Long Weekend Newsbites: 4/6-7-8/2012

Hey, folks...

HAPPY EASTER!

I may manage to post a few newsbites... but I may not.

In any case, enjoy your Easter... enjoy your Passover... if you're neither Christian nor Jewish... enjoy the weekend!

  1. U.S. payrolls rose far less than expected in March...

    * NOT "JUST" LESS - BUT "FAR" LESS.

Employers added 120,000 jobs last month, the Labor Department said on Friday, the smallest increase since October.

Economists polled by Reuters had expected non-farm employment to increase 203,000 and the unemployment rate to hold at 8.3%.

    * SO... ACCORDING TO THE WAY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MEASURES UNEMPLOYMENT STATS... (*SCRATCHING MY HEAD*)... IF 83,000 *FEWER* "NEW" JOBS COME INTO BEING THEN THAT MEANS THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE GOES... DOWN...?!?!

    * RHETORICAL OBSERVATION. YES, FOLKS... THAT'S WHAT IT MEANS. (*SMIRK*)

The drop in the [official] unemployment rate, [supposedly] to the lowest level since January 2009, reflected a drop in the labor force.

    * A... DROP... IN... THE... LABOR... FORCE.

    * IN OTHER WORDS, FOLKS... FEWER AMERICANS - AS A PERCENTAGE OF THE POPULATION - HAVE A JOB! DOES THIS SOUND LIKE "PROGRESS" TO YOU...?!?!

    * FOLKS... AS ALWAYS, I'VE PROVIDED THE LINK TO THE FULL STORY. (*SHRUG*) THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT WE'RE BEING PLAYED.

  2. "While the unemployment rate fell to its lowest level since January 2009, that was mainly because some people gave up the search for work."

Same old spin... Exclude the disinterested.
