Weekend Newsbites: Sat. & Sun., March 16 & 17, 2013

Watch and listen to the lyrics...

Did any of the lyrics strike you particularly...???

How'bout...

"Don't pass the plate, boys...
Don't pass the cup..."

Remember when America wasn't a welfare state... when Americans had pride... when nearly 50,000,000 Americans weren't on food stamps... when a hell of a lot more than half of us paid "our fair share" of federal income taxes - meaning paid at least something in federal income taxes?!

I ran into a public sector union worker the other day who was bitching and moaning that he was being asked to pay part of his health insurance package... contribute to his "benefits."

I told the guy that I wished he were paying 100%... that I wished we were all paying our own damn bills!

This guy looked at me like I was crazy...

(And, again... this guy is actually employed... actually working... a contributing member of society!)

I miss my America, folks.

Dr. Benjamin Carson, the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital who garnered national headlines for his pointed remarks at last month’s National Prayer Breakfast, says that President Obama and his political allies are trying to “destroy the country.”

“Let’s say somebody were [in the White House] and they wanted to destroy this nation,” Carson postulated in remarks at the Conservative Political Action Conference. “[He] would create division among the people, encourage a culture of ridicule for basic morality and the principles that made and sustained the country, undermine the financial stability of the nation, and weaken and destroy the military."

"It appears coincidentally that those are the very things that are happening right now.”

Chelsea Clinton is buying a $10.5 million spread right across the street from Madison Square Park, sources told The Post yesterday.

(*CLAP...CLAP...CLAP*)

* AND WHAT HAS CHELSEA CLINTON DONE TO BECOME RICH... WELL... SHE WAS BORN... BORN THE DAUGHTER OF BILL CLINTON... AND THEN SHE MARRIED A GOLDMAN SACHS GUY...

(*RUEFUL SMILE*)

The former first daughter and her husband, Marc Mezvinsky, signed a contract for the massive, 5,000-square-foot pad at The Whitman last month, the sources said.

* 5,000 SQUARE FEET, HUH...

(*WHISTLING*)

* FOLKS... I'M NOT SINGLING OUT CHELSEA. WHAT I'M SINGLING OUT IF HOW THE OLIGARCHY WORKS. AMERICA IS BUILDING A NOBILITY AND APPARENTLY THAT'S WHAT AMERICANS WANT.

The barbershop of the U.S. Senate has run deficits of approximately $350,000 a year for each of the last 15 years.

* FOLKS... AGAIN... EXPLAIN TO ME HOW VIOLENCE ISN'T THE ONLY ANSWER...

(*SIGH*)

Senate sergeant at arms Terry Gainer has tried to trim Senate Hair Care Services for the past few years.

* AND FAILED...

* AND YET... IS STILL EMPLOYED - I'M GUESSING AT A SIX-FIGURE SALARY WITH (AT LEAST) FIVE-FIGURE BENEFITS PACKAGE.

According to a report from the Office of the Sergeant at Arms, Senator Paul Douglas (D-Ill.) spoke out against the federally funded barbershop back in 1951, suggesting that taxpayers need not pick up the tab for their legislators’ haircuts. Arizona senator [and fellow-Democrat] Carl Hayden quickly rejected Douglas’s efforts, gaining support by arguing that the barbershop was an important institution passed down from the great statesmen who came before them.

* BTW... DEMOCRATS CONTROLLED THE SENATE IN 1951.

Rick Santorum...took on the barbershop in 1997. Senators and barbers alike were quick to object.

* REPUBLICANS CONTROLLED THE SENATE IN 1997.

House Republicans successfully privatized their taxpayer-subsidized barbershop in 1995, when they passed a resolution from then-speaker Newt Gingrich’s privatization task force. The operation had been losing $50,000 annually, according to Roll Call.

* GINGRICH...

(*PURSED LIPS*)

Senate Hair Care Services has cost taxpayers about $5.25 million over 15 years. [American taxpayers] foot the bill of more than $40,000 for the shoeshine attendant last fiscal year.

(*SNORT*)

* FOLKS... IT'S REALLY NOT FUNNY. IT REALLY TELLS YOU ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT HOW THESE BASTARDS "BUDGET."

* AGAIN... IN ALL SERIOUSNESS... KILLING A NUMBER OF THE BASTARDS TILL THE REST GET THE MESSAGE... THAT'S THE ONLY "VIABLE" MEANS OF CHANGE I SEE... AND THE REASON I PUT "VIABLE" IN QUOTES IS BECAUSE IN THE REAL WORLD IT'S NEVER GONNA HAPPEN. (OR RATHER IT WON'T HAPPEN TILL AFTER IT'S TOO LATE... TILL IT'LL ONLY DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD.)

Gainer, who is entering his seventh year as sergeant at arms, accepts the blame, saying “shame on me” for not moving to privatize it sooner.

* WHAT "TAKING THE BLAME?" TAKING THE BLAME WOULD BE RESIGNING! TAKING THE BLAME WOULD MEAN RENOUNCING HIS PENSION!
