threat to Turkey’s vital interests, how can it be a threat to ours?

* REASONABLE QUESTION...

There are reports that the Saudis and the Gulf Arabs would be more willing to participate in a war on ISIS if we would first effect the ouster of Bashar Assad.

* OH... ISN'T THAT "GENEROUS" OF THEM...

Everyone in the Middle East, it appears, wants the United States to fight their wars for them.

But as THEY look out for THEIR interests first, it is time we started looking out for ours first.

Foremost among those interests would be to avoid another $1 trillion war, with thousands of U.S. dead and tens of thousands of wounded, and a situation, after a decade of fighting, as exists today in Afghanistan and Iraq, where those we leave behind in power cannot hold their own against the enemies we defeated for them.

* YEP. THERE IS THAT.

That an Iraqi army we equipped and trained at a cost of tens of billions would disintegrate and desert Iraq’s second city, Mosul, when confronted by a few thousand fanatics, was a debacle.

* NOT TO THE WARMONGERS! NOT TO THE BIPARTISAN "WAR PARTY!" NOT TO THE IGNORANT FOOLS WHOSE IDEA OF PATRIOTISM IS TO SHOUT "USA! USA!" WHILE SENDING SOMEONE ELSE'S KID TO DO THE ACTUAL BLEEDING AND DYING.

Why should Americans have to recapture Mosul for Baghdad?

And why do these “democrats” we install in power seem to perform so poorly?

Under Saddam, Iraq fought an eight-year war against a nation three times as large and populous, Iran. Yet, Saddam’s army did not run away as the Iraqi army we trained and equipped ran away from Anbar.

What did Saddam Hussein have to motivate men that we do not?

What is it that makes some people in the Middle East volunteer and fight to the death, while others refuse to fight or run away from battle?

* HERE'S WHY:

Hateful as it is, ISIS has a vision.

The Islamic State has plugged into the most powerful currents of the Middle East. It is anti-American, anti-Zionist, anti-West, Islamic and militantly Islamist. It promises to overthrow the old order of Sykes-Picot, to tear up the artificial borders the West imposed on the Arabs, and to produce a new unity, a new dispensation where the Quran is law and Allah rules and all Sunnis are united in one home whence all infidels — Jews, Shia, Christians — have been driven out.

Hezbollah, Iran, Assad, the Houthi rebels, all Shiites, understand this.

They know they are in a fight to the death. And they fight.

But it is the Sunni Arabs, the royals on the Arabian Peninsula and the sheiks on the Gulf, to whom this should be a fire bell in the night. For ISIS is out to dethrone these perceived royal puppets of a detested America and to reclaim rightful custody of Mecca and Medina.

The Shiites are already in the field.

The Sunni are going to have to fight and win this war against ISIS, or lose it all.

The president’s request for the authorization to use military force against the Islamic State...

Tuesday evening, NBC announced Brian Williams would be suspended without pay for the next six months.

If they are to be consistent in their punishment, they should be suspending Al Sharpton for a much longer period.

After all Williams lies were expressed just to make him look macho; Sharpton's lies were much worse - he slandered others - and while some of his falsehoods may be 20-years-old, he has never recognized his "mistakes" nor apologized for the falsehoods.

Below are seven examples of Sharpton's lies, one for every day of the week:

Lie #1) Most remember the Tawana Brawly case; not only was Brawley's story a fraud, but it was Sharpton who at a March 1988 news conference blamed Dutchess County’s assistant district attorney Stephen Pagones for being one of Brawley's rapists. He also accused district attorney William Grady of trying to cover up Pagones’ involvement in the crime and demanded that then-Governor Mario Cuomo arrest the two “suspects.” Sharpton even told Spin magazine that Stephen Pagones had privately confessed to the crime! When asked for evidence of his claims, Sharpton and his cabal insisted they would reveal the facts "when the time was right." He never revealed that evidence because there never was any. To this day the NBC News "star" has never admitted or apologized for his lie.

Lie #2) Yosef Lifsh was the driver of the car that tragically struck Gavin Cato in Crown Heights in August 1991. Lifish was falsely accused by Al Sharpton falsely of driving drunk that night despite the fact Sharpton knew police tested Lifish's blood alcohol level and he was clean. Al Sharpton incited so much hate against Lifsh that he had to flee to Israel.

Lie #3) Sharpton says his only role in the Crown Heights riot was an attempt to make peace, but according to the sworn testimony of Efraim Lipkind, a Hasidic Jew and former resident of Crown Heights: “Then we had a famous man, Al Sharpton, who came down, and he said Tuesday night, kill the Jews, two times. I heard him, and he started to lead a charge across the street to Utica."

Lie #4) A false rumor began to spread that the Hasidic ambulance crew had ignored the dying black child in favor of treating the Jewish man, and that Gavin Cato died waiting for another ambulance. Actually the two ambulances were seconds apart and the police told the Hasidic ambulance to pick up an injured Jew. Despite the fact Sharpton knew the truth, he used the lie to incite the crowd at Gavin Cato's funeral. “The world will tell us he was killed by accident. Yes, it was a social accident. ... It's an accident to allow an apartheid ambulance service in the middle of Crown Heights. ... Talk about how Oppenheimer in South Africa sends diamonds straight to Tel Aviv and deals with the diamond merchants right here in Crown Heights. The issue is not anti-Semitism; the issue is apartheid. ... All we want to say is what Jesus said - 'If you offend one of these little ones, you've got to pay for it.' No compromise, no meetings, no kaffe klatsch, no skinnin' and grinning. Pay for your deeds."

Lie #5) The Central Park jogger was monstrously raped and nearly beaten to death. Supporting the defendants, Sharpton lied and said the jogger’s boyfriend did it and organized protests outside the courthouse, chanting, “The boyfriend did it!” and denouncing the victim as a “whore!”

Lie #6) Remember the controversy surrounding the Duke lacrosse team? They were falsely accused of rape and without any facts Al Sharpton declared that these ”rich white boys” had attacked a ”black girl” and he warned that if arrests were not made immediately, there would be "no peace." The "victim" was proved to be a liar and eventually recanted - but Sharpton never recanted!

Lie #7) The Jewish owner of Freddy’s Fashion Mart in Harlem was forced by its landlord - a Black Church - to raise the rent on a black-owned sub-tenant. Sharpton falsely blamed Freddy's for the rent dispute and called him a “white interloper” even though the store had been in the same location for 40 years. Following one of the Sharpton incited demonstrations, one of the protestors, a black man, stormed Freddy’s Fashion Mart with a pistol, screaming: “It’s on now! All blacks out!” In addition to shooting, he set fire to the building, eventually killing himself and seven others. Sharpton denied having spoken at any rallies and refused to accept any responsibility for poisoning the atmosphere, but the Jewish Action Alliance had recordings of Sharpton proving he was lying. While never acknowledging he incited the incident, the MSNBC "star" did apologize for calling Freddy's owner a white interloper. He claimed his error was not leaving out the word "white."

NBC News' Al Sharpton has told lies much more damaging than those told by Brian Williams, yet they aren't investigating his lies.

A group of Islamic State militants penetrated an Iraqi air base where U.S. military advisers are training Iraqi forces, the first time attackers have gotten beyond the outer perimeter of an Iraqi base being used by American trainers.

* YET ANOTHER "FIRST" CONNECTED TO THE OBAMA YEARS...

U.S. officials said eight Islamic State militants struck a small building at the edge of the huge al-Asad Air Base before being repelled by Iraqi forces. All eight were killed.

* GOOD. (HOW MUCH DID IT COST US TO BUILD THE BUILDING? HOW MUCH WILL IT COST US TO REBUILD IT?)

Military officials said American and other coalition trainers were “several kilometers” away from the attack and under no direct threat.

* THANKS GOD!

There are 400 U.S. Marines and other service members at the base.

The attacks on the base came after Islamic State fighters moved against the nearby Iraqi town of al-Baghdadi earlier on Thursday. The militants, according to an Iraqi official, took control of a number of government buildings after the local police fled following a pair of suicide bombings. It isn’t clear how much of the town the militants control.

(*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD*)

Al-Baghdadi, which is less than nine miles from al-Asad, has been under attack from Islamic State militants for months.

(*CLAP...CLAP...CLAP FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER SIGH*)

Militants have launched repeated mortar and rocket attacks on al-Asad in recent weeks that have been considered ineffective.

Al-Asad, about 100 miles west of Baghdad, is one of the bases where the U.S. military conducts training for Iraqi security forces and has become a high-profile target and a focus of Islamic State fighters.

The U.S. has installed counter-mortar radar and mounted airstrikes around al-Asad to try to take out the teams that have been attacking the base, officials said.

Elon Musk isn’t known for modesty, and this week the Tesla Motors CEO laid out his ambition to grow 50% a year and deliver a stock valuation in 10 years of $700 billion — the current valuation of Apple, the world’s most valuable company.

So why does Tesla, which is already valued at about $27 billion, still need so much taxpayer welfare?

Mr. Musk this week played down a $108 million loss in Tesla’s fiscal fourth quarter, which he attributed to one-time manufacturing inefficiencies, a strong dollar and lower than expected deliveries.

Tesla said delivering some “cars was physically impossible due to a combination of customers being on vacation, severe winter weather and shipping problems (with actual ships).” Tesla shares fell 4.66% Thursday on the news.

* WHAT'S THIS HAVE TO DO WITH SUBSIDIES... CORPORATE WELFARE...?

The world loves an optimist, and fast-growing start-ups often lose money as they focus on capital investment. What makes Tesla different is that the bottom line would have been much worse without $86 million in profits from the sale of government emissions credits.

A Barclays analyst told the Journal that the fourth-quarter results were “heavily supported” by the credits.

* WHAT A FUCKING SCAM...

Because it produces only electric cars, Tesla receives excess “credits” for complying with federal fuel-efficiency standards and state zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) mandates, notably in California. Tesla can then hawk its surplus credits to auto makers that fail to meet the government rules. Last year Tesla made a roughly $150 million killing from selling ZEV credits. That’s up from $130 million in 2013, $32 million in 2012, and $3 million in 2011. All told in 2014 Tesla sold about $216 million in credits, equal to about 7% of its auto sales.

* WOW...

Those government subsidies come on top of a $7,500 federal tax credit for each electric car sale and state rebates.

* YEP. THE POOR SLOB DRIVING AROUND IN A HUNK OF JUNK BECAUSE THAT'S THE BEST HE CAN AFFORD IS SUBSIDIZING TESLA BUYERS. WHAT A COUNTRY, HUH?!

Nevada and California have also bestowed upward of $1.5 billion in tax breaks on Tesla.

A Tesla earnings report last year predicted that revenue from credits would “remain low in the future relative to our automotive sales” though it would “pursue opportunities to monetize ZEV credits.” Such opportunities will abound as California’s ZEV and federal fuel-efficiency mandates grow more stringent. More states are also adopting electric-car mandates.

Capitalism needs visionaries, but its reputation suffers when companies worth billions soak middle-class taxpayers for profits.
