Some 11 million to 15 million illegal aliens are now residing in America, most after crossing into America unlawfully.

* I'VE READ ESTIMATES AS HIGH AS 20 MILLION... (*SHRUG*)

The federal government is suing Arizona for the state's efforts to enforce the federal immigration law. The lawsuit alleges that Arizona is too zealous both in enforcing immigration law and encroaching on federal jurisdiction.

But wait - for years, several American cities have declared themselves sanctuary cities. City officials have even bragged that they would not allow their municipalities to enforce federal immigration statutes. So why does Washington sue a state that seeks to enhance federal immigration laws and yet ignore cities that blatantly try to erode them?

* THE ANSWER: BARAK HUSSEIN OBAMA.

Proponents of open borders have organized May Day rallies, staged boycotts of Arizona, sued in federal and state courts, and sought to portray those who want to enforce existing federal immigration law as racially insensitive. But about 70% of Americans support securing our borders, and support the Arizona law in particular. Are a clear majority of Americans racist, brainwashed or deluded in believing that their laws should be enforced?

It is considered liberal to support open borders and reactionary to want to close them. But illegal immigration drives down the hourly wages of the working American poor.

* OFTEN AFRICAN-AMERICAN CITIZENS. (SEE: DISPARATE IMPACT.)

Tens of thousands of impoverished people abroad, from Africa to Asia, wait patiently to enter America legally, while hundreds of thousands from Latin America do not. How liberal can all that be?

* AGAIN... THE BLACK UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN OUR COUNTRY IS PRESENTLY 15.4%

* BTW... THE HISPANIC UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IS OUR COUNTRY IS PRESENTLY 12.4%.

* DOES SOMEONE WANT TO EXPLAIN TO ME WHY WE NEED LOW-SKILLED, UNASSIMILATED LEGAL IMMIGRATION AT THIS POINT - LET ALONE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION...???

America extends housing, food and education subsidies to illegal aliens in need. But Mexico receives more than $20 billion in American remittances a year - its second-highest source of foreign exchange, and almost of it from its own nationals living in the United States. Are Americans then subsidizing the Mexican government by extending social services to aliens, freeing up cash for them to send back home?

These baffling questions are rarely posed, never addressed and often considered politically incorrect. But they will only be asked more frequently in the months ahead.

The number of Americans who are receiving food stamps rose to a record 40.8 million in May as the jobless rate hovered near a 27-year high, the government reported yesterday. Participation has set records for 18 straight months.

Recipients of...subsidies for food purchases jumped 19% from a year earlier and increased 0.9% from April, the US Department of Agriculture said in a statement on its website.

* THE OBAMA RECOVERY IN ACTION... (*SIGH*)

An average of 40.5 million people, more than an eighth of the population, will get food stamps each month in the year that began Oct. 1, according to White House estimates.

The figure is projected to rise to 43.3 million in 2011.

When General Motors went through bankruptcy last year, it suspended its political donations. Now that it's owned by the U.S. government, it's donating to lawmakers' pet projects again. The carmaker gave $41,000 to groups associated with lawmakers, the vast majority of it - $36,000 - to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, the company reported on a disclosure form last week.

The U.S. government now has a 60% stake in the reformed company.

* FOLKS... YA CAN'T MAKE THIS CRAP UP!

Recently the Congressional Research Service reported that our military undertakings in Iraq and Afghanistan have marked an important milestone. Together, they have cost more than a trillion dollars.

[These undeclared wars] have cost more in real dollars than the Korean and Vietnam wars combined.

Adjusted for inflation, we have spent more on Iraq and Afghanistan than on any war in our history except World War II.

* DOES THIS MAKE ANY FRIGG'N SENSE TO YOU...?!?! TO ANY OF YOU...?!?!

Neither war is over, and neither is going to be soon. The House just approved $37 billion in extra funding to cover this year, and the administration wants another $159 billion for 2011.

(That won't be the final request.)

[T]he CRS figure is only part of the bill so far; the sum doesn't include the "costs of veterans' benefits, interest on war-related debt or assistance to allies."

All of those will go on after these wars are over...

Afghanistan seemed simple and painless at the outset. But our mission has been going on for nearly nine years, and the object of our solicitude remains a poor, violent, corruption-riddled country that gives anarchy a bad name. Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari said this week that the U.S. and its allies are "in the process of losing the war against the Taliban."

The Iraq invasion was supposed to be a cakewalk. Today, seven years and 34,000 casualties later, President Barack Obama says he is on the verge of bringing that war to "a responsible end." But that may hinge on how you define "responsible" and "end." All U.S. combat troops are supposed to leave this month, but 50,000 will remain at least through 2011. Their timely departure depends on the Iraqi government achieving a tolerable level of safety and stability. Neither is a sure thing, since July was the deadliest month for civilians in more than two years and the country still lacks a government five months after the national elections.
