Well, here we go again - from a different library!

Anyway... the plan is to pick up the "new" PC tonight. (So hopefully I'll be up and running from home again tomorrow!)

Anyway... as always, the actual newsbites will be found in the comments section of this post!

* LISTEN. I DONT' USUALLY POST WND STUFF, BUT THE AUTHOR OF THIS PIECE, BOB UNRUH, SPENT NEARLY THREE DECADES WITH THE AP.

Members of Congress on Monday learned they were not among the top 90 people to be told of the deal President Obama cut with terrorists for the release of five top Taliban commanders at Guantanamo Bay in exchange for a U.S. soldier.

And they now have a few questions about that.

Congress held a behind-closed-doors hearing on the deal for Bergdahl. Some of the details presented were classified, others not.

Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., told WND: “Today my colleagues and I were informed that as many as 80 to 90 Obama administration officials were aware of the plan to exchange Sgt. Bergdahl for five dangerous terrorists before a single member of Congress was informed.” Meadows said it is “wholly unacceptable that President Obama knowingly chose to completely bypass Congress.”

The congressman said his question for the White House now is: “How many Qatar officials knew about the deal before a single member of Congress was made aware?”

Obama’s decision to trade five battle-hardened Taliban commanders, directly responsible for the deaths of thousands, for deserter-collaborator Bowe Bergdahl was unanimously rejected by both houses of Congress, including the Democrat-controlled Senate, when the proposal was brought to Congress in 2011 and 2013.

* FURTHERMORE...

After that rejection, administration officials publicly and repeatedly vowed to return to Congress before taking any final action.

(In other words...not only was this an egregiously bad decision to yield to terrorist demands, thus providing incentives for future kidnappings of Americans, but it was yet another example of Obama deliberately defying the will of Congress and the rule of law – something his administration has been brazenly saying it will do more frequently.)

* YEP...

* THE UK "DAILY MAIL" HEADLINE: "Now the White House says Hagel made final call on Bergdahl as criticism of Obama over prisoner swap mounts"

* UNFRIGGIN'BELIEVABLE...

Final approval for the prisoner exchange that freed Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was made by Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, members of Congress learned on Monday from administration officials.

* MEMBERS OF CONGRESS WERE TOLD... WERE TOLD BY ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALS. (*SHRUG*) THIS ADMINISTRATION'S TRACK RECORD... LET'S JUST SAY THEY'VE BEEN KNOWN TO LIE IN THE PAST.

'They indicated (it was) Secretary Hagel (who made the final call),' Rep. Buck McKeon (R-CA) said after a classified briefing, ABC points out.

* AND SINCE HAGEL WASN'T IMMEDIATELY ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH USURPATION OF POWER...

(*SHRUG*)

* FOLKS. CLEARLY OBAMA IS THROWING HAGEL UNDER THE BUS. (OR HAGEL VOLUNTEERED TO TAKE THE HIT AFTER THE $HIT HIT THE FAN.)

'It was the president of the United States that came out (in the Rose Garden) with the Bergdahls and took all the credit and now that there’s been a little pushback he’s moving away from it and it’s Secretary Hagel?'

* YEP... THAT'S HOW IT APPEARS...

Last week, Hagel said the swap was a unanimous decision when speaking to the BBC.

* YEP!

'It was the Secretary of Defense, Secretary of State, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Director of National Intelligence, Attorney General,' he said.

* FOLKS... ONLY OBAMA COULD HAVE APPROVED THIS. (LET'S BE REAL...)

'It was our judgement based on the information that we had that his life, his health were in peril,' Hagel also told the channel in defense of not giving Congress 30 days' notice of the plan.

* MORE LIES...

* FOLKS... THE INMATES ARE RUNNING THE ASYLUM. PERIOD.

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/11/world/asia/friendly-fire-strike-kills-5-special-operations-soldiers-in-afghanistan.html?_r=0

Five American Special Operations service members and at least one Afghan soldier were killed when a United States Air Force B-1 bomber unleashed an airstrike on their position in southern Afghanistan, in one of the deadliest instances of friendly fire in more than a decade of war, Afghan and American officials said Tuesday.

* ANOTHER FIVE AMERICANS KILLED... FOR NOTHING.

The Pentagon press secretary, Rear Adm. John Kirby, said in a statement that five American soldiers had been killed “during a security operation in southern Afghanistan.”

* DO YOU FEEL ANY MORE SECURE THAN BEFORE YOU READ THIS...? I DON'T. I FEEL LESS SECURE.

Since the war began, there have been more than a dozen cases in which airstrikes mistakenly killed allies, or when gunfights erupted between coalition troops unaware they were firing on one another. Among the most highly publicized was the fatal shooting of the former National Football League player Pat Tillman, who was serving in an Army Ranger unit when he was killed by coalition fire in April 2004.

More recently, Afghan security forces have been the victims in such incidents, including an airstrike in March that killed five Afghan soldiers in eastern Logar Province. That is in large part because there are fewer coalition soldiers fighting on the ground in Afghanistan other than Special Operations forces.

* OUR FORCES. ONCE OUR BEST AND BRIGHTEST. NOW... OBAMA'S CANNON FODDER... OBAMA'S PAWNS.

The Taliban also released a statement about the airstrike, confirming their role in the ambush and claiming that their troops also ambushed a joint patrol in the Mizan district of Zabul.
