Barker's Newsbites: Thursday, December 5, 2013

Afternoon, folks!

My new tee-shirts are in! (JC Penny just called!) Yep... eight brand new 2XT tees for Billy Boy!

Why am I writing about my tee-shirts...?! Because they're a PAIN IN THE ASS to get!

As Americans get bigger and fatter manufacturers and retailers seem to have responded by limiting Big & Tall clothing offerings! (Hanes discontinued their TALL tee-shirt line years ago!)

Anyway... I'm off to the store to pick up my tee-shirts! The plan is to do some newsbiting when I get back!

http://nypost.com/2013/12/05/global-warming-proof-is-evaporating/

The 2013 hurricane season just ended as one of the five quietest years since 1960. But don’t expect anyone who pointed to last year’s hurricanes as “proof” of the need to act against global warming to apologize; the warmists don’t work that way.

Warmist claims of a severe increase in hurricane activity go back to 2005 and Hurricane Katrina. The cover of Al Gore’s 2009 book, “Our Choice: A Plan to Solve the Climate Crisis,” even features a satellite image of the globe with four major hurricanes superimposed. Yet the evidence to the contrary was there all along.

Back in 2005 I and others reviewed the entire hurricane record, which goes back over a century, and found no increase of any kind. Yes, we sometimes get bad storms — but no more frequently now than in the past. The advocates simply ignored that evidence — then repeated their false claims after Hurricane Sandy last year.

And the media play along.

For example, it somehow wasn’t front-page news that committed believers in man-made global warming recently admitted there’s been no surface global warming for well over a decade and maybe none for decades more.

Nor did we see warmists conceding that their explanation is essentially a confession that the previous warming may not have been man-made at all.

(That admission came in a new paper by prominent warmists in the peer-reviewed journal Climate Dynamics. They not only conceded that average global surface temperatures stopped warming a full 15 years ago, but that this “pause” could extend into the 2030s.)

(Mind you, the term “pause” is misleading in the extreme: Unless and until it resumes again, it’s just a “stop.” You don’t say a bullet-ridden body “paused” breathing.)

Remarkably, that stoppage has practically been a state secret. Just five years ago, the head of the International Panel on Climate Change, the group most associated with “proving” that global warming is man-made and has horrific potential consequences, told Congress that Earth is running a “fever” that’s “apt to get much worse.” Yet he and IPCC knew the warming had stopped a decade earlier.

The single most damning aspect of the “pause” is that, because it has occurred when “greenhouse gases” have been pouring into the atmosphere at record levels, it shows at the very least that something natural is at play here. The warmists suggest that natural factors have “suppressed” the warming temporarily, but that’s just a guess: The fact is, they have nothing like the understanding of the climate that they claimed (and their many models that all showed future warming mean nothing, since they all used essentially the same false information).

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/365607/washington-has-enrolled-almost-nine-times-many-people-medicaid-private-plans-sterling

ObamaCare's defenders often point to states like Washington to prove that the law is succeeding. However, the Evergreen State is signing up vastly more people for Medicaid than for private insurance.

Through the first two months of enrollment, Healthplanfinder, the state’s health-care exchange, has enrolled 176,468 Washingtonians in coverage.

Over 91,000 are newly eligible for expanded Medicaid and more than 66,000 were currently eligible but were not enrolled. That leaves only 18,131 residents who purchased private policies.

Altogether, that means that eight-and-a-half times as many people have signed up for Medicaid as have enrolled in private insurance.

An additional 43,000 people have completed applications for private plans but have yet to submit payment, which is due by December 23 for coverage that begins on January 1, 2014.

Meanwhile, the exchange website went offline for repairs from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday evening. Users had been experiencing errors on Monday and Tuesday.

http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2013/12/05/president-obama-acknowledges-having-lived-with-his-uncle/mz67SRGIExGAZJuOQsl1JI/story.html

President Obama acknowledged on Thursday that he lived with his Kenyan uncle for a brief period in the 1980s while preparing to attend Harvard Law School, contradicting a statement more than a year ago that the White House had no record of the two ever meeting.

* UNFUCKIN'BELIEVABLE... THE BALLS ON THIS MUTHA-F--KER... (AND SO MUCH FOR MEDIA VETTING...)

Their relationship came into question on Tuesday at the deportation hearing of his uncle, Onyango Obama, in Boston immigration court. His uncle had lived in the United States illegally since the 1970s and revealed in testimony for the first time that his famous nephew had stayed at his Cambridge apartment for about three weeks. At the time, Onyango Obama was here illegally and fighting deportation.

The White House said Obama’s immigration case was handled “without any interference from the president or the White House.”

* BUT THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS ARTICLE IS TO POINT OUT THAT THE PRESIDENT IS A FUCKING LIAR!

Onyango Obama’s immigration case raised numerous concerns about a potential conflict of interest after his arrest in August 2011 for drunken driving in Framingham. The arrest revealed his outstanding deportation orders and his relationship to the president.

Obama is [actually] the second relative of the president’s father to face deportation to Kenya since he took office. Zeituni Onyango, Obama’s sister, won asylum in 2010 after a federal official disclosed days before the president’s historic election in 2008 that she was living illegally in the United States, in Boston public housing.

(*JUST SHAKING MY HEAD*)

On Tuesday, immigration Judge Leonard I. Shapiro granted Obama legal residency based on what he said was his good moral character and a section of federal law that allows him to get a green card because he arrived before 1972.

* GOOD MORAL CHARACTER...?!?!

* FOLKS... THESE BASTARDS HAVE NO FEAR OF YOU! THEY'LL GIVE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE THE FINGER ALL DAY LONG!

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2013/12/04/turley_obamas_become_the_very_danger_the_constitution_was_designed_to_avoid.html

REP. BOB GOODLATTE (R-VA): Professor Turley, the constitution, the system of separated powers is not simply about stopping one branch of government from usurping another. It's about protecting the liberty of Americans from the dangers of concentrated government power. How does the president's unilateral modification of act of Congress affect both the balance of power between the political branches and the liberty interests of the American people?

JONATHAN TURLEY: Thank you, Mr. Chairman. The danger is quite severe. The problem with what the president is doing is that he's not simply posing a danger to the constitutional system, he's becoming the very danger the Constitution was designed to avoid. That is the concentration of power in every single branch.

This Newtonian orbit that the three branches exist in is a delicate one but it is designed to prevent this type of concentration.

There is two trends going on which should be of equal concern to all members of Congress. One is that we have had the radical expansion of presidential powers under both President Bush and President Obama.

We have what many once called an imperial presidency model of largely unchecked authority.

And with that trend we also have the continued rise of this fourth branch. We have agencies that are quite large that issue regulations. The Supreme Court said recently that agencies could actually define their own or interpret their own jurisdiction. (House hearing, December 3, 2013)

* FOLKS... AS I'VE LONG TRIED TO EXPLAIN... THE SUPREME COURT IS PART OF THE PROBLEM - NOT THE CAVALRY READY TO RIDE TO THE RESCUE. IF THE OBAMACARE DECISION DIDN'T CONVINCE YOU OF THIS THEN I'M AFRAID NOTHING WILL.
