If somebody wants to debate any of the points I've made on recent threads here, let them have at it.
I'd be interested in in anybody's comments on the Health Care bill w/r/t to the disinformation the pro-life movement has been putting out there about "Obamacare" expanding federal funding of abortion; "death panels"; "the government coming between you and your doctor" and all the rest of the lies being propagated by pro-life rightwingers on talk radio and both houses of congress.
The net effect, had they been more successful than they were in killing the legislation, would have been to deprive millions of access to good medical care in the service of a myth.
Why are these men so utterly cynical and amoral? What is their real agenda (since it isn't really "pro-life" and the legislation doesn't really "put a federal bureaucrat between you and your doctor" in any sense other than the sense in which you already have a corporate bureaucrat between you and your doctor.
Why did they kill the public option, which would have given individuals REAL choice, if "competition" is truly their ideal?
Finally, why are Americans so frigging stupid and easily led around by the nose by cynical plutocrats and their butt-boys?

Well, Rob, as you know, abortion isn't one of my issues.

I've made my views clear on the topic from time to time (as you may or may not recall) but it's really not a "focus" issue for me (as I'm sure you're aware).

I recall past newsbites focusing on the whole issue of whether and to what extent ObamaCare (the various bills) expanded federal funding for abortion, but quite honestly... since again "the abortion question" really isn't an area I tend to focus on... I'm not prepared to ex temporize on the specifics.

Perhaps if you'd like to put your position on what the bill does and doesn't do regarding abortion that would be a good start for me - and anyone else interested - to reply to.

As to "Death Panels," that's simply hyperbolic shorthand (well... hyperbolic at the present... the problem is where the sliding slope would lead to) about government regulation concerning what is and is not recommended in terms of prevention/treatment and therefore - ultimately - what the government will and will not "ok" in terms of defining reimburseables.

As for "the government coming between patients and doctors" that again is "shorthand" referring to what the results of ObamaCare legislation will be in the real world.

(Newsbites are full of articles and analysis - mine and other folks - on that score.) (*SHRUG*)

I have no problem "debating" you, Rob; indeed, I quite enjoy it to a point. That said, asking if anyone wants to debate any points you've made "on recent threads" here at Usually Right just isn't offer the specific, targeted focus of a single statement or question.

* P.S. - Perhaps you could "cross-post" over at Rodak Riffs asking interested parties to check in here on this thread to throw out their thoughts.

The issue is not abortion. The issue is rightwing disinformation/propaganda campaigns.
