Here's EXACTLY what Cruz said:
You know, this is another issue on which Donald and I have sharp disagreements. On Planned Parenthood, he thinks Planned Parenthood is wonderful. I would instruct the Department of Justice to investigate them and prosecute any and all criminal violations. On ObamaCare, both Donald and I say we want to end it, but for very different reasons. I want to end it because it goes too far, it's killed millions of jobs, and it's hurting people's health care.Donald wants to end it because he says it doesn't go nearly far enough. And what was amazing in that exchange that was missing is for decades Donald has been advocating socialized medicine. What he's said is government should pay for everyone's health care, and in fact, a couple of debates ago, he said, if you don't support socialized health care, you're heartless. Now, liberal Democrats have been saying that for years. Now let me tell you if you're a small business owner, Donald Trump's socialized medicine, putting the government in charge of your health care would kill more jobs than ObamaCare, and if you're elderly, the result of socialized medicine in every country on earth where it's been implemented has been rationing, has been the government saying, 'no, you don't get that hip replacement, you don't get that knee replacement, the government is in charge of your health care.'I'll tell you this. As president I will repeal every word of ObamaCare.
Then there was THIS exchange between Cruz and Trump:
I do not want socialized medicine, just so you understand. He goes around saying oh, he wants it. I do not want socialized medicine. I do agree with him that it's going to be a disaster, ObamaCare, for the economy. In 2017, it will be impossible for us to pay for it if you look at what's going on. That's why it has to be repealed, for a lot of reasons; number one, it doesn't work, number two, premiums. You look at premiums going up, 25%, 35%, even 45%, and more. We have to get rid of ObamaCare. It is going to destroy our economy completely. Our economy is not doing well. It is going to destroy our economy greatly. And on that, I agree.* SO FAR, SO GOOD... THAT IS... IF YOU TAKE HIM AT HIS WORD THAT HE'S ACTUALLY AGAINST SOCIALIZED MEDICINE... WHICH... IS A QUESTION MARK AS YOU'LL SEE VIA CONTINUING TO READ...
Donald, true or false, you've said the government should pay for everyone's health care.
TRUMP: That's false.
* FOLKS... I DON'T KNOW... SOUNDS LIKE CRUZ IS PRETTY CONFIDENT; SOUNDS LIKE HE HAS EITHER A VIDEO OR A TRANSCRIPT READY TO GO...
You've never said that?
No, I said it worked in a couple of countries...
CRUZ: But you've never stood on this debate stage and [said] it works great in Canada and Scotland and we should do it here?
TRUMP: No, I did not. No I did not.
* MY BEST GUESS? LET'S PUT IT THIS WAY: "LIAR, LIAR, PANTS ON FIRE!"
Did you say if you want people to die on the streets, if you don't support socialized health care, you have no heart.
TRUMP: Correct. I will not let people die on the streets if I'm president.
* DID OR DID NOT TRUMP SAY "IF YOU DON'T SUPPORT SOCIALIZED HEALTH CARE YOU HAVE NO HEART?"
* FOLKS... EITHER CRUZ IS LYING OR TRUMP IS LYING. AND CRUZ IS A LAWYER. I DOUBT HE'D BE DUMB ENOUGH TO LIE LIKE THIS. TRUMP ON THE OTHER HAND...
* AND YOU KNOW WHAT REALLY MAKES ME SICK? NOTICE... THE CNN ANCHOR... BLITZER... DOESN'T SEEM INTERESTED AT ALL IN WHO IS LYING AND WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH.
Have you said you're a liberal on health care?
TRUMP: Excuse me. Let me talk. If people...
* I'D LIKE AN ANSWER TO THE QUESTION - WOULDN'T YOU FOLKS?
My plan is very simple. I will not... we're going to have private... we are going to have health care, but I will not allow people to die on the sidewalks and the streets of our country if I'm president. You may let it and you may be fine with it...
So does the government pay for everyone's health care?Yes or no. Just answer the question.
Excuse me. We are going to take those people and those people are going to be serviced by doctors and hospitals. We're going to make great deals on it, but we're not going to let them die in the streets.
* SO THE ANSWER IS "YES." SO... CRUZ IS TELLING THE TRUTH. SO... FREE HEALTH CARE FOR ALL BUT TRUMP DOESN'T WANNA CALL IT WELFARE - THAT SEEMS TO BE THE ULTIMATE ANSWER TO CRUZ'S QUESTIONS - OR AM I MISSING SOMETHING?
Who pays for it? ... It's a yes or no.
Call it what you want, people are not going to be dying on the sidewalk.
So... I'm watching the debate... they're now talking about ObamaCare and the individual mandate. This Piece of $hit Rubio first blasts Trump for backing (or allegedly backing - I haven't heard Trump's response yet) the "individual mandate."
As I note above... Trump's response will be coming up...
But THEN Rubio goes on to take the exact WRONG position with regard to the whole underlying dysfunction of our American health insurance system, namely:
Rubio goes on to LAUD employers "giving" their employees health insurance and ALSO LAUDS the concept of if not actually "offering health insurance" per se, tax-free money from your employer TOWARDS one's health insurance.
(*MASSIVE MIGRAINE HEADACHE*)
Folks... do you need shelter? How'bout food? Clothing? How'bout college for the kids? Your car... do you need your car to get to work?
Folks... I need you to PONDER...
Shouldn't income be income?
If Joe earns $50,000 in salary and $20,000 in "benefits" while Joan earns a straight $70,000 salary... should Joan get nailed? Should Joe get a tax "break?" (Which... by the way... higher taxes elsewhere - on ALL of us - "make up" for!)
Are your other bills tied to your employment or lack thereof in the sense of tax policy?
Raise your hand if you think it would be just great for your employer to pay for your healthcare... and mortgage... and car loans... and grocery bills... via "direct billing" leaving you with an "income" in actual dollars (the amount on your salary check) of say... $60 a week?
Folks... income is income; at least it should be. Whether or not "healthcare expenditures" should be tax free at the PURCHASING end... (like most food is in most if not all states)... is a DIFFERENT QUESTION... a DIFFERENT ISSUE.
Folks... it's the tax-free status of "benefits" that in large part pits those with great benefits against those with... not so great benefits... or no benefits.
Folks... it's the tax-free status of "benefits" that misallocates (and frankly limits) what would otherwise be not just take-home pay, but also individual freedom and individual responsibility regarding how each of us ENJOYS THE FRUITS OF OUR LABORS!
The fact that Rubio can't see this...
Folks... those of you who consider yourselves "conservatives"... I hope you all "get" what I'm saying.
To those who have already watched the debate - did you notice the half-hearted applause Cruz got after his frankly PERFECT response concerning Supreme Court nominations and federal court nominations in general?
Folks... understand... the RINOs do NOT agree with us that only constitutionists should be placed on the bench. The just don't.
To me... the fact that we can COUNT on Cruz putting ONLY constitutionists on the bench... and on the Supreme Court... is HUGE.
OK, folks... now PLEASE... read and RE-read if necessary; the following is VERY IMPORTANT...
Trump's response... and his slam against Cruz... HERE'S the real deal:
Trump is RIGHT that Roberts is a piece of $hit. He's also RIGHT that Cruz supported Roberts.
BUT... and HERE'S where you have to follow the LOGIC of REALITY:
It's not like Roberts was CRUZ'S nominee. Roberts was BUSH'S nominee. Cruz supported Roberts AFTER Bush made his choice and placed Roberts' name in nomination. Cruz didn't advise Bush "Hey! You've gotta pick Roberts!" Indeed, I doubt that back then "Dubya" even knew who the heck Cruz was!
Folks... the charge is POLITICS. As a tactic... it's effective. No doubt Trump "scored." But... the charge is disingenuous. It's just not fair. Once Bush nominated Roberts... especially given Roberts' pre-appointment record... we ALL supported him! I supported him!
(*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD*)
Folks... with these upcoming Supreme Court appointments... I have NO DOUBT that Ted Cruz can be trusted to appoint ONLY true constitutionists who can be trusted to remain true constitutionists. Trump? I'm not sure. Rubio? I tend to doubt it?
And there you are...
OK... Cruz just responded... and not only did he say just what I explained... but he actually NAMED the guy he WOULD have appointed! Again... there's simply NO DOUBT that when it comes to Supreme Court (and lesser federal court) nominations... CRUZ is the guy you can trust 100%. Period. End of story.
As for Rubio...
This two-faced phony apparently isn't even aware that it's Justice Thomas who is known as the most faithful to the Constitution. Yes... Scalia was great as well... BUT... anyone familiar with the nuances of "judging" a Judges record KNOWS that Scalia gave FAR more weight to Precedent - including BAD PRECEDENT - than Thomas does.
So... Rubio? Again... the guy isn't honest... and he's not all that knowledgeable. (And you may have noticed... unlike Cruz... Rubio didn't actually mention the name of a person he'd actual appoint if given the chance.)
Hmm... still watching Rubio and Trump go back and forth... and wondering how the heck and what the heck Israel and Planned Parenthood have to do with Supreme Court picks... HOWEVER... Trump NOW says he's in FAVOR of defunding Planned Parenthood - so THIS is a NEWS HEADLINE! (Or at least it SHOULD be!)
